Well if it makes anyone feel better. I don't rip people off with my items/runes I'm mostly just in it for finding MY PERFECT WAND (*droolllll....*) .. also to unlock items. I'm sad that they nerfed my drakes. I hope the other ones are still good. They dropped some nice wands too
I know I'm going to find it one of these days!
I also REALLY love selling to newbies! I was addicted to trade the first day I got through the 'tutorial' or whatever. It was so much fun!
Now it's great, sell someone a rune they REALLY have been wanting for a good price and they're so happy. I love that. I think it's important that some people trade for fair prices to ensure that people aren't getting ripped off.
That's what I think anyhow.
PS- i think stumpy there is right. The best thing to do is find a place that's easily accessible/fast, and soloing is really the only good way to make money. BUT TRADE FAIR money is easy to get, who needs 50k+ for a rune, omg.

The Golems at Perdition Rock used to be my favourite hunting ground, until the patch came along and made them harder to beat. Now that it's out of the question does anyone have any suggestions for a substitute location?

My fav. place to farm is around piken square (ive read that in a topic named gold question) you can find loads of charr hides there wich you can trade for fur square and sell them 200 each...
Considering that im only lvl 12 this is much cash for me (didnt got farther than yaks bend yet because of the hard monsters)

I never get the people who see a farming thread and then post how they hate farming. Once you finished all the missions, you either start a new character or you farm to unlock the rest of the skills and items. My guess is that these anti-farmers are straight PvP players who think the PvE players get an unfair advantage. Personally, I use my PvE character in most PvP combat because he has better stats and weapons.

In part I agree with Dred, that I chose not to make a pvp but take my pve characters into pvp, so runes, and good equpment are important. Even 5% difference in life or energy is huge in a pvp situation, so having the "best" focus device or even a surperior rune versus a minor does make a difference, even if slight, it could be the difference between life and death in this game. What I don't agree with is that not all of the people who appose farming are pvp people. I know gamers who don't play pvp who simply don't agree with farming, but I view this as a personal choice that a person makes and should not be forced upon the gaming community. Guild Wars should support a gamers choice to either farm or not to farm. I hope the devs work towards this, instead of making it one sided!

nerfed = take away power or lower price or really make it worse than it was, derived from a 'nerf' football/bat/whatever being softer than the regular item
as for farming...i suck, or maybe just suck at selling.
i only get wands and staffs with one mod that turns everyone off, but they are still good weapons. just noone wants them, especially warriors, piss me off, i WTS it they ask to see it, say yeah that is a good staff and it is worth 15k but im am idiot warrior who dosnt really need it, i just wanted to see it for no reason...anyway i dont even know what i am talking about anymore
oh and as for money, im lvl 20 many times over and only have ~700 gold never had more than 3k at one time, maybe i just suck at being lvl 20 but i can deal about 250 damage in a matter of seconds, which i guess is good for a ranger

Ouf, that was harsh ... what gives you a right to offend everyone that does not play the game the same way YOU like to play it?
1) I farm.
2) I only started farming after I had already completed the game and was bored + needed to unlock runes and item upgrades for PvP.
3) Now I often give away chaos axes, dragon swords and stormbows that are a couple points off max damage to newbies in Ascalon for free or for a symbolic price that I'd get selling them to merchant just because I know those items can make a new player very happy.
4) I know how to use punctuation ... =p

Balance and Farming
I think Anet is doing a decent job at keeping things balanced with the economy, and I don't think that the areas are getting nerfed I bet it some kind of rotation of zones and areas in the game that drop more loot for farming. Maybe the servers register that everyone is going to this one particular place to farm and just kind of moves the higher percentage drops to a different zone. I've been farming the same 6-7 areas for a bit now and noticed that the places that didn't drop hardly any gold and purple items are now and the ones that used to aren't.
I run a Mo/W to farm with but i didn't build it in time to jump on the UW solo band wagon. Kind of sad about that, but I'm glad they made that 55 Prot Bond build a little less invincible overall when it comes to Farming UW. Because when I would goto Lion's Arch dist 1 and see people asking 40+K for +30 health upgrade, I think to myself....that is alot of farming for me just to either find it for myself or find something to sell to get that money. Or for one of the UW solo monks just a few ecto.
Anyhow a few good farming spots for me right now are:
The Scar
Diviners Ascent
Lonars Pass
Snake Dance
Your going to Farm at some point wether to unlock upgrades or get gold to buy your guild hall or simply just materials for armor. So w/e to the people that think that farming is stupid or a waste of time because chances are half the people that say that have farmed at some point. Unless they like starting off pvp'ing with no skills and no upgrades unlocked. More power to ya.

Remember, the biggest factor of farming is luck. But there are other factors that people deem a bit rocky, but that I feel doesn't hurt to try. One I explained in one of the other farming posts is the using of a skill to kill off an enemy. A friend and I tested it out at North Shiverpeaks, and we got a few golds out of it. To put it easily, if you finish off an enemy with a skill, your chances of getting a better item is raised. Even thought that sounds very... *insert word that I can't think of*, it doesn't hurt to try, right? Finishes them off faster, if it's an area skill, even better, eh?

Umm, I've never farmed and I have about 90k right now have burnt through about another 150k on different things. I don't understand how ppl can not have money in this game. As I said I dont farm but I do all the missions and explore different areas on the map. I always try to take as small a party as possible and it's usually henchies as most ppl dont want to spend countless hours enjoying the different scenery. (I am also an amatuer photographer have tons of scenery screneshots.)
If while making a character and doing all the quests exploring you keep ALL the items dropped and salvage and when you get to higher lvls Identify and Expert Salvage all items you will have tons of crafting materials then wait for a weekend when the prices go up at the merchant traders or take an hour or two to sell in Droknars forge. You will have more than enough money, thats it no secret, nothing to it.
If you want even more money go to the temple of ages get into a Fissure of Woe or Underworld group and do some of the different missions. You will pick up some good items and things that will salvage for lots of money.

Almost true. I feel that you can farm anything with any build. It just depends if you have enough patience and when to know too much is too much. ie. First time farming, thought I could take on 14 griffs.

I do the grawl outside of Droknar's/Sledge with a few guildies. Not the best, but there's a lot. And with a lot, you're bound to get at least something decent.
And has anyone ever considered that farming might actually be worth something? Think about where all your beef, bread, and vegetables come from. Come on, give farmers some respect.
/end sarcasm

Why end sarcasm? It's true. Our stuff do come from farmers.
GuildWars wise, lots of things do come from the farmers.
