I henched it with my W/N on the Luxon side. Only necro skill I took was plague touch for the throw dirt rangers. It was late at night, so the Kurzick team consisted of all henchmen too. I got thru it first try. Quite possibly the easiest mission in the game except for defeating shiro himself.

Perhaps it was the power of henchies, because if you will take note of my above post, many of the mesmer skills have little or no effect on the Kuunavang.

Why don't you try doing it with henchies and tell us about the power of henchies...
As for your post, you might need to do more testing...

I Dont think the "regular" interrupts work, I tried it as Ranger/mesmer and had an impressive array of interrupts -with no luck
However, skills that cause Dazed might "assist" in interrupting the dragon but I have yet to confirm it.

Thank you Roupe, that was the information I was hoping to get here, that someone else had a similar experiance. I do think that there are a number of ineffective spells/skills here and people need to be somewhat careful of that going in to this mission.
As for this ..... lmao:

As I stated in that post that again you failed to read (suprising with such keen observational skills), I did complete and master this mission with the hench, *without even playing*.
I was testing, alt-tabbing, and posting here while I received the master's designation. 15 henchies and one afk mesmer for the win. I guess my afk mesmer is as powerful as you are at the actual keyboard. Perhaps you should do some testing on the effectiveness of the skills *you* we're using. xD

I did this with my mesmer and failed to interrupt anything on my first try. Our group immediately tried again and succeeded. I found that Cry of Frustration would interrupt the Spores. I wasn't quick enough to interrupt the Lightning but our ranger spammed his interruptable shots and got it once or twice.

War/Mo +15 Henchman 8:42 total time. I brought the Blood, Vile, Dom, Devona, Spirit, Prot, & Healer henchies. I did not attack much and carried the resurrect orb most of the time. Shift-Ctrl-Space (for targeting) is your friend. In the final battle I had to rez a few fallen computer friends. Besides that, it went extremely smooth versus my PUG attempts.
Now the trick is to get the 15 man hench team...

Unfortunately, you're wrong and so is Roupe. Spend more time reading and testing. His skills CAN be interrupted but interruption does not always work. So if several ppl/bots try to interrupt. Some will get through.

And your evidence to support your opinion here would be ....... ?
The tests I performed are not wrong, they are an indisputable fact as they we're simply my test results, not my opinion.
I have done actual testing and posted my results. You clearly aren't capable of the same, so your posting holds no value. It's entirely based in conjecture without any basis is reality.
I suggest you learn how to participate or at least stop posting conjecture without data in this thread. Your "information" is not helpful when its not based in actual testing.
Does anyone else out there have any actual data to post? I'd like to hear about people's actual experiences with this mission.

I'd agree - I had a pug going ape at me coz I wasn't doing my job and interupting the Dragon. I had Fw & RtW up and was using Distracting and Savage in quick succession.
Wasn't until one of the other players actually watched what I was doing that they believed me, statements like "wtf, he just used savage and distracting and neither worked!!!" made me feel a whole lot better as I though it was just me being crap to begin with.
We went a second time and another Ranger joined and we both tried to interupt him and we didn't succeed in stopping any spells.
I might do it again with Concussion and see if that helps.

frickaline, MaglorD have earlier stated that it was possible to interrupt the dragon, cry of frustration, once(if my interpretation is correct
The Npc on the Luxon side (Elder Oxis) says (im sure there is a equvivalent on the kursick side)
Quote:
1. Ranged attacks and spells are the only means to hurt Kuunavang.
2. You will have difficulty interrupting her attacks
|
So it may be possible, otherwise Elder Oxis should have said something else, question is if its worth the hazzel
Degen is probably more tactically wise rather than bringing disruptiond skills and hoping it gets through with slim odds.
If you cant stop it, kill it.
Edited
I tested Broad head arrow and concussion shot, it worked to disrupt the dragon. . However it was difficult to do due the obstructed tail, and high cost (despite expertise)of said skills. Did it several times, so it has a better success rate -or I was just lucky

I'm sorry but I find comments like "Gee it only took me the power of mesmer skills" not helpful to anyone here. In this thread, people are looking for assistance on this mission, not providing someone with the opportunity to pat themselves on the back while failing to assist those in need.
I am thankful that there are some contributors that are willing to help other people out by providing information from their testing, particularly you Roupe since your information has been quite specific. And I am sure that some of my guildies, as well as the general public will benefit from this information.
From what I saw, different skills were consistently effective/ineffective against specific dragon skills, but perhaps this was only my experience. I was hoping to end up with a list of effective and ineffective skills per dragon skill, but that's going to require a huge amount of testing and I don't have the time to pull all that information together. For now, the best I can do is to say, I found that diversion works reliably on the spores/scales (but not on the lightning), skill interrupts on the lightning (if you are quick, but not on the spores/scales).

I did this again on my necro, but this time went curses and switched to ranger as a secondary.
Spinal Shivers + Winter ==> massively interrupted dragon.
As I recall she got off some of the lightning skills because those are faster casting, but she was not able to do corrupted spores/scales.
Just my observation, but I do believe she is interruptable.

also, you can skip the whole damn thing and go straight to the last battle people... just on the first encounter with the dragon kick the SH!* outta him and it will skip the whole mission straight to the end battle.

Alright just want to clarify the interupt thing for ppl that still have probs with this mission.
Any interupt that should work will work ie mesmer's cry of frustration, complicate and rangers etc (skill interupts).. Only problem is you have to do it atleast 3 times right after the other to interupt one of her skills. This is why people notice the interupts working sometimes because maybe 2 or 3 people are trying to interrupt her at the same time but only the person who did the 3rd interupt notices it, the first two didnt stop her cast but it helped.
Now im not 100% positive if the number to interupt her is 3. I played a mesmer with leech signet, complicate and cry of frustration and I managed to interupt her at the 3rd interupt always so she barely got off any scales... It might be just a random number above 2 or something... This is why spinal shivers is pretty good because it does the interupt at every shot of your wepn and hitting her 3 times while she is casting is easy enough.

Not exactly possible to kill her the first time as she runs away when she takes a certain amount of damage.
