Could nightmare's possibly be the new necro minions?
i was reading the necromancer novice quest in pre searing, and it said that Necromancer Mune's student had dissapeared that it had probably been eaten by his own creation.... could this be a possible clue for the new minions in the next expansion?

It,s actually just a quest for the necromancer that you have in pre-searing. not a pre-cursor to the next expantion.
You have to kill it too, it,s called a nightmare and it's at level 3.
But it *would* be cool to summon shadow type monsters as a necromancer.

Not only shadow monsters... but how amazing would it be to actually summon other undead creations... such as skeletons/zombies/flesh golems/nightmares/ect ect...
Ooo OOO!!! Or DEMONS!!! Open up a portal to the underworld and summon an armored spider or something cool like that!!! OMG I just had an amazing idea for a skill!!!
PLANAR PORTAL (Elite)
Necro/Death
5 sec casting time
Regen in 60 sec
25 energy
Sacrifice 30% max heath to bring forth a demonic presence from the underworld. A lvl 20 demon that fights with the necromancer for (10-60) seconds then returns to the Underworld in a fiery blast that deals (30-120) dmg to all those adjacent to the demon.
HOW FREAKIN COOL WOULD THAT BE?!?!

A summon that doesn't require a corpse... I might consider using that...

The necromancer can't summon demons
he's a NECRO mancer not a Diabolist ! It has to do with death.
But if you could use 2 corpses to power one summon such as a bone golem-type creature. That could be interesting too.
But shadows are just summoned from nowwhere. You'd have to have some kind of system to make them appear....
Darkbound soul (elite)
Necro-Death : casting time 8 seconds-25 energy-60recharge
You sacrifice all of you health and remaining energy to create a level 17-23 shadow with -1 regen that you control as a character. As long as this shadow is alive your body cannot be raised or used to create effects. When this shadow is killed you are raised with no DP and 50% of your health and energy at the spot where it was killed. 50% of failure with Death 4 or less.
This shadow could resemble the shadows in the South Shiverpeak mountains with a silver hallow around it to show other players it's you.

Interesting idea kawaii_bat... but, what happens if the spell is interrupted? Do you lose all of your health and not get to be a shadow? And what advantage would being a shadow have over a regular ol' character? More armor? Different skills? Inhabiting a new skin, as of that of a shadow, might be a bit complex to introduce into the game... an interesting thought though.

That would be way to powerful because you are "invincible" and unaffected from combat (or anything else for that matter) for awhile. (when your dead)

i know its only a quest for necromancer, but that is the quest to become a necromancer, the character type that created the nightmare was one of necromancer mune's students, and the nightmare ended up eating it's own master, maybe later on it would be an elite skill but a creature that has no master like a masterless minion
