Default Floating Castle?

What exactly is the floating castle? It can be viewed from Stingray Strand near Fishermen's Haven. Its chained to the ground so it wont float away or something. What is it, who occupies it, who built it, and is it some outpost i dont know about?

Just scenery.

People try to find a complex historical story behind literally everything in GW, i'm convinced.

Lore wise, its the Wizard's Tower. Gameplay wise, its scenery. I say it could make a good elite area personally. Just like a dungeon, but going up.

I think it's nice that people care about lore, or make up their own lore while discovering new scenery. This is a fantasy game, so that's exactly what you should be using.

It would be nice if it was explorable though. But who knows what the future brings ^^

Reminds me a bit of the Castle you find in Pre Searing doing the 2nd Elementalist trainer quest. Granted this one is way bigger.

Factions has some good scenery anyways. Silent Surf and Maishang Hills have to be my 2 favorite areas in Factions. Around the NW part of Hills, everything is so dark and calm. I love it. Surf is so open and cool.

On topic: Yeah, that's a tower that Verata and some friends of his were doing experiments in. It's just scenery.

Its presumed to be a tower that belonged to one of the Mage Lords. However has evidenced from Galrath, nobody can get inside it.

All I can say is it reminds me of the floating castle in Zelda, which I think is pretty cool. Floating castles are always neat in a mysterious sort of way.

I had a thought. If I read correctly in the Movement of the World, the Southern coast of Kryta was underwater. But since the castle floats, it would be above water. And we have to find a way to get in (good elite area). Also, could the tower possibly have been Lord Odran's tower? and Galrath and Verata want to learn the secret of opening portals to the rift? Fits to me, whadda think?

Not all of the southern coast is underwater. Lion's Arch, which is at the shore, is still there, it's just destroyed. So its more like, Tidel Wave ->Wave reseeds->buildings destroyed. Also, the closest we can get to the tower is on a cliff, so the wave might not even reach that, and if it does, then the tower itself will get hit.

But what about Odran? Is it his tower? It might have a portal to the Rift...
