The Hierophants
Hello all of the Guru community! I'll keep my post short and to the point.
Hierophants, what exactly are they? Like who decides who becomes one and stuff like that? I know of only two in the game, Hierophant Burntsoul and Duncan the Black. Are there any others? This is just something that has bothered me and so I thought maybe you guys could answer .

Who decides who becomes one is probably just the same as who's next in line as the highest priest.
Yes there are others - in Sorrow's Furnace. Hierophant Morlog is Duncan's predecessor.

Nice info Konig.
As for who decides: A programmer who shall remain nameless decides such things. Perhaps we call him... the "Architect."

Agreed!
It could also just be a ranking system amongst the Stone Summit. Those who survived/proven themselves enough times recieve this title. Since, to me at least, the Stone Summit don't seem to have much of a spiritual sector. Unless killing and plotting to rule the world count? (If so Pinky and the Brain is my new religion)

The Stone Summit do have a spiritual sector... they worship the Great Destroyer, or some do at least (the hierophants). Though this is undermined by their xenophobia and desire to rule the world.
Hierophants are spiritual rulers, so if their rulers underneath/after their founder are hierophants, they're religious to a degree.
