I'm sorry if anyone feels this belongs in the thread below, but I felt this had many key ideas that not only deviated from the Satellite thing a little (the one located in Lyssa's Ice Caves in NE Mineral Springs), but added a lot to it. I'm piggy-backing off some people's ideas here, but adding in my own developments.
Some people expressed the idea that these "satellites" were made to keep the dragons asleep. Now, let me take it further:

Ever heard of E.L.F Waves? They generally require a certain type of rock formation for the antennas to sit on for them to work, unless I am wrong here. E.L.F Waves can go through mountains and oceans. They spread through the earth. This will be relevant soon, because I am going to incorporate part of what makes E.L.F Waves in reality, into a similar vehicle for Guild Wars.

I don't believe the Gods made these devices. I know this is a long shot, but I think a race that may, or may not, have created the Halls of Heroes once came upon Tyria, had an encounter with the Elder Dragons and realizing the power these foes held (they rival the powers of the Gods), left behind these dishes in the hopes that any civilizations that arose on Tyra far, far into the future (10,000+ years) might have the hopes of defeating them. Leaving these here provided hope, and allowed life to rise on Tyria.

It is a long time to be asleep. I would have trouble believing even large Leviathans like the Elder Dragons could sleep for that long when the world around them is a beehive of activity. However, earthquakes from the most recent event of the Destroyers may have damaged those devices (devices that project a sleeping tune), and coupled with the close proximity towards Primordus, would start waking him, and eventually the others, up.

Why a race that may have built the Halls of Heroes? I point towards the golden statues, and a connection with that towards the golden statue of Melandru you encounter on the first mission of EoTN in the tunnels. I doubt those tunnels were built by dwarves, men, asura or any other civilizations on Tyria currently. I said it was a long shot, because I am sure there may be golden statues to the Gods up top. But think about it...Melandru, the Goddess of Nature. Melandru is the Goddess of Earth and Nature, thus being underground and flourishing nature on the world of Tyra. The only missing link here is Dwayna and her connection towards Life.

There is also speculation about the Eye of the North. If you draw a line north of the cave, you will almost (almost!) exactly hit the Eye of the North. The two areas sit in opposite areas of the Curve of the mountain. Maybe they also built the Eye for some purpose? Maybe the scrying pool was put there, so if any advanced society rose and retrieved the blessings of the Gods (and a people, or a group of people, that could rival a God's power; aka Abbadon), then they could access the pool. Funny, how it showed them a General of one of the "Elder Dragons" don't you think?
Funny also how the Eye seems to be a "Pinnacle", an "Antenna" that rises up. I also couldn't help but notice the way the inside is shaped; the cauldron of fire that lies beneath a curved section, with the entire thing like a Satellite (go inside and look up; you will exactly what I mean. A freaky coincidence, no?) Maybe those E.L.F Waves (though not completely E.L.F waves) we discussed earlier reverberate almost down the sides of both mountains, spreading through the world.
Also, though I likely think this may be really grasping at straws, I couldn't help notice the two volcanic mountains north and south that happened to be almost perfectly lined up with one another, and adjacent to Kryta. I found that a little peculiar, but it may or may not hold relevance to this.

To top off this sweet cake, I have to point out the fact that Grenth's Temple (God of Ice and Death; As we humans know, usually connects with sleep) is nearby, and that also a statue of Lyssa is inside the cave for who better to keep the cave hidden than the Goddess of Illusions and Beauty?
And did anyone ever wonder why the Lich's portal in the Shiverpeaks appear near this cave, and not down right near Droknar's Forge like it was near Ascalon City in Ascalon? Hmmmm...Magical resonance anyone?

Feel free to point out flaws in my argument. I know there are some, and if anyone has any further developments that might add, or dissolve, my argument than also feel free to add in.

No Offense, but I think your over thinking this. Anet already said that the Elder Dragons are making up because they are hungry. That's it, no magically machine breaking. Also, I would recommend reposting this in the GW2 Guru Forums since you'll probably get a more interesting response there.

I understand where you are coming from, but I have never seen this confirmation. I went to look it up, but could not find it. If you could please link it?
I will agree however that when they woke up they would be hungry. Try waking up from 10,000+ years of sleep and not have a craving for food. I might try posting this in GW2 forums but if it is as you said, and it has already been confirmed about why they are waking up, than I might not bother.

I do find it rather coincidental though that they woke up in relatively close to one another. A few years, or a dozen years or whatever short time in-between each dragon, is a lot different than a thousand years or more, even a hundred years.

Outside the many 2009 interviews stating the ED are waking due to empty bellies, there is Glint in Edge of Destiny. She explicitly states that the dragon's bellies rumbled "300 years ago" (which is suspected to be a play on the "3,000 years ago I was made a guardian" said right before the "300 years ago the dragons' bellies emptied" - exact wording not in this post) and due to this rumbling/emptying, they began to stir but was put back to sleep by heroes (Great Destroyer situation anyone?). We know Primordus was put back to sleep thanks to the GD's death, it isn't hard to assume that's the situation she meant.

his awakening was just delayed a while longer.

Think of the Great Destroyer as a TV that someone turns on when you are sleeping. You may hear it and stir, and then the person turns it off. Now you resume your sleep.

It could be argued for either. Primordus is said to have 'stirred' while the GD is also said to be equated to his alarm clock.

So he was put back to sleep by removing the alarm clock which was waking him up.

The key point in your example is "resumes" - you cannot resume something without first stopping or pausing it. So you said two different things. :P

This forum is all about "overthinking things".

Why does Dwayna represent a missing link here? The angelic statues in the Hall certainly look quite a bit like Dwayna - possibly a race that Dwayna ascended from and that harpies fell from. However, I would say that with all the connections to the gods - Dwayna, Melandru, Lyssa - you're not making a very strong argument that the gods had no involvement.
