The Wayward Monk Bug
I am not not sure if this is the right place to address a bug, but it seemed the only logical place on this forum.
Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone advise me what to do in this situation. In the Wayward Monk quest right outside of Yak's Bend you are supposed to talk to Cynn, guide her to Mhenlo, then finally talk to Mhenlo. So here is what I did and what happened. I talked to Cynn, so that was crossed off my log. Then I guided her halfway there when there was a total party kill, including her. So being that, that was the end of my day I logged off (I had to go somewhere or something). So next time I logged on looking at this quest in my log Talk to Cynn had been cross out as had Guide Cynn to Mhenlo. So in my head I said "nifty" all I have to do is talk to Mhenlo. So I get to Mhenlo and talk to him and nothing happens. The quest doesn't update and he basically says leave me alone (I dont recall the exact text). So I thought I screwed up so I went to see if Cynn was there. She wasn't. Zone and rezone and she still isn't there, and Mhenlo still wont help. This unlocks three monk skills for me including pacifism that I would really like to have. So what do I do? or where do I report a bug? or is this even a bug or something I screwed up? Just tell me I can fix it hehe.

Ok all you have to do is travel to the spot where she died( or close by it). she will be there just talk to her again and she will follow you the rest of the way.
I know this because this happed to me yesterday. and I exited the game and came back looking for her. she was not in the spot where you first talk to her, I had to go to where she apparently died while following me.
I hope this help s you out some.

Ack!
Thank you for the quick reply.
If that is the case I am in deep trouble, because I dont even recall where she is. In my wandering (as this happened several days ago) I have not seen her. When I get home from work I will give this a bit more of a detail search, but eek, that could make for a very difficult quest.
But wait, this just dawned on me. If I remember right where she died was a spawn site of like 20 monsters. So if that is the case that she comes back where she died she would certainly die again before I even get there to save her in order to talk to her. So unless this would not be the case somehow, meaning she wouldnt die for some reason. Then I am still stuck.

More specifically, if any NPC (including Cynn in this case) dies, you can zone and rezone back to the area where they died and they will reappear. In most cases they will reappear where they originally were, but in this case, with Cynn, she will appear close to the portal where you came in. Because you dragged her out of her normal zone (the Traveler's Vale) she should appear in the Iron Horse Mines near the portal to "her" area (Traveler's Vale).

PS--If all else fails, just abandon the quest in Yak's Bend (since you have to start over from there enyway) and get it over again. Also, if you finally decide it is not worth the effort, you'll be able to buy the skills that would get as a reward once you get to Lion's Arch.

Your PS raises another question then for me. So if you abandon a quest it is not gone forever, like giving up? You can actually abandon it and talk to the same person to get it back? Does this work for all quests? I ask partially in regards to this quest and partially in regards to the bloody endangered species quest. Thx!

When I did this quest once, I talked to her, then logged off while still standing in front of her original spot by Yak's entrance. Came back later, she was nowhere, etc. I decided maybe I didn't need her actual presence and followed the green map arrow to the completion point....I entered the ironhorse mines area, and there she was. (Edit - so you can try to see if she's there for you, before giving up/resetting, if you want).
I was kind of assuming this was her 'default' waiting spot if you logged off mid-quest or something....but she hadn't died or anything, I just logged off. Twas confusing, at any rate, alrighty.

In short, yes, you can abandon a quest anytime and get it again. You just have to know where you got it from in the first place, so you can talk to the person and get it back. I've done this quite a few times for various reasons: buggy questss, too many quests, etc...

Right on. Thx for all the help. I have a full arsenal to tackle this when I get home from work. Argh the agony of work and the torture of waiting to get back to my real world, hehe.
Edit: THX all, problem solved.

I've just had a problem with this quest also.
I found Cynn, led her safely to the Iron Horse Mine, zoned inside - she didnt come, but the quest was updated to just 'Find Mhenlo'.
So I found him, but he won't talk to me.
I'll abandon it and try again, but this is irritating =P

Well, tried again, and exactly the same... Guess its bugged !
EDIT: Heh, well I had another quest in the mine, and when I was running out Cynn had appeared, with a ! talking to her and running back to Mhenlo did it.
