Nobody wants mesmers either, so I just play on my monk.
Actually, about these 5-man farming thing.. I get more 'green drops' with full teams than with any 5-man team.
So that 5-man farm thing isn't the thing for me o_O;;

I feel your pain OP. We can stand there for hours and still not get a group.
The saddest thing is, knowing that you can make a massive contribution and make things a hell of alot easier.
On one hand we can get mad that they haven't chosen a ranger, or we can be happy in the thought of them struggling without us.
Personally, i would rather PUG with henchies. They always listen, always follow, always carry a res signet, always refrain from aggro for the sake of a chest, never disconnect, never kick you for being a ranger...the list goes on.
I am one step from having Lina tattood on my arm, next to my girlfriends name.

After a terrible night in which not a single random person my group picked up listened, I decided to screw PUGs. I only team with friends, friends of friends, and GWG people now.

Try playing an ele who isn't a nuker. I explain my warder build to any group before setting out, and as I'm playing with PUGs, I still get get people yelling at me to "nuke now!" Guess what? I'm not there for damage. I'm there to help make sure you don't die. With a decent warder, a Greater Conflag ranger, and a group that listens, deaths are rare indeed. But nobody cares about anything but cookie cutter echo nuker builds in ele, and nobody cares about rangers at all.

Hey, that is totally unfounded. I have been a healing el/mo who maintains enchants with prodigy for our other monk's symbiosis for a while now.

well for me, i have yet to get any green drops with henchies of any number, i like to use a necro MM, but let me tell you, i have spent hours trying to get into groups, so i dunno where you get that ppl always want to take a necro, i have always had to struggle to get anyone to take necros even my own guildmates...and for several different necro builds too, so i feel your pain.
I'm also tired of hearing...no were are FA Farming...there's more bosses if you do not take the dam FA quest and you can use the gear to replace the keg trick, and you can still get into the furnace without the kegs.

When i make a 4 man team, i go for 1 warrior, 1 ranger, 1 ele, and of course 1 monk. The warrior tanks, the monk keeps him alive. The ranger is there for pulling, and then to interrupt or just deal damage. Ele obviously main damage dealer. It's simple, but it works, provided the warrior and monk are up to it.

I run a blood necro and get constant requests to switch to a minion master built....no. I play the way I want and if i can't find a group within 5 min, I go with a group of henchies...the full compliment of an 8-man party. I get plenty of good drops and don't have to deal with annoying 12-year-olds barking orders at me in 1337-speak.
I tend to play with henchies a lot these days...they do stupid things too (just like real folk) but they listen attentively to your criticism and never answer with "stfu you noob".
As for the Ranger issue...my first character is a ranger and I haven't played it much for the last month. I "finished" the game and moved on to necros...you will ALWAYS have people who are prejudiced based on their preconceived notions of what make good characters, but it has been my experience that this is truely a well-balanced game (based on the numbers of gripes that characters aren't powerful enough)...I've run several characters through the land of Tyria, and all I can say is that each one had its challenges and boons...running a smiting monks to Lions gate doing double damage...VERY cool...trapping the UW with only 4/5 ranger teams....VERY cool....
It comes to the fun coming from you and the way you play more than other players and your expectations of them...go run with henchies and quit waiting for narrow-minded folks to let you "tag along"...ultimately, with henchies, YOU are the boss and they follow you without question...If you pull a "Leroy Jenkins", no one will flame you for it...You will develop your own strategies that, when you play with "real" folks, will make you a better player

Funny how necros aren't wanted in Uw/Fow, but are in Sorrows.

I find that rangers are asked.. alot for SF runs.. As a ranger i also found it easier to say to hell with PC's grab 2 henchy mnks and 2 henchy warriors and farm on your own. Works just fine for me.. I clear the mine and about 1/3 of sorrows before i die.. the first time. Can usually clear a major chunk of sorrows with under 3 deaths.

The thoughts of every other person in GW that can't get past teh tank, nuker, monk combo is proof that no one wants the other 3 classes in gw.
