No undead dragon I think. There are bones like that all over Tyria.

Why would those bones be that of a Gigantus Lupicus?

In case you didnt notice, they were Giants (Great Giants to be precise), not Dragons. And now that I've thought about it, it seems to me that this thing might rise in GW2 thanks to the ''Water Dragon'' or whatever its called (what a joke of a theory is that thing!).

After all, it will corrupt most if not all the living things that will cross its path, it would make sense that he'd reanimate that dragon; even if I'd rather attribuate that power to the Undead Dragon of Orr.

But thats the catch, what if it is the Dragon of Orr? For those who say its too small, I'll reply that this is a model for back in the day only Prophecies existed, and from Pre-Searing no less; Im pretty damn sure it can be subject to remodelation in order for it to fit GW2 Lore. I doubt that is the case however.

Wikis are made by the players. The GW Site has never delved deeper into the lore than the Battle of Khylo. Its just a skull with a candle on its head. Not sure where you live but over here i have seen the exact same ornament out on Halloween.

Oh and Fangclaw the theory is that the GL were not the typical giants you seem to be thinking off. Infact they would be closer to the Dinosaurs than a huge Giant.

To counter you why would those bones be from an Ancient Undead Dragon? why would its bones be spread out all over Tyria BEFORE it was even thought up?

Why would the Dragon Of Orr be spread all over Tyria? i'd call being asleep different from being a pile of bones. Seriously this Unexplained = Dragon thing as to stop.

Did you even read my post to the last line...? What do you mean, spread over Tyria? I didnt mention anything about that. Also, if the lore said there were Great Giants, wouldnt it make sense that they were exactly how they've been named? Anyhow, were drifting off-topic, lets start a thread or something...

One thing's for sure, Tyrian paleontologists are slacking off.

I read your post and decided to include more to my reply. It seems that failed so i will try again.

There are bones exactly like that all over Tyria. What makes this pile more special than the next?

And did you not think that perhaps they were named "Great Giants" because of their size? when you look at those bones they aint exactly the size of your average drake on a plain.

But of course i must be mad to think that Giants could be anything but humanoid.

i can safely say based on Japanese history GIANT ENEMY CRABS were quite common.

the Undead Dragon of Orr isn't found in the Crystal Desert, as of current information it actually lies under Orr now

however it awakens, Orr rises to the surface along with a whole host of uBer undead, the dragon then flies off to the Elona like areas, supposedly to steal control of Palawa Joko's minions.

As for the 'most deadly' part, that is very reasonable, seeing as anything caught in its shadow dies, then gets animated as one of its servants, all seemingly with no concious intervention from teh dragon itself

so yea, pretty badass like

Nothing except that those are the bones of a Dragon. I just thought that it might have a link to the great dragons, even as remote as it could turn out to be.

But if they really were named by their size, wouldnt they have been called ''Great [species]" instead of "Great Giants"? That, or maybe they added the word ''Giants'' because of their gigantic size... The first time I read their names in the Prophecies Manual, I thought they'd of them as a giant version of the beasts the stone summit rode on.

No you arent, the "Great Giants'' could've been anything, not just humanoïd. I just found it strange at first that they were named that way instead of, say ''Great Beasts'' or ''Great Serpents'' or whatever they actually are...

Because they are not all one species. GL is just the general name for all of them, like how in real life we lump all dinosaurs under, well, dinosaurs even though they are of multiple species and all have different names.

As for being a dragon, its possible that it is, but only in the sense that its an overgrown drake. Its not in the same league as Glint or Kunvie or any of the Ancient Dragons in GW2. Lets remember that when Prophecies came out, Anet never thought of making GW2, never mind laying the groundwork for the sequel's lore.

Technically the Charr are ancient, they've been around since before the humans and fought the Forgotten. They were around before the Gods decided to place the "infestation" on Tyria, that is, the humans.

Norn do not have leaders. Never make that mistake when speaking with a Norn.

Just to note, I reread the Movement of the World again, and that dragon we're calling Grothmar that flies over what used to be Ascalon, becomes the Desert Dragon. Just a heads-up.

It is not a proven fact that "Grothmar" is also the Desert Dragon. Although it is highly likely, I personally hope it isn't. Still wishing Glint betrays humanity and becomes the Desert Dragon I want to kill her again.

There are also pretty much intact fossils of giants in the crystal desert aswell. Which look exactly like modern-day-Guild Wars-humans. Possibly, all other creatures were giant-sized versions of current day creatures, hinting that the earth was much larger thousands of years ago. This also means that the world is getting smaller, and everything along with it. And that history could just be repeating itself, but at a smaller scale? :P
This could in itself be the reverse-big bang, meaning that the universe that Tyria is in, is slowly consuming itself, and will eventually end. The Underworld and other gods realms may be full, and spew spirits back out, (meaning that, the giant female warrior that you see in the crystal desert is actually the female warrior standing next to her, but just tens of thousands of years ago.) And each time that it does that, the sheer force forces the world to shrink?
The Ancient Dragons therefor, could actually be 'Ancient' and are just creatures that have survived the last twenty thousand years.

This is just pure speculation.
oh and, in the underworld, there is a giant skull in a pit.

Or it could be that those bones are the remains of the Giganticus Lupicus and the Ancient Dragons are just powerful creatures that have been sleeping through time....

When I hear "lupicus" I am reminded of the latin root "lupine" which implies having to do with wolves or having the qualities of a wolf. This lends credence to the idea that the great giants were indeed quadruped. Most "big" things that evolve tend to be quadruped or marine in locomotion, just because of the sheer amount of weight that would be placed on their ankle/feet analogs if they were biped.

If not for a meteorite, would we all be talking, computing, dinosaurs? A sentient species doesn't need to be a primate. Most evolutionary theories suggest that the most likely type of species to achieve sentinence is a reptile of some sort. The age of mammals came to be on earth pretty much by accident, so who's to say that the great giants had to be primates, muchless mammals? Heck, who's to say they were even sentient? Who knows?!?

The Dragons opposed the god's, so the Gods silenced them, and now that the Gods have left the physical world, the dragons are realizing they can come back to power, thus start waking up for the main attraction in GW2
