This sounds pretty interesting. I love to read good lore about gw's but I don't think I would put my main account into the guild. I do have a 2nd and 3rd account. The 3rd bieng a guild leader and the 2nd one I just deleted the guild.
Hit me up IG at Melony Songbringer or on forums. I would love to get an account in there. Maybe even my main if it turns out to be as great an idea as it sounds.

1. Its his. 2. I was only "very enthusiastic" because I had too much sugar in my lemonade >.< *gotta be carful how much you put in that stuff, can give you worse then a hangover if not careful*.
Anyways, for Leader, I figured the one to come up with the idea should be the leader, only if you want though . As for capes, I've put up attachments of some capes I've liked in the past(Yes, they are a little bland but I still like them and they are just suggestions, I think the 1st and 4th capes are the best in that group, but I put 5 up so that others can see similar capes that would work).
For name, something to do with Durmand would probably work out well in terms of Lore relevance.
For Hall, I don't think it matters, nearly every hall can be argued to have relevance to the idea of the guild. *Hunters for the Library in LA look, Dead for the Catacomb/wall, Frozen because the Library after LA gets flooded is somewhere in the shiverpeaks (I think), I can go on, but won't* So it doesn't really matter, at least for now.
Edit: the 3rd, 4th, and 5th capes can all be given an emblem if wanted as well, the 1st two, not so much as I think they look best without one.

I looked through the emblems that were posted on wiki, and with the help of Paint I took out the emblems I think would defiantly not fit. So here is a "list" of possible emblems for the cape. And as I'm no longer in a guild, I cannot go to the Cape designer guy to make up new designs , so with the cape, for now, I've done what I can other then which Emblem should be used.
As for name, The best I can think of atm would be Caretakers/Order/Disciples/Scholars of Durmand [LORE] *yes, thats 4 names in one*.
I'm sure thats not something your wanting but, at least for me, coming up with a guild name that deals with a meeting of scholars is rather hard.
Edit: removed attached file and uploaded onto Photobucket so you can show it to GWO if you want.

Here are some ideas I had, after the suggested name of Tyrian Colloquium.
Colloquium Nexus of Research [LORE]
or
Nexus of Colloquial Research [LORE]
Edit:
Several more ideas, and it will likely become increasingly clear I love the word nexus.
Nexus of Contemplative Study [LORE]
or as Contemplative can also mean a person dedicated to contemplation it could also be something like this:
Nexus of Contemplatives [LORE]
The Archivists' Sanctum [LORE]
Just throwing some ideas out there.

Was actually gonna quote that person from GWO lol. I like the Colloquium idea *not the Tyrian though, too limited unless it means the World called Tyria, but even that is somewhat limited due to the Rift*.
I think the first name of the two you just posted are good.
Edit: looking at the names you added onto GWO *which I'll post all so you don't have to*

I like the Archivists' Sanctum idea of those. Course, University of the Five Gods wouldn't be too bad if it fits either.
How about Order of Archivists [LORE]? *kinda like the Order idea it seems lol*
Another Edit: seems quoting you from GWO was pointless as you added those names anyways lol. Anyways, another idea I got was "Archivists of Durmand." Just putting anything I come up with for people to think about.

Well, as we're kind of stuck on Tyria for the most part, it makes sense to use Tyrian in the sense of the world.
May want to take another glance though, I just added several more name ideas.

An idea I recently had regarding the Leader of the guild.
Why not have "Back-up Leaders" as well. Meaning, if the Leader is tired of being in the leader position *and it does happen* or if the leader needs to leave the guild for any reason, there would already be a set leader to take his/her place.
Nothing important but a good idea in terms of a fail-safe.

It would be hard to decide, but I do think it's a good idea to have in mind. Especially if the leader decides to take an extended break for RL reasons or just wanting to catch up on console games. (Like I've been doing as of late.)

Current Name Suggestions and Updated Leader Idea
Guild Names:
For those who keep up-to-date with this thread and doesn't go to GWO to read the ideas there, I have included the list of currently suggested names.

Tyrian History Order
Halls of Chokhin

Tyrian Colloquium
University of the Five Gods
|
The names I vote for *and don't care which of these get chosen*:
The Archivists' Sanctum
Colloquium of Research (Removed Nexus, I think it sounds better without it)
University of the Six Gods (Changed Five Gods to Six Gods, seeing how there are now 6 "good gods")
"Alliance Leaders":
Also, a revision of the idea about the "Back-up" leaders. Since this is planned to eventually become an alliance, depending on how many people join, I think the back-up leaders can also be the "candidates" to be the Branch leaders. Of course doing this will require a "Secondary Back-up" leader list as well, for back-up leaders that will be for the Branch guilds and to replace the then Branch leaders.
In simpler format, the "Hierarchy" for the guild leaders would be:
Guild Leader (1)
Co-Leaders *aka "Branch/Back-up" Leaders* (4)
"Secondary Back-up" Leaders *who will replace or follow the Primary Back-up leaders* (4)
Edit:
On another thought, I think it would be best to just scrap the "LORE Alliance" idea because I highly doubt we will get over 100 people into this. Also, we don't even know if we will have alliances in GW2, so planning on one, to me at least, isn't that wise. Keeping the "alliance leaders" idea up in case we do get enough people.
Guild Ideas List:
Also, gonna make a revision of my opinions for the guild, in the order that it needs to be dealt with.
Guild Name: (Not gonna bother re-writing, just look above)
Guild Leader: I think the one to come up with the idea should be the leader (for the narrow minded, that would be GmrLeon)
Guild Cape: My current two favorite are these two (Cape1 and Cape 2). The following link has the emblems that I think would work decent to good with the idea of the guild.
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...mblemIdeas.jpg
Guild Forum/Website: Gotta have a place to put our finds, especially for sharing between Guru-only users and GWO-only users.
Guild Co-Leaders: 1-4 "Back-up" Leaders for when whoever the leader is needs to take a break from the guild/game for whatever reason. (Removed the idea about "Secondary Back-up Leaders" since the alliance idea might not work).
People who will be joining us in GW2: Just need to get a list of everyone who will be buying GW2 when it comes out.
Edit: GmrLeon, seeing how you put this over on GWO, I added the two capes as links in the post instead of attachments so you can let them see them (at least until I can figure out what's wrong with my GWO account). Cape Pictures are in the Guild Cape section.

The ones that are most interested and care about the "minor" things such as name and cape are those who are active in suggestions. Those who are most interested and who care about the name, should be the ones to decide what it is. As such, going that way it will be less time to decide a name. As I see it, that would make me the only Guru supporter (besides you) and on GWO, that would be Larqh, at least as most interested (of course there being others who should vote :P)
I vote for the removal of the following names from the list:
The Lore Sanctum (fits with what we do, and with player base, not so much game base though)
Temple of Lore (don't think Temple really fits, and as above for the Lore in it)
Nexus of Contemplative Study (just doesn't fit to me)
Nexus of Contemplatives (same as directly above)
The Order of Tyria's History (Name just doesn't agree with me)
Tyrian History Order (the order *bad pun* of the words doesn't agree with me)
Order of Whispers (seems to me their main focus was attacking evil, not recording history, religion, and whatever falls under "lore")
Order of Historians (Technically, we are more then Historians )
So that leaves...
1) The Archivists' Sanctum
2) The Contemplatives' Sanctum
3) The Inquisitors' Sanctum
4) Inquisitors' Monastery
5) Fellowship of Tyrian Scholars
6) Colloquium of Research
7) Nexus of Colloquial Research
8) Halls of Chokhin
9) Sanctum of Meditation and Study
10) Tyrian Academy of Sciences
11) Tyrian Colloquium
12) University of the Six Gods
(Bolded names are the ones that I changed in my above post) (Underlined are the names I like)
Hope that helps with narrowing down the names.
Edit: something that can be done is to just take a tally of everyone's favorite few names, and the one with the most is the one that is picked. If there is a tie, just redo but with only those that tied with most votes.

Azazel hasn't mentioned it here, but to anyone wishing for the name to be The Order of Whispers, it seems to have already been taken.

Edit: The only reason I really chose the Order of Whispers was because of the fact that they are spread out all across Tyria by GW2 and knew of threats before they occurred. Much like a bunch of us lore nuts knew that the next campaign was going to be in Cantha and from there Elona. Not to mention their saving of the scrolls in the library within Lion's Arch before it was flooded. In other words, they saved countless recordings of history and, well, lore.

I would like to add, for those who don't look on GWO, that the list has been updated and a new thread over there with a poll for all the remaining guild names.
Remaining guild names are (with their current votes on GWO along with my vote):
The Archivists' Sanctum 3
Fellowship of Tyrian Scholars 1
Tyrian Academy of Sciences 0
University of the Six Gods 0
Colloquium of Research 0
Halls of Chokhin 2
Order of Historians 0
League of Studious Researchers 0
The Lore Sanctum 1
I suggest for those who do not have a GWO to either post your one vote on this page, or to message GmrLeon.

Just an update for whoever was paying attention to the guild.
The guild has been made, The Archivists Sanctum [Lore]. GmrLeon (iGN: Leon Wyvern) and myself (IGN: Azazel the Assassin) are current leader/officer (in order). If you have stated that you wanted to join already, just contact either, if you haven't stated in the thread, contact Leon, as I have a strict self-policy to not act too "rashly" without leader's permission .
We are now deciding on a cape for the guild. The hall seems to have been decided to be Isle of Weeping Stone once we get the cape. Alliance is undecided still as well, current (few) members don't care which we join, or if we will.
Edit: removed the absolute regarding the hall .

This sounds awesome. I would totally be willing to leave my current guild for this one (it's just me and my brother. I won't be missed). Everything I've read about your plans for this guild sounds perfect. The isle of weeping stone is easily my favorite guild hall. I love the cape designs so far, but most of all, I love the idea of being in a guild with other people who are actually interested in the lore. I'd really love to join, if you guys don't mind.
I'll keep checking on this thread, and PM one of you in game if I don't hear anything back.
Feel free to contact me in the game: Il Silent Earth Il

Anyways, away from my wishful thinking. I think that the guild should have [LORE] as the tag, as that is rather distinguishable and I don't think I have seen it around at all, so it would be original and if anyone who hears about the "Lore Guild" would be able to see someone by seeing the Tag and contact that way *if for some reason they can't through the Forums*.
Also, it would be a good idea to make a Forum for Lore with the guild's creation with known lore topics that are "big threads" in both Guru and GWO *Like the Ecology of the Charr thread here*.
Just ideas for the lore guild that doesn't deal with the actual name *still thinking of some*.
I do think it would be cool if the lore guild can get as popular as LaZy *at least in the eyes of ANet*, who knows what type of Lore the guild would be given then?
|
Ah. So, you want to get up to [LaZy]'s popularity, eh? Well, I've read every post here and I'm really interested in joining your guild, but of course I couldn't leave my [CREW] which is [LaZy]'s sister guild. I've spent most of my time in GW running around explorable areas, primarily in Nightfall, due to its being one of the most fascinating campaigns in my eyes, looking for something that could give me a hint to this, to that, etc. My character's name is Helios Dracus, though you might find me on Underworld Kitty from time to time farming ecto. I've spoken with people, and maybe your guild would like to join our [CREW]'s alliance. I'm a writer and I believe I'd be a big help to your guild. I've written 2 complete campaigns for Guild Wars, each quite long, 50 missions 50 primaries and 10 secondaries. One discusses the story of the Margonites, one the story of Abaddon. I document my finds reguarding lore in my 'Lore Book' which I might publish when I know 100% of the lore of GW1 as a guide to GW Lore. So add me / whisper me anytime.
