Sure there was a cave. It had a couple of those mean spiders in it. Once you go left, you fight some more spiders and there's a captured dwarf back there who asks you to take him to the worn down ballista to the east. When you head along your merry way and leave the cave, there's a section of ground that is bombed out and is still being hit with ballista fire. If you look to the right, there is a path that leads down a hill and leads to the ballista he is talking about. Take him to it and then use it, it'll blow a door open.

To open up the cave to where it is plain sight. After we got the bonus we ran back up killed all the enemie sin the area and opened the gate. When we came back to the dwarf the cave was open. It's straightforward from there

What ****ing cave? I have not seen a cave and I've been up to what I assume is the last part where you use the enchanted torch to light something. These bonuses are too hidden.
I need a ****ing map.
EDIT:
Ok, the cave is REALLY hidden. To the left and behind Rornak Stonesledge (the dwarf that gives you the bonus mission) are some rocks with chains around them and a large pile of snow. I was able to walk into the rocks with no collision. Since the collision was screwy there, I assumed this was the entrance. I dropped a power keg inside these rocks and the snow slid away in a landslide, revealing the entrance to the cave. I'll post a screenshot shortly.

No clue, but my info is in regard to the Borlis Pass bonus. There is a cave and it's hidden, but I don't recall any plans. The bonus mission for Borlis Pass is to slay the dragon.

Let's be clear about things. The original post had the wrong title. Let's discuss both here to make sure no one gets confused.
Borliss Pass
The bonus mission here is to slay the Ice Drake. Pics posted by Ignotus are perfect. Grab the Dwarven Powder Kegs and blow the iceflow behind Rornak Stonesledge to access the cave where the Ice Drake is hiding out.
Frost Gate
The bonus mission is to steal the plans for a siege weapon. To get there you have to blow open a gate with an old decrepit ballista. You get the quest in the Dryder Cave and once you get out of the cave go down the hill to the right (as opposed to going across the bridge on the left) to find the ballista. The gate to the plans is the first one on the left after you go back and cross the bridge. (Hint: it is easier to clear everything out before you blow the gate to the plans, not as many groups to take out at one time later...).

With regards to the frost gate bonus, it is also easier if you clear out the mobs on the way to the bonus BEFORE you talk to the dwarf. If he dies during the run to the siege engine, bye bye bonus.

Here's a twist -- we got the plans and hit all the levers before Rurik died, but one gate remained stubbornly closed and due to this, we couldn't complete the mission. Any ideas? It was the gate that allows you to actually run down to the frost gate.
