Change it's name - Mirror Self ?! B.S.
Well, what they really need is a bit more creativity... starting to think the end game stuff was really rushed to meet deadlines. Ascension is stupid. Who thought this would be funny? Ok, maybe it is... a little.
I want to see a Warrior, or anyone for that matter, using the character outfitted exactly as they walked in, the skillbar they beat the three Ascension prequel missions with... I want to see them win. The guy is not your "mirror self" - he's uber just using your skillbar. You run fire down to 0 and stick incend bonds on for 10/1 and he's hitting you with it for 50. Mirror? Not. He does everything better... Mirror Self. Change the name.
So you cannot beat, uhm "Farrah Cappo's Dad" easily. Sure, we've got tricks to get him down... but they're tricks. You wouldn't walk into a guild skirmish carrying all the Ele attunes just to fill slots, would you? If you try to fight this fight, using normal tactics, it's highly unlikely you'll win. This clever skillbar rearrangement crap does not, in any way, help anyone become better GW players. So if you want to leave it as-is, that's fine. We know how to get around it. (... that's what we're doing, getting around it.)
So give the guy a name. Mirror Self. pfft.

First of all warrior is pretty much the only class where you can go in and beat him with your standard setup, I know several people who do that. Secondly you are wrong when you say that using clever tactics/tricks to beat him does not help you become a better player. This is infact some of the same things you need to think of when you create builds on a higher lvl (I am a member of n0 and have created a couple of builds that we used with succes). The reason is that if you wanna gain an advantage over people because of your build, you have to think outside the box to create something new.
All in all I think its a pretty fun idea that forces you to use your imagination, and if you don't have any, you can always go to a forum and ask someone that has who can make a build for you.

you know i agree on the fact that he shouldn't be called 'mirror self' but there are a couple of points i disagree with.
1. As Jak says, the 'tricking' of your mirror image DOES improve your skill. It makes you think about strategy and tactics, which is what GW is about. You can't just run in with "Spell of Uber Damage" and hope to beat it in 2 seconds
2. To get maximum out of your character you shouldn't have a 'standard set up'. You should alter it at every outpost to cause maximum damage to the enemies around there, or protect you from those horrible spellcasters, or to help buff the rest of your team. Not every area is susceptible to fire, so why take your 'standard' set up of fire out into the desert?
If you head into PvP and always use the exact same skills, people will see you in the opposite team and know exactly how to beat you down in 2 seconds. I guess you could view Ascension fight as an advanced version of the first PvP in teh Academy. Preparation for a real fight

This fight makes you think outside of the box, and is really a very cool idea.
As for casters having it rough, when I did it with my Mesmer, the fight lasted under 10 seconds, first try, with my standard build. I got off Backfire instantly, and he insisted on casting. Seeing as how my Backfire does 130 damage a pop, it wasn't much of a challenge.

I do not look forward to fighting him as a pure healing monk... because it's probably going to take for ever!

Haha, I managed to go back with a completed Fragility/Incendiary Arrows build, and successfully shot my mirror to death in about 12 seconds.

LOL I love how the egomaniacs miss the post and only reply to the parts that speak to them... I'm über and the rest of you suck and I must tell it so! You can beat him. I'm sure some of you who claim to have beaten him with your current-running build on the first pass had luck on your side, too. (I had one bugged attempt where he only used melee and skills, you walked back and he didn't pull out his bow. hmm.)
The point I was trying to make is it's NOT your Mirror Self by a long shot. Leave the battle as-is, I don't care, I can beat him with any class I'm sure... but he's not my mirror. He needs a "boss" name.

Sorry, this one deserves a reply. You honestly believe that loading your skillbar with useless stuff, to intentionally sabotage him and gimp yourself, is a useful tactic? You can't possibly be that... well. It's not clever, it's stupid. It's not the player's fault, he'll do what's necessary to win... but it's stupid nonetheless.

well with the way guild wars is set up, you can respec your character. u can deduct up to 24 levels from any of your skills and get all the skill points back. then u can become more than just a healing monk.

I'm sitting at a Lvl.19 W/R, pet is out of the picture now, made a stupid mistake and changed it with a stupid lizard that I can't be bothered to level up. I have 1/2 my skills as axe attacks, other 1/2 as bow attacks/rituals, does the mirror use any skills more than others?

My E/N beat her mirror 2 out of 3 (yes, you can go back and do it again after you beat it) without changing atts or skills in any way. The only reason I lost the first time was because I had no idea what I was doing.

Of course it sure helped alot that she'll stand still for my firestorm while I just step out of hers.

Lol, I took the advice of the forum and equipped a bunch of useless skills along with backfire as a mesmer, and the mirror went down in under 10 seconds.

Just load up on high damage output attacks and no heal spells. GW Monkey makes a good point that . . . what's his point again? He wants to change the name of "mirror self" to "uber self" or "mirror uber."

As a W/Mo I had the problem that my Mirror could heal faster than I could. Switching targets throughout the battle wasn't helping either, since the 'puter can do this faster than I. So I took all the heals out of my skillbar (so neither of us would have them available), targeted her at the beginning of the mission, pummelled with everything that became available to me (whenever the energy / adrenaline was there), and beat her on the first try.
