Rune shortage
Is anyone else frustrated because they are finding it difficult to obtain runes for their new ritualist and assasin characters? I know I am. I have managed to find a minor communing and 2 minor restoration so far and a guildie has kindly given me a minor channeling rune.
I have frequently visited the rune trader to see if he has managed to get any in stock and surprisingly he hasn't because anyone that has found any of the ritualist or assasin runes have either used them for their new character, given them to a guildie or tried selling them to other folk at ridiculous prices. I don't expect anyone to be selling their ritualist and assasin runes to the trader whilst they are in short supply and are profitable.
The minor and major communing and restoration runes aren't really that rare and you can buy them from other players at Kaineng Centre (although you will be paying over the odds). The superior runes seem to be very rare though and on the odd occasion I have seen them being sold folk are asking for far too much for them (but that's supply and demand for you ). I however haven't even seen a spawning power rune yet and I am beginning to think that they don't exist.
I think that if we have any more new classes introduced in the future that the developers should temporarily increase the drop rate of the runes for the new classes in order to avoid this problem. But then again, maybe it's just me and you aren't having any problems getting your full set of runes (for a fair price)?

i'm more annoyed about the fact that ALL the minor and major vigors have been sold, and vigor has nearly doubleded in price, THAT i find annoying as i have bought several sets of new armour.

Just checked the rune trader and the major vigors are only 2k and the superior vigors are 40k (approximately 8k more expensive than this time last week).
The major vigors, when they aren't sold out, are reasonably priced so I would save my cash and forego the extra 9 HP.
By the way, have you guys noticed the rune scalpers? Folk that stand next to the rune trader and constantly reopen trade with the rune trader in order to buy up the vigors and the other high demand runes. I'm guessing that they are selling these on to other players with a substantial markup. I guess if they wanna make money that bad and are prepared to spend their time doing this rather than playing the game that's their perogative but its really underhand in my opinion.

Prolly, or camping them for themselves. Posted 'wtb major vigor', got prices ranging from 6k to 8k, and with little wait and clicking, 1.6k from rune trader.
Got one for my new ele and assassin that way.

I don't really see any problem with any of these economy related-problems, and much of this was probably to be expected. I mean, people are advertising mini-pets for 100K and 100 ectos. With as long as some people have been farming in chapter 1 with nothing to spend their pocket change on, seeing what they're willing to pay for chapter 2 stuff is no surprise.
The market situation post-launch for chapter 3 will be really interesting to see, because people will not have had nearly as much time to farm Factions.

You have annoyed yourself. It's people like you with your need to own lots of sets of armor that are causing runes to be in short supply.

The shortage of runes for the new chars is annoying, like Anet didn't know that almost everyone who had a prophecies account would not create a Rt or A or both.
The lack of minor and major vigors is less annoying, as I've had several drop - after I bought of course.
That major vigors are going for around 2k at the trader, I recall them being 5-6k in prophecies not to long ago.
Problem is all the folks buying new armor for "all" their chars-x? Makes for a rune shortage or price spike. Try getting some materials.
But Anet likes the game economy, to the point that it is willing to lose players.
My soulution to this problem is to get a couple of prophecies chars through game, no need for armor or runes. At some point things will be more easily available.

I do sell them. So far I found a few minor runes and one major today. I sold them all to the trader, simply because I'm not training an assassin and my fresh ritualist wont need a major rune. And I know those runes will be common when he'll be lvl 20.
Yeah I understand it may be frustrating when you have a lvl 20 rit or assa and cant buy the runes you need. Players should be more responsible and sell the runes they find if they're not actively training a char. Speculating on an overpriced thing that wont cost more than 200g in 2 weeks is just stupid...

Where are the runes?
Does anyone know if the ettins will drop ritualist or assasin runes?
If not what is droping them since I have a lvl 16 rit and have seen none drop at all! I have just reached the market place. Maybe we should be posting the info on the canthan equivalent.
On a side note I took my rit to Lions and the first thing I checked was if the armor was there for them-NOT thought i could take a short cut.

It's mostly veterans with cash to burn that have this problem.
Most new players won't care for runes for quite a while, since majority will be still at starter island. Many new players will also choose other professions, or several others, so once again, not a problem.
Shortage is annoying, but the game has been out only for a while, and no public farming spots (if they exist) are available yet. Farming, while despised, does indeed supply the market.
This will settle itself. Whenever new items came out, they spiked in price, now they are in short supply. Even the resource prices will settle down eventually, so I'd say give it a week.

I pretty much agree with this. It's a market based economy. Much like Celestial Sigils were 100K for a long, long time, new and rare items will command a high price for a while.
I think the biggest issue is probably that the Rune Trader isn't adjusting to the market well enough. If the Rune Trader offered enough money, most of the runes would be sold to the Rune Trader (and easily available to at least see what the price is). Since the Rune Trader offers so little right now, players instead try to hawk their wares since there are buyers will to pay more than the Rune Trader.

That's a curious statement. I see no reason why C3 would be different than Factions. All of the farming opportunities that were available for Factions may well exist for C3, unless you know something the rest of us don't.
Things like preview weekends & etc. are probably going to exist for all chapters from now on, unless ArenaNet or NCSoft finds a problem with them. In general, unless something has gone horribly wrong, it seems reasonable to expect that what happened before will happen again.
EDIT: I see now that I may have misinterpreted that statement; Factions will only have been out for six months when C3 comes out, unlike Prophecies before it. Hmmm. I don't know what that means, but it is different.

I have found two already, so they do exist. Sold one and used one for myself. Both were minor runes though.
