Please save us! The dwarves are coming!
For the past hour-and-something, I've been trying to do the refugees from Traveller's Vale quest.
Everything goes well untill those brainess refugees join me. Crying "Please save us!" and "The Dwarves are coming!" they run right towards the dwarves and get slaughtered. I am a ranger, I simply can't kill that fast to get them out of harm.
What is the point of shouting for help if you run to get killed?
Couldn't they just stick behind you and your group?
Anyone else experienced this?

Two solutions.
1) Kill the Dwarves before you rescue the stragglers. Clean out the area and as many wandering patrols as you can.
2) Don't try to solo it. Grab some henchmen or teammates and you should be able to drop Dwarves faster than they can drop your NPCs.

1) I can't kill the dwarves all arround because the stragglers are attacked. Would I stop somewhere to clear up a group, the people would be killed.
2) I tried the quest twice with a full party of allies and twice with a full party of NPCs. Didn't work. The Stragglers still rush towards the enemy.

My character is also a ranger, I also had trouble with this quest.. then one time, when my team were on another quest, and got wiped out, I alone survived without any res-signet.. so I thought, ah well, lets suicide to get the group back. So by chance, I went in the direction of the stragglers quest, and alone I managed to save *one* straggler, the one with the unique name, and that was enough to finish the quest.
The key is killing them quick, and you should be able to do this with a ranger or you're doing something wrong... I used ignite arrows and the wind spirit, plus my pet stalker, and frenzy since I have the warrior 2:nd...

i tired this about 5 times before reporting it as a bug
i tried approaching them from every angle, including going all the way around, and they are almost always dead by the time i can even run to them...whether or not i have a team is inconsequential if they are dead before i can even run to them.

Ah, they're getting aggroed before you can reach them or something? Hasn't happened any time I've tried it, they've always been in a safe spot and I've been able to back track them down the path I've cleared with maybe one or two wandering patrols which can easily be handled.
Solution #3) Give up for now and come back later when you can roll Dwarves.

This could be another quest interference? I know that some quests have monsters associated with them - if you have multiple quests going the monsters spawned from one quest can interfere with the other - that was the issue with Menhlo I believe - he was getting aggroed by the monsters from a different quest, and thus if you went in after having done the other quest or without it on your log there was no difficulty.

Its not a bug, got this quest on the 2nd or 3rd time last night. Run over there as quickly as you can, get a healer on the named cause she is the only one that matters while the rest of the group kills the dwarves. (as a r/mo I was using my area heal beacuse I was the first one on the scene.) As long as you make sure the healer is watching the named chick it should not be too hard. DOnt worry about the other refugees, all of them died and I was still able to complete the quest.

Hmmm, I got it first try, zero trouble.
I just sauntered in, killed the dwarves before they were able to finish off the refugees, and left happy.

yeah the mhenlo one was insane, worked on it for hours! but then i tried it the next day and he spawned closer to the zone entrance and the army of giant yak dudes was nowhere in sight.
i'll try the stragglers one again and just run straight through everything to them and see if i can keep that weak !@#% alive long enough to complete the quest. maybe it's just the timing of the patroling dwarves.

Oh, here's a point:
You only need to save the named chick. If everyone else dies, it's okay. So, try and protect that one, and you ought to be gold.
(Remember to have a clear path while escorting her back to the Bend.

I had 0 trouble with this. I had several other quests in zone I was working on, and while on those I noticed that when I ran past the refugees they'd be getting attacked or dieing horribly. When I started off for this one, I just ran straight to them, clearing along the way, but moving as quickly as possible. As a R/E, I had several area of effect spells equiped, so I ran straight into the dwaves, and just chain cast 3 of them. Dropped like rocks and I didn't loose a single refugee.
