Farming with iQ series - Chapter 1: The Duel Of The Houses.
Welcome to the first episode of the "Farming with iQ series".
This time I present you with a very simple ranger solo (with henchies) build to farm the kurzick's faction quest: The duel of the houses.
The build:
Spike trap {Elite}.
Dust Trap.
Barbed Trap.
Flame trap.
Frozen Soil.
Serpent's Quickness.
Storm Chaser.
Dodge
Edits: I'll be upgrading this build to make it more effective.
Removed Whirling Defense since it'd cause the Duelists AI to run away from the traps. Added Dodge instead to make it quicker to the Duelists spot
Wilderness Survival (12+3)
Expertise (12 + 1 + 1)
Steps:
1. Travel to Brauer Academy.
2. Pick 7 henchies (I use myself both monks, ritualist, both tanks, vile and domination henchies).
3. Run out the north exit.
4. Talk to the Duel Master Vaughn next to the ressurection shrine to get the quest.
5. Follow the quest arrow quickly by using storm chaser, arriving to the Duelists before the Master Duelist will give you enough time to set your traps before they turn against you.
6. Stand in between the duelists and lay down all of your traps making sure you activated your Serpent's Quickness.
7. After laying two sets of traps, run outside of the aggro buble of the duelists and set a frozen soil.
8. Go back into the mob again and start setting traps until the Duelists turn against you.
10. Once they turn against you, watch them explode then kill the Duelist trainer.
11. Redeem your quest reward and repeat the process.
This is a very easily farmable quest that earns you 400 kurzick faction, 2,000 experience and 150 gold pieces. There is casually a chest that you can open right on top of the Duelists spawn so be prepared with some keys. Hope you enjoy this mini guide :P

Nice guide, thanks for sharing. I am currently thinking of using UW rangers trapping techniques for this quest to farm it as a group. I think it should work very well assumming you can get the timming right so you dont waste traps when you have QZ, EW and SQ on....looks to be an over kill lol but should be fun.

The problem with this quest, is that dued to it simplicity, it can't be farmed as a group, since you have to re-zone to town to be able to start over. Having a party means that you have to run back to the portal, which takes time.
Turns out that the most efficient way to start over is by zoning back to Brauer. Which can only be done efficiently by being alone (with seven henchies), since you will respawn with a full clip of henchies, ready to go again.

I dont think the whole mapback is a much of a problem with a realplayer group, just have one of the rangers carry dodge

It's not a problem at all. I'm only saying it's not time efficient. In any case, I like farming alone anyways hehe.

No, I did not. This little guide was not intented to claim ownership of anything, is just a quick "how-to" meant for people not familiar with this farming spot that I wanted to share. That's all it is.
People's been group farming this quest for days now. They use a combination of trappers, nukers with pbAoE, tankers and 1 monk to make it through. I've seen and been in FF groups and well, I was kinda dissapointed that we had to wait to zone back everytime. And well, yet again, I like farming alone anyways hehe.

You can still do a chest run as long you have to wait, to wrap to the city. Just say everyone to wait at the gate .

1 ranger alone, w/ 7 henchies is definately fastest. I use a similar build, but use add dodge and brambles. If you take the quest, storm and dodge to the site, you easily have time to set 12 traps and FS and Bramble. I bring the vile henchie for blood rit and Cynn to scatter the mob with fire storm to get them to trigger the traps.
Less than 3 minutes a run.

A human group is faster: leave one player near entrance to Brauer and just tell them when to zone. And multiple trappers with spirits is far more certain.
Another tip: No pets, everyone takes speed boost to avoid early aggro of wardens.
Alas, nothing is faster than farming Luxon faction...

Problem with leaving someone at the gate is that he'll get shafted, as he can't cash his quest before having to warp back to town...

I should have added: You rotate "doorman" duty. (Obviously, a certain level of trust is involved; this technique is mainly for guilds.)

Sorry, 7 henchies is faster, for me anyway. I don't get shafted 13% of the time by leaving someone at the door. Collect my reward and warp back to town, no need to re-form party, or spend 20-30 minutes trying to find a party to begin with. By the time you've formed your party, I've done 6 runs. If you know what you are doing, 12 traps (with FS and Brambles) is more than "certain".
If a guildie or two is around, i'm more than happy to take them along, but I'm not wasting my time waiting to build a group. I'm farming, not screwing around making sure everyone is happy and accounted for.

Hi, I found that running with one other trapper and henchies is fast, after you lay traps go off to the side right before they go agro. This will get the casters moving a bit to trigger traps. then after you both turn in quest just map back to academy one person adds the other to group and off you run again. Had this down to 2-3 minutes per run when I was farming faction. Was nice being rich for a while. Think in all I earned about 135k off amber sales and selling chest loot. Made quite a bit of progress towards my treasure hunter title too.
Enjoy farmin', nice of you to share this easy technique with people that hadnt run across it before.

Thank you for clarifying. :-)
I would suggest dropping Whirling Defense for something else, i.e. Dodge or Viper's Nest. If you do it right, you'll never actually have anything agro'd onto you while you're actually trapping, so Whirling doesn't do anything for you.

iQ farming?... and I'm a PvP pro...
I've actually found that while they're still allied/green on the map you can lure some enemies to the area and they'll start beating up on them before turning hostile. Might take down a few while you wait, and injure the rest. I haven't tried it too much, so whether or not they'll always change their focus from you to the duelists I'm not too sure.
I know the few times some Oni popped up it really sped it up.

I solo run this quest (w/ 7 henchies, mainly for meatshields/beating the leader) as a ele nuker. Build below:
Fire: 12+1+3
Energy Storage: 12+1
Skills:
Aura of Restoration
Flame Burst
Double Dragon (elite)
Meteor Shower
Glyph of Sacrifice
Bed of Coals
Fire Attunement
Res Sig
Basically, run to the dueling grounds, put on the enchantments when the leader starts talking, drop bed of coals when the duel master says "the duel has now begun", and sacrifice/meteor shower as soon as the house members turn to enemies. Double Dragon & flame burst finish them off. Its a quick <4min run.
