Default Lore of the Lightbringer

I was having a discussion about the relevance of the Sunspear title at the end of NF (and the reason why you are a Legendary Spearmarshal at max rank and yet only command at most 7 troops, surely General would be enough?) and it occurred to me that I hadn't encountered a single other Lightbringer in the entire time I was saving Elona.

The way I understand it, the Order of Whispers are something like the keepers of the Lightbringer skills, but are not actually Lightbringers themselves. Which begs the question who gave them this job, and where are the other Lightbringers? And why is there a need for rank in a job where you are the one and only employee?

I could be wrong about it, but I can't find any other info about the lore of the Lightbringers to tell me otherwise.

I thought the Order of Whispers were part of Turai Ossa's private guard.

They helped him seal Palawa away.

I think they started off as his spy network, actually.

The order of whispers are lightbringers arn't they?

They have the skills too, essentially, but they're not all high enough rank to get anything powerful outta them.

All Order of Whispers are in a way Lightbringers. They are just very low ranked. The ones in the DoA that fight are the higher ranked.

And they were indeed his spy network.

reminds me of Nightwatch vs Daywatch.

Darkbringers in GW2...that would be quite cool.

[QUOTE=Talarian] And why is there a need for rank in a job where you are the one and only employee?

QUOTE]

You made me laugh with that, it seems that in the sunspears as soon as you acquire a nominal amount of power you are bound to the strenuous dutys of standing in in the Sunspear great hall. The low leveled sunspears are either sent to there death at Gandara or are found patroling an encampment for skivers north of the cliffs of Dohjok. Kormir seems to be the only sunspear that has got further than Gandara yet this is not by leading a powerful band of warriors but by tagging along with you, then the lazy cow feels its her duty to become a god after doing next to no work what so ever. And everyone wonders how they fall to Palawa in GW2.

I think my general point is, sit in the sunspear great hall and let everyone else do it.
