I stick the "Long Sword" I got in Pre-Searing on my IW Warrior and pass it off as a Chrystalline Sword. ^__^

Crystallines drop anywhere from the Maguuma Jungle onward; no, they don't have to drop from chests. >.>

Yes, but true crystallines (not Moa bird or Piken quest items) only realistically drop from chests. They can drop anywhere, but the odds of ever seeing one drop off a creature are on-par with you winng a real-life state lottery (i.e, not that great). Crystallines were farmed from chests pre-SF, but now that chests are keyed, chest-crystalline-farming is no longer feasible. The last place left where they drop semi-consistently is HoH prize chests, but don't hold your breath.

This is why max or near-max crystallines still sell for over 100k, even with absolutely crappy stats. A 15>50 req-8 max gold crystalline will shoot past 10-million gold to high-end power-buyers. So if you have one, don't sell yourself short.

Crystalline's probably do drop in tyria, when drakes were actually good to farm there were chests in twin serpent lake that people farmed for crystalline, eternal shields, storm bows, chaos axes, stuff that you would normally find in fow/uw but they nerfed that a while ago

the only place i know of now that they drop is UW and hoh chest and they have gone down in price range a max dmg crystalline's don't really go for 100k anymore

Not sure about this... a 14>50 gold crystalline sold a week ago at 1.8 million gold. Lesser versions such as no-dmg-mod, purple non-max-dmg, 12+ requirements, and similar won't crack the 100k mark, but gold crystallines are still hard heck to get without a decent bid involving lots of gold + ecto.

I have been offering 200k+ and other goods for a 12>50 gold crystalline for more than a few weeks... still no takers. What does this imply about their price?

Not true at all, I sold mine for 120K and it was only a max damage purple with a +5 defense mod.

You get it in Piken Square.
Not sure what quests though.
I vaguely remember "Fires in the East" or something along those lines.
