How does a MONK/Mes beat the Doppleganger?
I am going through acention for the second time... this time with a monk. And I can not seem to even get close to taking down Doppleganger. I am usually pure monk, and don't use my mesmer skills... but even switching to mesmer skills, I had no luck. With Smite and healing skills I also can not win... am I missing something??? I took him down first try with my warrior. Any info on skill setups would be HUGE!!! Thanks!

Empathy and Backfire. Hex breaker is good to use too for the first hex he casts.

I was same as you a Mo/Me when ascended.
All i did was pile all attribute points on smite, took nothing but smite skills and kicked his butt real quick. Was stuck as a smite till got next skill point but being a medic all the time can get boring anyway.

never underestimate the pre searing mesmer skills man, empathy and backfire last through the whole game if you have some other complimentary skills

Take:
Balthazar's Aura
Zealots Fire
Symbol of Wrath
Vital Blessing
Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond
Healing Breeze
Blessed Signet
With this build (I had a superior prot rune) I killed him in 12 seconds, maybe less.
He dies EXTREMELY fast to smites.
DO NOT substitute Healing Breeze for ANYTHING else.

Bring Empathy. Nothing else.
Whenever the mirror casts Empathy, cast Empathy. Dodge arrows.
Congratulations, you are ascended.
By the way, when you win, you will get a full 24 refund points back, so refund whatever you want to get your Domination to 12. You'll be able to change it all back afterward.

I won my fight pretty quickly as a Monk.
I only brought divine boom. (no other skills)
I read it on these forums and it worked great.
maxed out smiting and put the rest in Divine. I also brought a max damage staff.
Just cast divine boom when you need health and use your staff to kill him. He cast divine boom only at the beginning.
It was really easy, quick, and painless. (Not like the 15 times I tried with my ranger until I could figure out how to win.)
