A guild proposition.
(Before it's asked I've gotten permission.)
I've already proposed this idea in the GWO Lore Forum and there's a decent amount of interest in starting a guild based on researching the GW lore. Or as I posted on GWO:
Perhaps I've been reading too much lore on the Order of Whispers, but I was thinking of organizing a guild and perhaps even an alliance of those who like to do in-game research. The main purpose of this would be the convenience of conveying ideas quickly amongst one another and easy organization of teams for research purposes. The organization of the alliance, if there were to be one, would be something like the following:
Alliance Leader-Has a guild hall where everyone can meet to organize themselves and team up and discuss things. Basically the launching point.
Tyrian Branch-This guild would be made up of those familiar with the Tyrian areas of Prophecies and would be referred to in an event of research in those areas.
Canthan Branch-Same as above.
Elonian Branch-Same as Tyrian Branch.
Northern Tyrian Branch-This consists of the areas introduced in Eye of the North, and like the Tyrian branch would be made up of those familiar with these areas and dungeons.
At any rate, if there's enough interest, and it seems there is on GWO, this will see the light of day.

This sounds very interesting. Personally, I don't think there is much that can be found out that a people who are not in a guild can do, although for the Lore Lovers *like myself* it would make it easier to ask questions when we find something out. To me it seems like it will start out as a "Search for Lore Info" guild(s) and soon turn into "Share what you know to those who have questions" guild(s). Either way, sounds interesting.
Add one to the "Interested List."

An interesting idea. While i would never have my main account leave my current guild (i've been a member for around 3 years and hope to continue that into GW2 ) i do have a guildless second account that i play often. If ever such an idea does come about i would be interested in joining through my second account.

Well, to be honest, it does seem as though we've found out most everything we can in terms of lore info for GW. At least, that's the common thought in the GWO Lore Forum, but I like to think that the guild would be in preparation to GW2.
In this way we would be organized before GW2, rather than scrambling around at release and haphazardly trying to organize ourselves. At least that's the thought I'm having for it.
Edit: Right now, over on GWO, we're discussing possible guild names. Well, sort of.
Some of the ideas I had were:
Sanctum of Meditation and Study [SoMS]
Order of Whispers [OoW]
Tyrian Academy of Sciences [TAoS]
This is what I said when requesting guild name proposals there:
At any rate, I'd like to see several (plausible, not ridiculous, not going over the character limit obviously) name ideas for the guild. We'll decide depending on which one gets the most support I suppose.
I'd like the names to fall under something that indicates a place of gathering, discussion, preparation, and intermittent travel, if you will. Hope that's not too much to ask for.

It's an interesting idea.... Although I won't leave my guild, and do not have a secondary acount, I would be happy to be an "external" participant to that Lore guild of yours, I'm new to this forum, but I always liked GW lore, and always wanted to find out about those loose ends!

Just a note, if any of you would like to discuss this further, you can contact me in-game by the name Leon Wyvern. Or PMs. Whatever suits you, especially considering I've not been that active in-game lately. (Been playing a new game I just got, is the reason.)

I find this proposition interesting, certianly I don't think my main account would join, but I do have a 2nd on at the moment, maybe I might join with that account, I'd have to think about it some more.

Well, seeing how its more of a preparation guild for GW2, then I think it is an even better idea then before. Luckily for you, I am now guildless *again* so once a name is made, I will be happy to join.
Also, some name ideas I have:
League of Researching Envoys [LORE] *couldn't think of a better E word *
Scholars of Myths [SoM]
Thats all I can think of for now, I'll post other names if I come up with any.

My first idea for a name for the guild was the following:
League of Research and Enlightenment [LoRE]
Unfortunately that wouldn't fit. I like the names you came up with except, well, envoys doesn't really fit and the only issue I have with Scholars of Myths is the fact that lore covers both mythology and history.
Now if only I could get the people to respond on GWO.
Edit: Not to mention it doesn't exactly fall under the description I had for its name. Which is in one of my above posts.

Like I said, the only E word I was able to think of was Envoy that had any relation to lore, so of course envoys can be replaced with a better W word. Also, I was trying to think of something with your description, but couldn't. At least so far.
Edit: Just thought of something that would be cool. Since the idea for this guild is going on both Guru and GWO, then there is a good chance that ANet would see this. I think it would be cool if they put in some Lore NPCs just for the guild *I know wishful thinking right? Still would be cool*. I just had the thought after looking at the title of the (second) "Razah in GW2?" thread. I thought "What if ANet puts Razah in our guild hall to say random things about the Lore? That would be cool."
Always wanted NPCs in the actual guild *not trader NPCs* to make it seem more realistic with how they act...
Anyways, away from my wishful thinking. I think that the guild should have [LORE] as the tag, as that is rather distinguishable and I don't think I have seen it around at all, so it would be original and if anyone who hears about the "Lore Guild" would be able to see someone by seeing the Tag and contact that way *if for some reason they can't through the Forums*.
Also, it would be a good idea to make a Forum for Lore with the guild's creation with known lore topics that are "big threads" in both Guru and GWO *Like the Ecology of the Charr thread here*.
Just ideas for the lore guild that doesn't deal with the actual name *still thinking of some*.
I do think it would be cool if the lore guild can get as popular as LaZy *at least in the eyes of ANet*, who knows what type of Lore the guild would be given then?

I don't know if you guys got this bit of information, but whenever I got Nightfall i zoomed through the campaign in two days, in the first day I was at Vabbi and exploring it. It was in the Halls of Chokhin there that I just happened to stumble upon in-game NPC versions of several of us who frequent the GWO Lore Forum.
This included myself, the previous moderator Quintus Antonius, and several others who contributed much in the way of theories and research.
That aside, I'm glad you have such hopeful thinking, and I'll have to do a bit of searching to make sure you're correct about the LORE tag, but I think you are. Most guilds go with a shorthand of their guild's name, with each letter in the tag denoting a word of the guild's name.
I think we should stick to getting the guild set up and actually existing before we go as far as a forum, though. Not to dampen the optimism, just being realistic.

About the LORE tag, along with not seeing it ingame, I also checked the ladder, and it is not there *I know there are millions of guilds that are not on the ladder, but pretty much all known guilds are on the upper ladder so chances are good for the tag*.
As for the NPCs that you mentioned, I do *now* recall reading that they were named after Lore Researching players, I just forgot about that for a *long* while. And yes, we should just focus on one step at a time, I was just saying that is something we need to plan for the future really. After finding a good name to use, we'll need a cape and yada yada yada. I know it all *quite annoying process really :/*.
But once you get the guild set up, send an invite to the igm to the left and I'll be sure to join, and until then, I'll post whatever ideas for names I might get.
But for now...I need to sleep...

An idea just proposed on GWO for the name of the guild:
Order of Historians.
Not really fond of it myself, considering it doesn't abide with the idea I have in mind for the alliance leading guild.
Edit: Almost forgot, here are the emblems he suggested:

The name could have something to do with Durmand. He seems to be important in GW2 in terms of collected lore. I noticed there is a place in GW2 named after him (Durmand Priory) that seems to be a centerbase for historians (and by chance its guardians are the Order of Whispers).
Though i do like the Order of Whispers name. Though surely that name would be taken by now?
Also the tag [LORE] is around however it is in very small numbers. No guild registered on wiki has the tag.

To be honest, it was just a small idea I had at the time. I really have no clue as to choose the name for a Guild.
(posting this here because I could use the postcount, it's been several months since I posted on Guru )

I believe that is the one. Though i've seen a second name called Durmand Libraries so i'm not sure if there are two locations or if one was an error.
I know your still trying to decide upon the main guilds name but branch names could use something relevent from that continent eg Cantha has the Celestial Ministry so the branch name could have the word Ministry in it. An example would be Ministry of *insert name here*.

That's pretty much the idea I had in mind for the names of the branches.
