RoF Eidolon spawns at the front gate when you kill all the Mursaat towers.

Until last week I didn't even know there WAS a back way
I had always just breezed through the front door, oh well. One less thing for me to struggle through with PUG's

Some guildies and I went to Ring of Fire to help someone cap the Ether Skill from the Ele boss. Well wouldn't you know, the boss was at the very end of the "back way" . It took a long time to clear the imps and spider but we finally made it. After clearing out the back way someone suggested while we were there to do the bonus. We proceeded to clear out all the ether seals to make the Eildion (sp?) show up and killed him. Then someone else realized they had not even cleared the mission so we went on to finish it up.
Long story short, We killed every single monster that exists in RoF. A few of us died but we all had rez sig.
We had the monk hench and protector hench and Devonaa and the rest of us were about as mixed as you can get from warriors to ele's to necros. Point is we had a plan of attack (most times) and didn't rush in and get creamed and we finished the whole thing with no problems. Well...the biggest problem is THE BACK DOOR. Whoever thinks that this is the "easy" way is out of their minds. This way is certain death for a badly organized team. The Imps and spiders WILL aggro is you don't pull groups towards you and out of the paths of other patrols. And they will burn you to a small crisp in a matter of seconds. When I do RoF I always insist on taking the front door.

Something similar happened to me.
I needed Ether Prodigy (from Jyth Sprayburst), and he spawned way in the back as well. First we capped Mel's Arrows for the 2 rangers in my team, then we went on to cap me my elite; then we went on to kill Eidolon and easily finished off the mission for those that needed it.
And that in a team with me as a mesmer, 2 rangers (one barrage, one interrupt), 1 human monk, Stefan and the 2 hench monks

Always go through the front door. The Vizier apparently WANTS you to take the long, painful route. Which is odd if you're supposed to unlock what's behind the door and fufill the prophecy. Most PuGs know to take the front door, only been in one that decided otherwise - and we spent like an hour pulling and dodging the lava spitters, only to be nuked by the imps shortly afterwards. For my chars, THK is no problem, RoF is their little "painfully evil mission".
Many PuGs there are very sloppy, you'd need to frequently call and tell them to pull and such. Coventina is a real annoying boss as well, unless you have an interrupter or an experienced group.
Gl with RoF, I highly reccomend you gather some guildies or friends instead of a PuG.

Or even better: Take henchies! Never been easier to do a mission on my monk (except for the times my guild helps me out)!

Because Vizion is actually Lich, so he wants to deceive you. Don't trust him

After an easy time in Thunderhead Keep, we decided to ignore the Vizier advice of not using the front door for a challenge. This mission was easy as well. The only time that pee-ed us off was when the front door opened. Necro friend and I waited to get our full energy back, but the henchies decided to rush inside and die. We spent the next minutes pulling enemies out and killing them before we could rebirth them. Apart from that, the mission posed no problem at all. Plus we got the bonus.

Missions/Bonuses
You can do all missions with henchies including THK, RoF, Abbadon's etc
Personally, concerning Ring of Fire, I always challenge myself with this mission. What I usually have done (with all my chars) is to eliminate everything by the main door (including the door and any Mursaat patrols inside main complex) then I take the back way, kill spiders, imps, arrive at back door, eliminate everything there, take out the seals inside, kill Eidolon, run back to give essence to Seer (bonus done) go back, kill boss in gate house, kill patrols and boss on bridge, then exterminate the last remaining boss/patrols inside. (phew)
Going through the lava area at back is tricky but with good positioning etc and movement of hench you can usually succeed in taking out imps with minimum or no loss of life.
Anyway, its all fun anyway...
