Question Staff Of The Mists...

Staff of the Mists
http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Staff_of_the_Mists
Quote:
The Staff of the Mists is the sister staff to the Scepter of Orr only available during the quest called The Cold Touch of the Past. While holding this bundle, its wielder is granted the Power of the Staff of the Mists. When dropped, the Aura of the Staff of the Mists grants you an advantage in battle. The staff of the mists is to health as the Scepter of Orr is to energy.
As we may or may not know it was destroyed in this quest.

What was it's real purpose?
Why was it in the desert?
Who made it?
Could it have been part of GW2?
Will it be part of GW2?
Etc........

I can't find a lot of info on it but if anyone would like, please post your thoughts.

The Staff of the Mists is the sister staff to the Scepter of Orr. It was given to the human rulers by the gods as a gift. Those rulers became greedy and started fighting over power *similar story to the distribution of Magic*. So the gods killed the current rulers and buried the sister staves with them.

Like how the Scepter of Orr can control the spiritual world, the Staff of the Mists controls the physical world.

It was buried there with the monarch it was given to.

The gods.

No, GW2 was thought of while making Utopia, not Nightfall. It was put in and destroyed in Nightfall.

Highly unlikely, as it is destroyed. However, the Scepter of Orr probably will.

Anything I left out I'm sure Free Runner will put in.

Brother and Sisters may argue, but they never truly get destroyed from one another

Or me. Technically it never states that the Gods gave them to human rulers as gifts. Rather it says: "The gods themselves were forced to intervene." Otherwise there is no other mention of the Gods in the quest, aside from the obvious Abaddon and Margonites.

My memory lies to me again. Dang.

I am starting to have a feeling that ANet is making it so that all 5 known ancient weapons are from pre-god time. (And I know some speculationists will say they were from the time of the Ancient Dragons)

Those five ancient weapons being:
1. Scepter of Orr
2. Staff of the Mists
3. Sohothin (Rurik's Sword)
4. Magdaer (Adelbern's Sword)
5. Cauldron of Cataclysm (the thing that started the Searing for those that don't know)

And this?

YES....wiki says something on it.
But, not enough to satisfy my curiosity.

Thats just an object that was supposed to be used in the attribute points quest but was later abandoned. The only hint at it is the Ghost near the statue that states his people who came to ascend created a weapon that destroyed their city in the desert. It doesnt have as much importance as the 5 Objects Azazel listed as it seems to be man made.
