I'm having trouble with the troublesome artifact quest. There is no arrow and it says to go south from the frontier gate. Anyone know where the frontier gate is? Thanks.

You end up at frontier gate after a mission (cant remember, the one after northern wall i think) , and you need to head to serenity temple.

Frontier Gate is actually the endpoint of the Fort Ranik Cooperative Mission. While you are there make sure to get the Frontier Gate Fugitives Quest. The "fugitives" quest will take you right past the Serenity Temple (which is the endpoint for the Troublesome Artifact quest.

Basically, from the Frontier Gate, you'll head south through the Eastern Frontier looking for the fugitives. One of them will be hiding out in the Pockmark Flats (which is the area you use to gain access to Serenity Temple). Once you hit the Pockmark Flats the arrow will appear for the Troublesome Artifact quest. Pretty straightforward from there.
