Simple Question About Ice Caves Of Sorrow
I have four characters that I have taken as far as the caves and I never really tried to get any farther as I was simply enjoying other aspects of the game like helping out guildmates or farming or running or whatever.
I figured I ought to complete the storyline at least once before I shelve Guild Wars permanently, so I tried to do Ice Caves Of Sorrow.
So here is the problem:
Is it possible to escape with Evenia while using henchmen? I tried fighting my way to the ship with no success because the Mursaat simply come to quickly. I tried just running to the ship while a healer guild mate tried to keep Ev alive, but again, I couldn't make it in time.
It is rather likely that I just plain suck, but I am wondering if it is even possible to finish this mission using henchmen?
If you really need to say how much you think I suck, that's fine, just try to keep your posts short so that I wouldn't have to scroll too much. Otherwise, any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

the trick is to not rush ahead... wait at the exit of the cave and let the mursaat go ahead of you... that way you can walk behind them and usually the cats take them out.. =)

There's no way in hell to outrun them, so yeah, let them go first, kill everything, and die from the cats.

I just finished this quest yesterday. Like it says above...the key to it is to slow. Once Evenia is free from the prison and you blow up the second door, just stand around for a minute with the Mursaat ele's on your radar. Give it a few moments and they start heading right down the path you need to go. They attack and kill EVERYTHING in their path right up untill the last catapult destroys them all for you! Basicly just follow them and they die right when you get to the end. You just fight one set of dwarves and thats it!
Sooo...follow the mursaat, keep them in radar, and let them do all the killing.
This is asuming that you've got as far as Evenia, of course.
Good luck, if you need help, call on Bolder Blood.

BTW, that "a minute" it takes - is actually like 4-5 minutes for them to even start moving...Then like 10 Minutes for them to SLOWLY push through the Dwarven troops.
Keep that in mind if you ever do it with a PUG, random people tend to either get Trigger happy, or Leave "because its taking too long".

I pity the people who come behind us should ANet ever fix that Mursaat AI "bug". That's the only way I see you could EVER complete that quest.

actually, the first time i did this mission, i didn't wait for the mursaat. i always thought it was part of the story for them to be "chasing you" as you made your escape. i did it with one guildie and 6 henchmen. completed on the first try.
it is possible to outrun them, but you need to take out anything in your way very quickly. and you can't run past the group on that hill, because evennia will stop to chat with them. you have to kill them fast too.
so although most people opt to wait, it is completely feasible to just bowl through everything in your way and outrun the mursaat.

The first few times I did this mission I also ran ahead of the mursart, and it seemed perfectly doable. The only thing is 1) it makes the bonus impossible unless you sacrifice someone and 2) I'm sure they increased the rate they catch up with you as the last time I tried to do it the "proper" way I failed horribly several times in a row.

It does seem a lot faster now as I had completed it a few times before without any trouble.
This is one of the missions where a "Kick Idiot Out Of Party" button would be extremely handy.
