Fear not, 250 years from now the G.O.L.E.M. technologies will be so advance, with thicker armor, bigger gun, flight capability etc. One of this next next next Gen machine will be able to put the charr battle group in a world of pain as easy as taking a candy from a baby dragon.
What that's? The dragons are huge, you say? They won't be the only big player in tyria anymore. Five of these golems can combine and transform into a 73 meters tall, dragon's ass kicking machine. Not to mention it will comes with its own theme tune.
The Asura pilots will be most likely to shout "Let's combine!" during the transformation to give themself +10 to morale. They'll also very likely to shout out the name of their attacking skills such as, "Golem Punch!", "Golem Beam".
See, nothing to worry about. Giant dragon? Forget about it.

I'm aware this is my 5th post in a row, I'm not bumping, simply adding new thoughts and such as I go along.
Ok, we've cnofirmed that they are dragons (And Drakkar can fly, yay...lol). So perhaps the Norn simply named this lake after because there's a dragon in it. Like, they may have pretty much called it dragon lake and knew something half decent about it else they wouldn't be afraid of it.
Also it begs the question; Why is it when our characters get that near to it nothing happens? Like, the thing is also meant to be leaking magic being that powerful and all, so why does nothing happen to us even though we're very close to it?
A theory could be that it's in a deep hibernation, thus breathing still. We know their breathe seems to pretty much warp reality of sort, so maybe Jora and her brother were there at simply the wrong time and got affected by it?
I'm aware it's in ice and there's not much breathing going on, but hey this is a sea crature that can fly without wings and it does all kinds of funky stuff. So who knows, lol.

I don't think so. According to the article, Glint and Kuunavang are entirely midgets compared to these - and a different variety of dragon altogether. It's possible that the historian is just referring to Glint as she was known in GW1 and she's gone through a growth spurt and is now restricting travel across the desert for her own reasons, but I think it's more likely she's sitting tight inside one of those hidden-within-a-grain-of-sand lairs of hers.
Who knows, maybe one of the storylines for GW2 will involve finding her and enlisting her help to Ascend in order to shout at the gods "HEY YOU LOT! PAY ATTENTION! WE NEED SOME HELP DOWN HERE!!!"
Malchior: You may want to combine your posts. It IS actually against the forum rules to double-post or otherwise make multiple posts in sequence - and the mods are allowed to delete with Extreme Prejudice in order to remove it. (My impression is that for one double-post they'll merge posts, but for multiple posts in succession they'll just delete). Use the EDIT button instead.
On your thoughts regarding the Nornbear and the creature in Drakkar Lake - My thoughts have been that Jora and her brother got hit because Jora's brother deliberately attempted to make contact with it, which none of the PCs do.

first thing I'm going to try is using charm animal on these bad mother fu....Well, you know. It wont work, but hell it's work a try. XD
It would be a very cool thing if we found out the 5 gods are like the titans, powerful, but not actually gods. Perhaps they do infact have powers like that of these dragons, and are maybe afraid to directly fight them due to the high chances of losing? Either way it's a battle out of our hands if so. O_o
Wamma Balth, LOL. Could you immagine if grenth was a MM? His smallest minions would be the abomination things that look like this
Thanks, I'll be sure to edit
Also I wasn't aware he tried to make contact. Maybe I wasn't listening

Jora's brother tried to use divination to find out more about the 'feelings' he was sensing. I would suppose he tapped into the dragon's emissions and got the backlash from it.

Ohhh. Well, either I wasn't paying attention, or I lagged while viewing the video due to my lame computer and graphics card, lol.
when that happens, all the audio is played at once, making for nothing but jibberish and I just skip whatever video it is when that happens. So maybe it could have been that...

When walking above it Svanir says he can feel something in the air thats ancient and when Jora trys to turn back he says "A simple spell should reveal it". Once he uses the spell Jora claims that high magical energy corrupted Svanir instantly while she rejected it, losing her bear form in the process.
I believe it is like Primordus - constantly in some way letting out powerful magic which would explain why the ice elementals and chilling whisps gather in huge numbers there. That area is one of the most supernatural areas in the game to me. Has anyone noticed that nobody seems to take note of the Dragons existance below the ice? the norn say it is a dark place but nobody ever mentions what is sleeping below the ice.

Two possibilities:
The Norn know the dragon is there (they call it Drakkar's Lake, after all) and just figure everyone knows it's there, no reason to mention it....
OR there is actually something concealing it, but since we are the "chosen ones" (we activate the Scrying Pool, for example); we can see the dragon where others just feel a sense of dread.

Oooh yeah now I remember the video now. In my head I can only remmeber once scene, but do remember the audio. I guess I do need to pay more attention =P
EDIT: I'm on my way to get a few more screens of the Drakkar from better/different angles.
EDIT 2: This is alot harder than it looks due to the size of Drakkar. I can't really get a spot to get a decent amount of him in at a close enough range. I don't suppose there's some form of camera mode on GW where I could be able to get up higher, is there? Personally I highly doubt it but hey anything's possible I guess.

A better solution is to boycott FOW and the UW.
Yeah, I wonder how long Grenth and Balthazar can last like that.

I'm not too sure about glint, due to me not getting that far into the game yet. However, I can personally say that compared to Drakkar, the smallest of these old dragons to date, Kuunavang is tiny, and my guess is far less powerful too.
I've beat factions, and Kuunavang is big and all, but she seriously just doesn't compare to the old dragons at all, lol. Besides, I'm sure she has her hands full in cantha.
Which is another thing, why are these dragons staying only in the continent of tyria? do they not know of the other continents? Or do they simply have an attachment to tyria and wish to rule over it?

My thought is since we've lost contact with Cantha and Elonia, we only know about the dragons here.
I suspect there are dragons in Elonia and Cantha, too.

Hmmm
This is from the PC gamer mag with the minipet. (I think It's PC gamer at least)
The text reads: "In Eye of the North, players can find a couple of dragons resting in hibernation. The idea was to have a dragon sleeping under the ice of a frozen lake, as if he'd been there since before the area went frosty."
So, Drakkar was sleeping there and the world changed around him. Interesting...
Adding this to the first post, along with the text.

Or they could be afraid that if they tried fighting, the battle will just end up doing more damage than not fighting.

You know what went through my head when I looked at those (amazingly taken) pictures?
Mini mini mini mini mini... and so on.
Oh, and can about 30 elementalists meet me outside Sifhalla? I have a plan to unfreeze him, but we need a LOT of fire storm.
