Petition for Closure
For many years now we've been fighting the dark forces of Menzies in the Fissure of Woe, and recently the conflict has increased as alliances have been made between the dark gods to band their forces together and cooperate in other plots like Nightfall.
We killed Abaddon (he is confirmed dead by Jeff Grubb) in the third campaign. We temporarily stopped Dhuum in 2009 and it's reasonable to expect that we won't hear more about him until Guild Wars 2.
However Menzies is still at large, we haven't seen him once and he doesn't even have a piece of concept art (as far as I know). Despite this he's a very important figure and the main focus of the Fissure of Woe, he is also part of the "dark triangle" who were active during Nightfall, and we've seen and dealt with two of them.
I would be very disappointed if there was no more development in this character beyond what happened in Nightfall, or if it was reserved for GW2 content. And I wonder if anyone else feels the same way. It was a wonderful feeling watching the Wiki page for Dhuum fill out with so much information and I feel like this game just wouldn't be complete unless Menzies was given his own time to shine.
If you are a GW1 fan and want some closure in the never-ending battle between Balthazar and Menzies, post and say so, and maybe Arenanet will take notice.

How would that work anyway? Adding a boss fight at end of FoW?
Here's how you could do it more epic then.. first you need to collect a few items around the world (Slavers, DoA, etc).. after completing all FoW quest, an NPC will show up to collect the items in order to open the gate to Menzies.
And his special ability? Maybe he randomly turn half of your allies into enemies lol.

Would be nice so long as we don't get a carbon copy of the UW scenario with new "anti-SC" monsters sprinkled all over the place. Maybe they could incorporate Admiral Saidon the Eternal into it somehow.

There is still plenty of time for them to add him. I checked at my local Game store and no release date is still TBA next year! So they gonna have to do something to keep us all interested lol

Menzies turns out to be a harmless old bag of wind. Puts up a moderate
fight, but easy to defeat. Surrounded by ill tempered mob of Menzies
Army who can be pulled. Drops a renamed version of Sskai's Sword.
Anything added at this late stage of the game should be soloable. Once
GW 2 comes out groups will be few and far between in this game.

I love the Dhuum fight, and support adding Menzies. As long as they don't make him too farmable like UW is. Give him a skill that removes enchantments AoE (a skill similar to Judgment of Dhuum, but removes enchantments, that said, if Judgment removed an enchantment with each pulse it would be perfect). Then the fight would be worthwhile. But adding him at all would be amazing nonetheless!

I'll actually be ok with it if he makes an appearance in GW2; but I've agreed with this sentiment for a long time now. They clearly meant to do more with this once upon a time (Admiral Saidon).
I'd like something like Bristlebane's idea of making something fun and interesting out of it. Scavenger hunt + epic battle.
Instead of a generic "kill the lvl 34 boss" how about a pitched battle with eternals vs. Menzies troops. You dive in and as you kill enemy troops your morale meter goes up and their's goes down, if you let allies die then vice-versa. Once your meter is full you get "Blessings of Balthazar" that allows you to deal damage to Menzies, and he retreats/gets defeated right before you can slay him. Queue chest with goodies and scene!

Konig des Todes has some good ideas on the suggestion portal about Menzies' involvement in GW2 and why it might not be the best idea to feature him in 1, however I have to disagree. He could at least make an appearance so we know what he looks like, at the very least, give us a piece of concept art!
Perhaps he can be an invulnerable "boss" in which the players go through several stages of a fight in an attempt to kill him, but wind up having to retreat instead of the boss turning into an ally at low health and running away or "going to sleep" as Konig said.
And I do think something needs to be done to break speed clears. There's no point in making new content for an elite area if no one will take it or the rewards seriously within a week of it's release (DSR and Mini Dhuum quickly became just a new econo-toy for assassins and rich people).

This is brilliant, I really hope Anet still frequents these forums.

the battle could be more like ...we win the battle, but due to some thing that happens during it---the big boss escapes (and has that long sleep to recuperate before gw2)....so that when gw2 comes out, he will be at full health again, ready to battle our descendants!

We have a lot of people here apparently who would start complaining that it's a copy-paste of Dhuum's situation.

Here's how I wanna see it ...
As a tribute to GW1.. we'll get through a portal and have to defeat Menzies real minions..
which happens to be random developer NPCs with their favorite skill bar, speech and appearance. For example.. Colin might be looking like a Grawl swinging a sword shouting .. i swung a sword! I swung it again! Of course his special sword ability would probably cause major pain hehe.
If you do defeat the random team of Dev NPCs, you get to meet Menzies.

I like chuckles idea of the giant pitched battle. Have the sides keep spawning enemies and the goal is to get the morale meter up to a certain point which drives the battle forward or backward, depending on what happens. Would be cool to see some massive pitched battles.
I will avenge you!

I like the pitched battle idea and the moral meter.
I have a twist for the win, Menzies finally shows up, makes a short speech about not wanting to deal with humans anymore, tells his worshipers that he is ignoring them and they should do something better with their time, drops a chest of goodies for the winners and tells them to please leave him alone.

Maybe a "Where in the world is Menzies?" quest line. A bit like the Black Moa quest that takes you around the world, in this case maybe to gather clues and artifacts. Final part is of course to battle Menzies, who might or might not die. Maybe his final act is running through a portal 250 years into the future lol.

Sounds nice. Menzies could turn friendly fire on and make all minions (spirits too) attack their masters for some time

I just want to see Menzies.
Have you ever seen Menzies?
Not a picture, not a mural, not even a glimpse or a rought description in some cryptic text.
I don't mind how or when, I just want to see the guy.

There have been some hints that something big is going to hit Tyria - in the Guild Wars Beyond timeframe rather than the part-of-the-leadup-to-GW2 timeframe. For instance, last Halloween's storyline implies that something else might be hijacking the Lunatic Court's attempts to bring the Mad King back permanently, and something's got the collective knickers of the agents of Balthazar in a twist.
It might not be Menzies - I know Konig has his own preference - but it seems that something's coming.

I'd actually prefer Odran over Menzies. But since they brought Dhuum out, it seems only fair that Menzies would be next since he's the last of the three Prime Evils of Guild Wars untouched.
