Well, Arachnia is said to be dead - long and gone. So I doubt that it will return.

Default The spider God

I know this has been brought up and exists in the archives but i wanted to point out something i saw while walking around in the realm of torment that i haven't see anyone else comment on. If you look at the pic of the domain of fear i attached below you will see something interesting.
looking at the portal for the Gate of Secrets and starting at a north-western position and going around counter clockwise to a south east position we can see 8 spiders legs 2 of them as bridges in the map and the other 6 curling up visible when standing in the map.
they are all connected to a central roundish area which has a oval like area connected to it(which would be looking north east of the Gate of Secrets portal).
When combining these it gives the distinct impression of a spider dead on its back with its legs standing up in the air.
Now im not going to debate weather the spider god is real or not but if it exists in the games lore and canon in some form i say that we are standing on the body of it which makes up the entire south western part of the domain of fear.

I can also see Abe from Oddworld , egf, Blinky,Pinky, Inky , Clyde , amoeba in mitosis stage and something that might resemble multiple head totem pole but the ones from christmas islands

That 8 thing might resemble on spider. Then whats with this yellow-ish upside down U shape path? His tail?

How does the spider god fit in whole ancient dragon lore?

first the .dat file says that the glow is SAID to be the heart of the dead spider god not that it is. and also we must rememebr most information is writing from a ingame universe perspective so the people in the gam htink its the spider god but dont know im saying it is.
As for the dirt on the back it very easily could have been sediment that has piled up for countless ages of shaping and reshaping the realm. Kralkatorrik is half buried in the hcarr homelands due to ages of weathering its very possible that due the the age of the beat its very possible dirt and over rock have fallen over it covering up part of its back.

So a dead giant spider fossile in Domain of Fear indicates a diety? Does that make the dead dragons dieties? I think somewhere I saw a Yak skull. God of Yaks? When escorting Kormir to Gate of Madness, you will cross a bridge that looks like an upside down centipede. Is that a god too?

A giant dead bug is a giant dead bug.

Merged with my research thread - even if a thread is "dead," bringing it back is preferred over new topics - at least in the lore forum.

I did make note of the location you mention - I think that it is the Arachnia Plateau.

Quote:
The image is only a portion of the Arachnia Plateau. The whole of it all looks like all 8 legs of a spider, and the exit to the Gate of Secrets looks a lot like a mouth – though in the wrong position if it were a spider. Although I will not say this is Arachnia, this location could have been made in her image during the domain’s creation.

We don't even know if Arachnia and the other unnamed insectoid deities are canon lore. And it wouldn't really need to - if they are canon, they are the gods' predecessors more than likely. The gods came to Tyria long after the Elder Dragons went into hibernation, so it is likely that these insectoid deities were not near Tyria when the ED were awake. Thus, no connection.

That's not an upside down centipede. That's a bunch of (flat topped) skulls - or rather, stone which looks like skulls. Very well may be the Screaming Spans.

Those "yak skulls" are most likely Giganticus Lupicus - as could be the Screaming Spans.

I'm not sure what "dead dragons" you're referring to.

And it would be wise to read the entire posts, there's more than a giant corpse which state it is/could be a god's body.

Oh, and deity!=god. A god in GW we still don't have a firm definition of - if there even is one. A deity is merely something worshiped.

This is why i stay out of druids overlook, and your posts Konnig I have 7 gw wiki tabs open trying to figure out lore.

I just hope that some npc (who happen to be named Konnig) somewhere in mists / underwater cave in gw2 will offer monologs and more info on things like Arachnia, Menzies and that weird old man in Nightfall that can travel through time and space while talking in riddles all the times and teasing me .

ahh i didn't see that you had already made mention of how it looks like a spider. Your posts are usually very long and it gets disorienting trying to look up all the stuff you make mention of i must have missed that when i first read through it.

Ok i know jack about gw lore but heres my opinion.
Races have their own gods - charr are a good example to use and so is mursat ( unseen gods ) - a race can worship a deity without the deity needing to be real.
things in realm of torment / doa could have been taken there by abbadon ages ago and he as a god may have experimented on them for his own reasons , hell giant spiders would be a gd weapon as we have siege devourers etc.
I think its been stated that there were giant beings - be them insects/lizards etc in gw so theres another viable answer.
As for that pic - what that really reminds me of is a squid when sort of flat so it could be a relative of the windriders and their family.
Another plausable theory could be arachnia was a queen and in some species the queen is enormous and if these species have intelligence they may perceive her as a god ( egyptians worshiped their pharoahs as living gods ) or even other cultures within gw lore may have seen her and thru time is thought to be a god even if she isnt.
Buts thats just my thoughts on the subject.

BTW just thought - just because a place is named arachnias heart doesnt mean it has to be - abbadons mouth for example springs to mind

It isn't the name (and it is called the Spider's Heart, actually), but the description:
Quote:

As to the giant beings - you mean the Giganticus Lupicus, I'm sure. We don't know what they are, but they were not insects as they are not exoskeletons.

So I gotta ask, as I found your research very interesting; now that Dhuum is revealed as non-insectoid god, does that change your views on Arachnia as a predecessor to Abaddon?

Not really. It just means that Dhuum wasn't of the pantheon that Arachnia and the "gods of insectoid beings" whose remains we see in Harvestman's Lair could of been a part of - if Arachnia was a predecessor to any of the Six Gods, that is.
