Shiro kills the emperor, because that FortuneTeller Woman (ooo, capitals for her) tells him, that he will die on the day of the Harvest (or whatever it was called ;P) and would be slain by the emperor. The FortuneTellerWoman tells him, that he would have to choose - either him, or the emperor.

before the Raisu Palace mission u see a cinematic with shiro following the emperor to the temple, getting mad with the voices in his head, and killing the emperor.

as for WHY would he die from the emperor, there IS NO explanation i could find. the FortuneTeller tells him, he will be a guy that will be legendary and ppl from 10000years from his death will know who he was.. but again, Anet didnt bother to think up something that makes any sense, so i doubt we'd see a real reason for the behaviour of Shiro..

if you wonder what shiro is doing in the Factions campaign, he raises an army of Shiroken and Afflicted, and storms the Raisu Palace, gets to the emperor, and tries to kill him again. Why? becoz he died becoz of the Royal blood, and so the only way to enter the world of living again, be made of flesh, is to kill someone of the royal blood, and use that blood for some spell (which again, is not really specified, TY ANET). i could add a coupla more spoilers, but i see no reason ;P

have u not yet figured out y shiro killed the emperor 200 yrs ago? well if u havent this is y.

he talks to this fortune teller who says to him "beware the harvest festival...the emperor will try and kill you."

shiro then practically cuts her in half. then she says "either you or him will die......you...or...him" then she dies which i found quit enjoyable.

at the top floor of that tower the words of the emperor and the fortune teller course through his head which makes him go mad and charge at the emperor and kill him

Yes, that Shirow of the past, has similarities with the tragic "celestial spirit" heroes. After all, he probably was a exceptional and loyal bodyguard, and would have remain such if it wasnt for that advice willing "friendly" seer.

Hai Jii, the Celestial Phoenix.-a talented painter from a family line of warriors, that despite having rejected using sword to be a painter -took up swordfighting to avenge his family -made a pact with Grenth so that the murderers would find no rest in the underworld

Tahmu, the Celestial Dragon. - a once genorous emperess that was forced to witness the destrution and torture of her citizens performed by Nagas, become enraged beyond reason & destroyed the Nagas as a celestial dragon (probably the area too, my speculation)

Something Suun says in Divine Path makes me think that the Shiro story is not yet over. While he may be dead, I think it fairly obvious that he was working for someone. Why do I say that?

Shiro, an assassin, suddenly has the ability to cast immesely powerful spells.
He also seemingly gains the ability to manipulate souls against their will.
There is a possibility that the voices he heard in his head were not all from his head.
Shiro suddenly knows what kind of spell he must cast to make himself mortal again.
Shiro seems to have no logical reason to kill the emperor, or to try to ressurect himself once hes an envoy.

I believe there is only one situation that can explain this. Shiro is either working for or being manipulated by, a higher power. This power is clearly greater than anything weve encountered, since even his vassal (Shiro) had enough energy to crystalize a few hundered square miles upon his death. I think this is all leading up to something big. I think there is more to Shiro's story than what we have been told.

Vizu helped Viktor and Archaemoris (spelling) kill shiro, she and Nika are related.
Vizu was raised in Vizunah Square, when she died locals petitioned to re-name the square after her, Vizunah Square. i got that from guild wiki.

Alrighty, spoilers ahoy.

Shiro was a brave and loyal soldier, a talented assassin. Abbadon wanted Shiro as a general and so he sent a dark agent to Cantha as a fortune teller. She told Shiro his name will live on for a thousand years. He ignored her words, even after she told him fortune would come his way. Her words came true and he returned to her. This time, however, she told him that the emporer was going to kill him. He struck her down in rage, not knowing what she spoke was possessing him. With her dying breath, she told Shiro that the emporer was planning to kill him at the harvest ceremony. Shiro went insane and assassinated the emporer. He soon found his way into the Realm of Torment. And so, Abbadon ruined poor Shiro's life just so he would have a good general.

Now, this is what happens in the Factions cinematic:

As the emporer bows his head to recieve Dwayna's blessings, Shiro slays the emporer he was sworn to protect. The emporers soul energy is being drained and going into Shiro, making him even more powerful. Shiro kills the other guards, yet one escapes, sounding the alarm and sacrificing her life. The two kurzick and Luxon champions, Archemorus and Saint Viktor, rushed to where the emporer was slain. Even the two heroes could not defeat Shiro and soon, many soldiers lives were taken with only the two champions standing against Shiro. Vizu, a young assassin, heard fighting in the tower. She shadow-stepped behind Shiro, stabbing him in the back, crippling him and causing Shiro to drop his weopons. Archemorus and Viktor pick up his blades which they slay him with. As Shiro dies, he lets out a death wail that petrifies the forests and turns the seas to pure jade. The three heroes who bested him also perished.
