Villainy of Galrath: What you should know
The purpose of this is not to explain tactics for completing the Villainy of Galrath Quest. I'd certainly hope by now you are familiar with Basic Tactics and Common Sense 101. If you need help, please refer to my post "World's Greatest Support Build" in the Campfire section of the forums. Having said that, I will now point out some basics for those of you new to the lands of Kryta and awestruck by the bright shining lights and casinos of Lion's Arch.
1. Villainy of Galrath is given from Firstwatch Sergio, the Skills trainer in Lion's Arch. You will no doubt find this out easily because the skills trainer is the first thing you look for in a new town, even before your avatar has completely been drawn after transit. It has a tempting 4000 XP reward, which is well worth it. For those of you who weren't around a while back, it used to be only 500 XP and bragging rights.
2. The quest is NOWHERE near Lion's Arch! Not even close! I say this now so hopefully you may cease asking everyone there if they'd like to do the quest. This will give you a chance to actually enjoy and play the game up to the point where you are near the best place to start the quest. There's no hurry, it's not as if you are going to Ascend immediately upon completing the quest.
3. The best starting point for this quest is the Temple of Ages. If you have to ask where the Temple of Ages is, or the Bergen Hot Springs, for that matter, you should not even be attempting this quest. You should not even be thinking about it, or having delusions of grandeur. I do not say this to be mean, I say this to improve your sanity. The simplest way to get to the Temple is to go to the Hot Springs first, then the Temple. From there, you can have 8 (!) members in your party and head due south to start the Galrath quest. (BONUS: You will find high-level and well skilled players also looking for this quest there.) For those of you asking in-game "Where are the Hot Springs?" (or Ventari's Refuge, Beetletun, Grendich Courthouse, etc,) I advise you to check a map online for easy, self-explanitory directions. There's very good maps available at http://guildwars.tentonhammer.com for starters. Alternately, you can use a search engine. There's a very, very good chance that if you are playing Guild Wars you may have an active internet connection.
4. Once you've made your way to the Temple of Ages, you can assemble an army of 8 the likes of which Kryta has never seen. Foes will tremble in your presence! They will lay down in hopes you will spare them! Or, they will wax the floor with your noob self because you forgot all the basic common tactics that got you here! Head south and follow the green star. There are plenty of excellent strategies for the heart of this quest posted on these forums. Hint: "Search!" this forum.
5. Reap your 4000 XP reward in Lion's Arch and laugh at all the people saying, "LFG for Villainy of Galrath! Have Monk!"

On a side note, speaking of the Sanitarium, I offer runs as a great joke there sometimes...from Beacon's Perch. That's where people are constantly charging 2-5k for runs to the Forge. I'll say something like this:
"Running people to Sardelac Sanitarium! Only 5k each! Pay on arrival! Meet me in Ascalon City!" also: "Free Althea's Ashes as a bonus!"
And you knew this was coming, but yes, I've had noobs ask me if I could take them. Further conversation has revealed they have no idea where Sardelac Sanitarium is. They usually get the idea after I say to the whole town "If you're actually willing to pay me 5k, then I'll be happy to take you." While I actually would take 5k if it was offered, I find the idea of someone wanting to pay me to take them somewhere they've never heard of much funnier than the execution.
Any noobs reading this post: Sardelac Sanitarium is a hidden north of the Grendich Courthouse. That's where you can get the strongest pre-Ascension armor at a very low cost. Never pay someone to take you there, you can easily reach it yourself with henchmen. Just go past the altar where Althea's Ashes are and keep heading north, the path is obvious.
