Finally declaring allegiance
When I entered Cantha, the first thing I wanted to do was declare our guild's allegiance to the Kurzicks and then form our alliance. When the alliance system was fixed, I saw no Kurzick Ambassador anywhere. So I came to find that a guild leader must follow the storyline for a while to reach one. Here is the Mission order a guild leader must follow:
- Vizunah Square
- Nahpui Quarter
- Tahnnakai Temple
- Arborstone
- Boreas Seabed
- Sunjiang District
Each mission is separated usually by a Primary Quest, so after finishing one mission, look around for nearby quests (Primary Quests lead to new towns/missions). Once you've completed Sunjiang District, it will become clear what you must do to join a faction. For Kurzicks, the town you'll arive at is House zu Heltzer. There you'll see a Kurzick Ambassador as well as many quests that offer Kurzick faction. You'll need to save up 10,000 faction with either side to declare your allegiance, so you may need to do every single one of those quests. I'm not sure what town must be reached in order to join the Luxons, so hopefully someone else can provide that information.
I hope this helps those who are unsure of what to do to join a faction/alliance.

Our guilds had the same issue, wanted to setup the alliance and then choose a faction, but found out you not only need to play a good chunk through the game till alliances kicks in (sorta defeating the purpose) but then you need to search for the guys to side with. Kinda nuts.

no....I'm 99.9% certain they can't, would defeat the purpose of the game really.

I partially just wanted to /bump this post since I think it's fairly important info that people will be wanting to know, but also wanted to add a couple of thoughts as well ...
As a guild leader I of course don't mind that to declare which side I want to ally my guild with I have to jump through a few hoops. That's all perfectly understandable, and for what it's worth Factions is a vastly shorter game than the original GW so faction farming is a way to at least keep you playing the limited content ( though sadly an adopted concept from the end-game of WoW ... rather than have more content just add in faction farming ... )
A thing I don't necessarily agree with though, is that until you as a guild leader 'do' complete the necessary steps to ally with one side or the other, you and your entire guild has to run through numerous missions / quests in areas where you literally can not use merchants etc. Nothing is a bigger pain than having to map-hop simply to use a merchant because you're not part of that given faction yet, ESPECIALLY since you 'have' to complete missions in those areas to get to the proper city to make the declaration.
I guess the short way of putting it is that it was fairly poor planning that to use merchants near / at the first missions for each faction you already have to be allied, yet can't do so until you're a good bit past them. AKA you'll have already played the content where the use of merchants matters so why bother to backtrack at that point ??
Just a minor issue all told ~ not an issue at all if you're already alligned to a faction, but makes getting there more tedious than it should be.

I know Im setting myself up for a flame here, but I cant find it anywhere and have no idea the answer:
Once a guild member(not leader) gets to HzH do I have to allign with a faction on my character, or does the guild already determine that for me?
What do I lose/gain from being on each faction?
What the hell do I do after HzH?
