It seems all the Dragons have been put to sleep and had nature take its toll on where they are. This thing in the Charr Homelands has had an island grow around it,Primordus has become a statue and this Drakkar has been frozen in ice. However it could of frozen itself for protection but until we know why these dragons are sleeping everythings speculation.

All I know is, if they do come alive and want their world back, I'm moving far away. Like, to pre searing! XD
I think aNet should do a story about these "True Giants", or at least add a little more about them....Though they are meant to be very mysterous and litttle known about them ...lol. Maybe we should ask the forgotten

During the preview event this Drakkar (Until we know its real name its the closest thing we have) was believed to be a Giganticus Lupicus due to its resemblence to the many left over bones around Tyria (often seen in the Crystal Desert).
It has already shown dark power. When Svanir and Jora are walking above it they get cursed by a powerfull dark magic causing Svanir to become the norn Bear and Jora to lose her bear form. This curse they got could of been it leaking magic - Vekk states that the dragon statue (Primordus) is practicly bleeding magic so the Drakkar could be doing the same.
I'm wondering what power it holds - if Primordus can create life what can this thing do? when it awakens in GW2 and starts destroying things what will its ultimate power be?. This is also the smallest of the 3 Dragons seen so far.

OK, I have devised this plan to free Drakkar, making him my loyal friend forever! =o
I'm going to use rebirth, and a chain of assassins using recall to rebirth him near the sea. This is how it will work:
I have a line of assassins from Drakkar to the nearest open sea, Then, they each cast recall on the assassin behind them. the spaces between the assassins will be half the compass radius because that is the max distance anything can be maintained. I shall time it perfectly that as soon as I finish casting recall, the sin second nearest the sea would end recall on the one behind him, thus shadow stepping closer to the sea.
This will then cause a chain reaction of shadow stepping that results in all the sins being on the coastline, me included. Then Drakkar will be teleported to my location, and then brought back to life via rebirth spell. And then he will simply flump into the sea and be forever grateful for me and my bright idea.
He'll give me rides on new characters to anywhere on the map, and he'll pwn anyone I want and kill entire areas of enemies with ease in HM. And I'll have the vanquisher title on level 1's and junk. And go to unexplored lands of GW and bring back never before seen greens and all sorts and be the richest person Tyria (world, not continent) ever and I'll own the whole world and it will be awesome. @_@
damn I really do think too much...

I'm not sure why, but I dind't read this properly earlier. Perhaps because I was in my own little world about assassin shadow stepping chains and such...
Anywhoo, you have a very good point there. With the curse of the norn bear thing perhaps Drakkar is some sort of mesmer/necro type monster from back in the times where magic wasn't as limited as it is nowdays. If that thing is 'bleeding' raw magic, it could do as it wished and perhaps froze itself there on purpose. =o
Maybe it could fly? lol
Hey if it's old magic it could be possible...old magic like that of which destroyed Orr. O_o
I'll be damned if I try to fight something that could blow a continent up with limited effort...£2305780263495723 to the person who farms it! XD

See I think a storyline that goes so far back into the timeline that the whole landscape is different would be awesome. Like, just after the true giants left the world of tyria and such. It must have been a drasticly changing world back then, and maybe there would be a chance to add the remaining 3 domains of the gods? perhaps a different game set/style for the most part because it was different back then...

dragon sightings..
i remember the first time i saw this dragon drakkar, i had cleared the lake of all enemies an i was running back across it from the sifhalla direction, seeing something under the lake my first thought was this looks like somethings back!? as it turns out i was running from the tail over his back, when i saw his head an the spikes on it while running over his neck i swear to god i got a chill down my spine when i realized what it was. thats the first time in all of guild wars that i have had a reaction like that from seeing something.
i read about these dragons, if i remember correctly there are 5 of them in there. there is another one buried under earth across a small lake by where you rescue pyre fierceshot at. i have been wondering where the other ones are..
i was thinking of starting a new thread called dragon sightings, but this thread already has its momentum in the dragon discussion. so, if anyone finds anymore of them.. post a screenshot.

There's a page missing from the PcGamer Guild Wars Guide about Dargons that will hopefully shed more light.
We know there is one under Orr, one in Drakkar's lake, one in Charr territory, and one in the Crystal Desert (I think).

Where would the one in the Crystal Desert be?
EDIT: On second thought, it's Glint. Maybe each area of Tyria (country) has its own dragon, so far the Shiverpeaks has one, Ascalon/Charr territory has one, Orr has one, Crystal Desert has one, you think maybe Kryta and RoF have one?

SPOILER
Here's the dragon bit from PCgamer:
http://www.pcgamer.com/archives/2007...-_ultimat.html
Quote:
After Primordus, the other great dragons began to stir one by one. The rise of the dragon beneath Orr caused the entire continent to surface, sparking a tidal wave that swept the coastline and drowned thousands. In the deepest waters of the sea, another dragon breathed, twisting the waters themselves into tentacled horrors that rose from every lake and river of the land. Only a few years ago, yet another dragon erupted from the northern mountains and flew south over the Charr territory of Ascalon. The land directly below the path of the dragon’s flight was corrupted, becoming a crater of horror. The ground blackened from the dragon's presence and any creatures caught within the wind of its breath twisted and changed.
Although these creatures are called dragons, they are as different from Kuunavang and Glint as night to day—more powerful, older, born of different, unfathomable magic, these horrors are controlled by no god nor any other power known to the races of Tyria. What connection they have to these "younger dragons" is unknown, but they certainly do not possess the mercy or familiarity with the sentient races of the world that Kuunavang or Glint portray. The cycle of their awakening reaches back to the time of the giganticus lupicus, and even further, back into prehistory. The only thing known about these monsters is that they have no pity, no curiosity—no concern at all for the other races of the world. Their only goal seems to be to dominate, to control, and to destroy.
|
So that's three, not counting Primordus. (Orr, Deep Sea, and Charr territory)
Then, in the Norn section they mention:
Quote:
Over the past one hundred years, more and more Norn have been seen in Kryta and lands beyond. An elder dragon of ice and snow arose in the farthest northern peaks, driving even the most stalwart hunters south into Dwarven lands. There they found abandoned Dwarven forts and a new challenge in the form of the Dredge, the old nemeses of the Dwarves, now almost unrecognizable from the primitive, frightened creatures of the past.
|
And, in a section about the Order of Whispers, a hint of the desert dragon: "...although crossing the Crystal Desert is currently impossible due to Palawa's stranglehold over the southern reaches and the desert dragon's presence in the northern desert."

Interesting...so these Dragons have been around since the time of the Giganticus Lupicus.........i wonder why they go into their hibernation - was it because they were sealed away or did they just go to sleep on their own. Also i wonder if the Gods even know/knew of their existance.
Also i like the way that each Dragons breath in some way corrupts whatevers in its path.

What I wish to know is can we ever actually fight something like that?
Are the dragons allied or just midlessly killing everything in their path without realising, or caring, about other things on the world?
I never really gave GW2 much notice to be honest, and paid more attention to GW:EN seeing as it looked better in my opinion. But now that I've discovered al this about True Giants changing the world, it's just too good to ignore, lol.
True giants FTW. Oh well I guess I wont be taking anything over by freeing and using Drakkar any time soon.

See, when I first came across it I was at the endge of the lake, due to me being able to see into it so very clealry. I was with a good friend helping her farm Norn reputation points, when I looked across it and I was pretty much like "Hooooly Sh*****t!! O_O"
My friend had a kind of "Cool" type reaction, but then said that she realised the trees were just reflections. And said there was nothing there. I was beyond baffled and frustrated because she couldn't see it. I brought another friend there soon after, she was confused at what she was meant to be looking at, lol.
So, I took my assassin and clear out everything around the lake, and took those screens. (I also took a few on my ranger when I first found it too if anyone wants to see those screens). Another friend then took screenshots of what she could see at the lake, and you couldn't see a thing through it. So in the end I'm glad I have this bad graphics card! XD
I don't think this thread was half bad considering it was my first ever guru post. ^__^

Soo, yeah. I thin it's deffinatly safe to say that The Drakkar did infact cause the curse of the Nornbear, seeing as it corrupts everything in it's flightpath. Parhaps the reason it's sleeping is because it had some form of magic that grew over time? Perhaps all those years ago they weren't actually this powerful but knew they could be. Frozen themselves/whathaveyou and waited until what magic they had grew and awakened them?
That's the only way I can guess why they suddenly woke up, though it could well be because of the Great destroyer's death.
if these things wanted to conqure all there is, then perhaps they are working together and got bored with the world of tyria because they had pretty much Effed it over and had little else to do.
