I just wanted to give some info that I asquired by playing through the missions and noticing small details that you guys missed.
The ghosts people who failed to ascend are not the forgottens, they are the Eonians.
The Charrs are the ones who cause the searing, if you look at their flame temples, you would notice a sculpture made out of burnt trees, their firey gods are the titans you fight in the last mission, they are the reason the Charrs can use meteor shower to cause the searing.
The enimies of the Mursaat are not the forgotten ones, their enimies are the Seers. They never gave a name to the race which the Seer belongs to, but the Seer is the black floating character who infuses your armor at the Mines of Maladune.
From the game so far, the Mursaat are just a race discovered by Saul D'Allessio and worshipped as the Unseen Gods by the White Mantle.
All I can come up with so far....

I have to disagree haku
look harder at the effigies and look hard at a mursaat model
both have 6ish spoke like wings.
1 is just flaming because that's how the mursaat appears to them, the Seers are like the elders of the forgotten ones the model looks the same
snake tail, winglike claws , etc they just have that huge cloak like thing.
and that aint meteor shower they used. look again at the immense crystal missile in pockmark flats and tell me again that it's a meteor shower? The charr cannot have tha tmuch power unless they borrowed it from the mursaat.
you're right about the eonians though
and all signs point to the fact the mursaat isn't native to Tyria, otherwise we'd have run across their city. maybe next chapter it'll be explained a bit more.

I think the story is fairly good. True, it isn't perfect, but I think as was already said, that we will learn more with the future chapters. This is especially true since they will continue the story, not just add generic "stuff."
In a way, it's good to leave us with questions. That is a mark of a good story. Now, if there was not going to be more storyline to follow, then, sure, it would be found to be lacking for sure!

I read the manual, but the Seer in game said that her race has always been enimies with the mursaat. Try comparing the Titans model with the sculptures in the Charr camps. Remember, the mursaat use spectral agony, the Charr worships fire gods, and the titans is the race who has fire elements and hail from the ROF islands.
You have no proof that the Seer is part of the Forgotten, but watch the cutscene before the seer tells u to get the material to infuse your armor, she says that she belongs in another race, mentioning nothing about the Forgotten. The "wings" of the mursaat are suppose to flutter in the wind, but doesn't seem flaming. The only thing u seem to disagree so far is the meteor shower, which isnt that important to the story.

I I'm gonna tell you, go look at the charr effigies of the flaming gods- you can look at them easily in any missions in ascalon, looks like winged gods. Also, Charr couldn't have summoned the huge crystal missiles without some serious magical power, and those who we killed weren't all that uber with fire spells. I think the source of those magical missiles were from the Mursaat, kinda like a bomb package- " chant these magic words and dance around like crazy and that place goes boom"
|
Wrong. They didn't need the Mursaat...
... It was Gwen.
The bloodstones are all owned by Gwen. She reaps the souls of the offerings the mantle take her every now and then to keep her from tearing down Lions Arch like she did the Kingdom of Orr and of Ascalon. Why else would Lions Arch still be standing? The Lich is just one of the many servents of Gwen.
In the next chapter, Gwen is going to destroy Lions Arch because you stopped the last offering of souls - yours. And then she will use your hair to weave more tapestry.

Okay, this is in no way based on game lore, just speculation on my part. But I've thought for a long time -- the Charr are an age-old enemy of Ascalon. The Great Northern Wall was originally built as a defense against Charr invasions from the north.
So, the Charr have been around for ages, and have always had a hate-on for the human kingdoms. But then suddenly, one day, they devastate the greatest human kingdom in a single magical attack. Err, if they could do this, why didn't they do it before?
Answer: they had outside help. Someone told the Charr how to cause the Searing (knowing full well exactly what they'd do with the knowledge the moment they got it). My guess would be it was our "good friend"/lich. Alternately, it was the Mursaat, who for whatever reason figured they'd be unable to control Ascalon the same way they could control Kryta through a pseudo-religious movement, so opted to destroy it instead. Either way, the Charr almost certainly had outside help. They were a useful tool for whomever in their plans. So, yes, technically, the Charr caused the Searing, but I don't think they were the ones who were ultimately behind it.

Charrs seem to have two different god. One that looks like a Mursaat and another that looks like a Titan.
Titan looking one:
Mursaat looking one:

The thing is if the Vizier is from the Kingdom of Orr, he became the lich when he tried to save his country from the Charr invasion with somekind of incantation. And from the story in the manual, the Charrs also attacked Kryta but they managed to push them back to the north.
I think that by the time we are in the shiverpeak, the Charrs tried to take the Kingdom of Orr. The Vizier tried the incantation that would save them but it destroyed the whole peninsula..and he was sent to Kryta somehow with all the undead people of destroyed Orr Kingdom and they started looking for the Scepter Orr.

Maybe Balthazar decided to sneak back to Tyria and help the Charr out. Even though the gods abandoned Tyria after the bloodstone event, that doesn't mean they never came back . I don't see how the first one is really a titan. I'm not even sure if it's an Efigee. It looks more like some kind of flame serpent. The second one might have some wings, but I doubt you can really compare that to a Mursaat. Just because it has a few sticks coming out from the side doesn't neccesarily make it Mursaat. It's possible they're related, or it's possible the Charr just had a super awesome lvl 100 Elementalist with Meteor Strike (5000000000000000000000000000 damage :P).

I agree.
The first one definitely looks like a titan. The second looks more like the lich (which would make more sense) than it does a mursaat.
I'm under the impression the charr worship the titans.
I do remember the seer saying her race had been at war with the titans for many centuries. I believe Seers != Forgotten Ones.
That's my 2cents.

but the deal is Lich isn't related to the titans any way. he said the souls of the chosen go into the Door of Kadamony which is a seal on a power that can be used by anybody no matter if they are good or evil. and become titans- the titans are the weapons.
so the souls transformed are the titans .the mursaat were merely gathering an army then they would have annihilated the rest of the world with the power of the titans. it had to be both the lich and the mursaat seeking the power.

Also I forgot, if the lich is the vizier, then he can't have orchestrated his own death and eventual transformation into the lich. the charr isn't smart. they just want the taste of blood apparently.

You guys assume too much.
There is proof that Orr was destroyed long before the searing.
Look at the destroyed peninsula west of Crystal Desert.
Yup, that's Orr.
And it has looked like that since right after the Searing.
Also, I seem to remember that the Lich hinted he was behind the Searing in a cinematic.
But seriously, considering the Seer a Forgotten One?!?!?
And if the Charr would worship anyone, it would be the Lich and the Titans.
I mean, the Lich only invades Kryta, Maguuma and Ascalon.
He only wants to destroy mankind.
And he has the power to cause the Searing.
He sunk the goddamn Orr peninsula.

you guys need to pay attention to the story. The story said the mursaat were so afraid of the the flameseeker prophecy, and the terrible power that cmae with it, that they hunted down the chosen, and killed them to keep the Door of Komalie SHUT. They didnt want that power, they wanted to keep it sealed forever.
And the Seer is not a forgotten one. He doesnt look ANYTHING like them. Who knows who the seer is. all I know is he is not a forgotten one.
And to answer the first question. the last missions were not jsut fluff. They were just kinda lackluster compared to the crystal desert. They still fit in just fine, but I mean, they were just a little anti-climactic. Maybe if you had had to Go through the portals and halted the titans destruction or something. But the problem was, none of the fire island happenings were quite as epic as that Door opening in Augury Rock. That was epic.

All of you but Wheezer are wrong!
This is nothingn more than a simple little war between the Gods Dwayna, Grenth, and Gwen.
Gwen got tossed out of the God Guild and is now waging a war with Dwayna and grenth to get back in.
There have been posts about why only 5 Gods.
Why not ask Where is the Messer God?
It has to be Gwen using illusion magic to pose as a little girl. If her own "mother" Sarah didn't recognize her then just who exactly is this little "girl"?
Notice how convenient it is to have had her father die in the Guild Wars.
Thik aobut it for a moment..
You're a battle hardened Warrior/Adventurer roaming around the country side; which just happens to be overpopulated by thieves and brigands; being attacked by all kinds of viscious creatures - all of which ignore that swet innocent little Gwen. Something about that just dosen't seem right to me.
Did you also notice that that Gwen use that time to train us to fetch stuff for her.
Yeah! Sure! you got rewarded for doing that for her.
You got what? Maybe 500 XP ? that was for finding a broken flute. What'd you get for buying her a new flute and cape? Nothing And how many flowers did you give to her? She was training us to fetch things for her.
We have all Been there and done that for her. I know I didn't get the Tee-shirt but I did get a piece of worthless tapestry.
What has she done for you since then? Nothing that's what!
After successfully training us to fetch for her she used her magic on the Char to corrupt their worship of fire amd make it seem as if they caused the searing when she was using Dwayna's fire magic - fight fire with fire - and destroyed Ascalon during the battle.
All the Chosen are selcted and trained to retrieve items for the Gods because the Gods can no longer take things. Everything the Gods get has to be given to them.
That's all Gwen is doing Choosing people to retrieve items for her.
(if that's not the case then why are so many of us still carrying around a broken flute, a tattered cape and possibly some little red flowers?)
After that particular battle; which appears to have beena stalemate Gwen focused her atention Orr.
It seems that the Vizar had obtained a sceptre that, unbeknownst to him, that had a head piece containing one of the missing Bloodstones.
Gwen knew it was there and wanted it so she then [lanted the illusion into the Vizar's mind that Orr was being attacked, in imment danger of being overrun, and the onlypossible salvationfor Orr was to use the secptre's magic to destroy the invading forces.
Little did the Vizar know that the bloodstone held a tremendos amout of destructive power and when unleashed would totally destry evertyhing for hunderds of leagues in every direction. The Vizar found out about the stone the hardway, when he used it.
Not only did it destry the invaders but it destroyed Orr. Good thing Orr was a penninsula. Gwen used Water magic to erase the remenents of Orr.
While Gwen was in Orr pestering the Vizar Dwayna went to Grenth to inform him of little Gwen's plans and Grenth decided that he'd rather not be out of a job so he tossed his cookies in with Dwayna.
It was really Grenth that took the secptere formyuo on the island- the real Vizar went poof along with the rest of Orr.
Gwen found out that Dwayna had gone to Grenth so needing allies herself, she wenmt in searhc of the other Gods.
She didn't have much luck! Melandru had turned himself into a tree and was admiring the view of the orest so much that he was impossible to talk to.
She found Lyrisa* (sp"?) had packed a picnic lunch and was off in the desert with Balthazaar. Lyrisa was totally immersed in watching the dim-witted warrior in his head butting contest with the minotars. Lyrisda was so enthralled watching the muscle bulging fighter wreak havoc upon the minotar populationn that she was oblivious to everything else.
Gwen did not even attempt to talk to Balthazaar. She didn't know how to speak to him in one word sentences. All Balthazaar understnds are simple sentences that contain any of the following words: Fight, Kill, Blood, Sword; anyway you understand what I mean.
As far as the Muursat and white mantle types: these are beings tossed at the Chosen by Dwayna and Grenth to prevent the Chosen from fetching the remaining shards of bloodstone for Gwen; who plans to use them to enhance her own wand and defeat Dwayna and Grenth.
And that's the story I'm sticking with.
*Sorry I just can't seem to remember her name

I think the Flameseeker prophecy was that Door of Komalie would be open by chosen.
The door was closed by seals, those seals were powered by souls and the Mursaat were maintaining the seals.
There is a lot we dont know, the Mursaat intentions besides keeping the door closed are not clear.
As for the Charr ... the Charr woship flames as the form of their gods, I find it more likely that the Charr worship the Titans that the Mursaat.

thanks for the 2 pics, but I don't really think that there is any significance to the second totem. Seeing how realistically they made the titan statue, its kinda sad that they made the other statue to be the mursaat or the lich.
