Earning Your FoW Armor
I really want to hear from those in the game who earned their FoW armor. I'm tired of asking those who have it and they say "Ebay". I want to know some specifics, how long did it take you, what all did you do to earn for it? Where did you farm, what and how often? Did you run people?
I don't really want opinions on whether it's worth it or not, or anything of that sort. I want some good helpful advice on HOW to best earn my FoW armor.
Note: I'm a real lady, and I don't want to hear nasty comments or stuff like that. If you have something un-nice to say, say it to my sword.
Besides, I thought Ebay gold buying was against the rules anyway.

Simple, since you're a warrior.. go farm Fissure forest & spiders for shards
Ecto's => dual farming UW here
I spent lots of times in LA1/DF1 to sell, 15k profit each item adds up

I like the FoW armour for the ranger and plan on getting that one day. As far as I can tell, farming, chest runs and trading good loot are the best way of earning the gold. Farming places for the ectos and shard, or get gold to buy from someone else or the trader. Playing the game normally and following the story will not give you what you need for these luxuries. After seeing my gold balance take a big hit after buying some 15K glads, I've spent my remaining hard earned gold on a 55Hp monk setup. When I take timeout from the story and from exploring areas, I'm going farming.....E-I-E-I-OOOOooooooo!!!

Mmkay, thanks for that advice about farming in the fissure, but I only have 6k gold to my name, and it's kind of costly doing that. I can do the whole fissure spiders thing, but not well enough to make it worth the time and gold. In other words, 1.5 hours per trip with a couple shards total as my best pull from that is not good. I do better with griffons.
Any other farming spots besides the UW and fissure? Don't think it's a good idea to try to make a 55 monk either, by the time I manage to they'll probably change the skills for that again and make it hard to impossible to use.

Ettin runs are really nice with abit of luck on your side, there's also icy dragon sword solo runs. Although their price are dropping alot, but it's still high enough for some nice money. Buy low, sell high.

Running, farming, playing. Then not rushing into buying at high prices.
Essentailly, time is gold, and you need to get the best out of both. If I have sufficient time, I run. If not, I go on a quick farming jaunt.
Sometimes, I even play the game

Yeah, setting up a 55Hp monk takes time and money to begin with. Prices for the monk sup. runes are pretty high.
There are a number of threads on farming locations or builds for specific areas. These are the most popular ones at the moment:
Griffons/Minotaurs @ Augury Rock
Hydras @ Augury Rock
Trolls outside Droknar Forge
Grawls outside Port Sledge
Ettins in North Kryta Province
Ice Imps @ Mineral Springs (for IDS)
Other ways of making money, running to places, running missions for people. Maybe you could try scamming people.

In theory, GW rewards player skill more than time played (read: grind). In practice, FoW armor isn't a reward for players who actually play the game, it's a reward for grinders, farmers and ebayers. Old news really.
Let's hope ANet can implement better rewards for PvE players who are not interested in mindnumbing grinding/farming.

A bit of rune-farming and some good trades and a bit of luck and you're there. I made 400k the 1st day the new PvE tombs oppended as my 1st and 2nd run resulted in victo's sword and axe. Similar story with candy canes..
But noone belives me as I'm a monk anyways..

i haven't got my while set of fow necro but ive got the top and gloves and i can afford the leggings but all the forgemaster groups suck .
Anyway i got my ectos by running, farming UW a bit and cashing in on the new topk greens when they were worth quite a bit.

Milk any and all new crazes.
When Sorrow's Furnace greens were hot, farm them like hell and sell for high prices.
IDS was hot - farm them during the first week.
Wintersday season - stock up on Candy Canes and sell high later.
Tombs UW - farm for new greens (particularily Victo's) and sell for @_@ prices for the first week.

do what I'am doing...Farm n00bs...What i mean is, every time u see anyone saying: "selling gold items for 1.5k each" go check them...i bought a 1.5k bow from someone, and sold the max fortitude upgrade it had for 40k...i find its quite quick, and the best is u can do that and while u have the auction posted, u can still farm...griffon farming is good, but i find it more fun to farm the UW...

well, i guess it's finally time to let people know how i've made my cash. I've stocked up about 500k in 3 weeks time. First thing i had to do, save up about 100k with just plain old farming, anything. that was the first 2 and a half weeks. Then, i just bought low and sold high. and i mean, bought REALLY low and sold REALLY high. for example, stumbled on a req 9 15>50 chaos axe for 250k, sold for 500k ish. won't give exacts, but you get the idea. Seems like being a good businessman/woman will make you rich in this game.
EDIT: i know i said i saved up 100k, and the chaos axe was 250k, but i did other buy lows sell highs between that. Now i'm working on crystallines. heh. my secret is out. oh no.

i've farmed worms for shells hydras griffins ettins 2 man uw for ectos good loot for greens in sf and fow
the fow spider run is about 45 to 55 mins per run average 2 to 5 shards keys 12 to 16 spider legs @ 60 per all the white bows and staffs savage you get tons of wood ( wood is a good seller or make parchment and sell )sell the rest to merchant so this run is very profitable

Yes, yes, and yes! I farmed for the silly IDS when they first came out and sold two for 50-70k each. Victo's Bulwark dropped for me a few days after the update, sold it for 100k+20 ecto. Same with the other "new" greens, wash, rinse, repeat. Salvage anything and everything that you get as drops on farming runs and sell off the materials.
Running is (very) profitable. I was able to buy four sets of 15k armor and expensive Vigor/Absorption runes to go with each set with the money I made running Ascalon City -> Henge of Denravi/desert areas or the infamous Droknar's Forge run. (Forge run isn't so profitable now for me.)
And then I took the money that I made from farming greens/running and bought ecto cheap. (This was right at the time when everyone was selling and ecto prices had dropped to abnormal lows.) <3 Monk FoW armor

I couldn't agree more with this statement, I would rather do some very hard missions or
quests to get a great item rather than farming myself to death, I mainly farm for the
challenge now. When I first saw FoW armor I thought man I am gonna get that, then I found out it requires around 2mil in gold and materials and that took the wind right out of my sails, instead I just made an awesome weapon collection and had fun completing the game three times with a Ranger, Warrior, and Ele.
Sirshadowrunner
p.s. Good luck with the FoW armor....
