Population per faction... Balanced ?
Has whoever is in charge bothered to monitor and ensure that one faction does not drastically outnumber the other ? This has been in issue in pretty much every online RPG with pvp that I've played.
In Star Wars Galaxies everyone was a rebel. In DAOC everyone was usually Albion, in World of Warcraft everyone was Alliance. Pvp was just stupid, typically I'd have 5-1 odds in every fight due to the population disparities.
While it might not pose an issue with instanced pvp it does pose an issue for those waiting to get into those pvp games. If everyone joins one faction, one side is going to get lots of pvp, while the other sits and waits in queue for... ever.
I saw this in World of Warcraft. On my server Alliance made up 75% of the server, so when battleground queue's started up Alliance had to wait 2 hours at times to enter a pvp fight meanwhile Horde were fighting constantly.
I hope that the dev's are keeping track of the population and ensuring one side doesn't drastically outnumber the other.
If so, look at why people are joining one side and provide incentives to join the other.

Its all because of armor, apparently the themes for each side was much better favoring the kurzick. I am one of these people as well as countless others, its all mentality where you love the offering on one side so you choose to go w/ that side even though in the end, it really doesn't affect anything. the 1.5k kurzick and the 15k kurzick own the majority of the luxon armors, people think that if they don't allign w/ the kurzick, they can't get kurzick armor, not realizing that pve doesn't affect anything at all which side your guild fights for. Its all due to poor design, yes I say armors differences for each side is good but there should've been more than that, like a pro and con for each side that people find attractive, or better yet, anet could've educated people that you can still get armor on either faction whether who your guild aligns w/.
That and people just take this luxon vs kurzick way to seriously, frankly I'm thinking some of these people would be quite interesting to meet in real life the way they act and talk in game.

Maybe if you're rich. I went with Kurzick simply because I found the quests easier during the preview and had 7k faction for them at release. Not everyone has millions they can spend on 80 or 30 amber/jade in addition to all the other resource costs. Last time I checked, PvPers detested farming.
Everything will balance out in the end, once people get the armor they want.

Ceb. is right. I went with the Kurzicks mainlt because I didn't realize you could switch with your PvE character. Now, that isn't saying that I don't like the Kurz. theme more, its just that if I had known that I may have given both sides a more equal look.

This is why I really don't like discussions w/ pure pvp players, they're so narrow minded, Darwin must be turning in his grave right now. Last time I checked, all the rich people in guild wars were power traders... guess what? you're talking to one of em, I only farmed about 1/10 of my crap, the preconceived notions by these pvp experts are somewhat laughable, actually it is.
Did you even understand what I said? all your guild leader has to do is go to cavalon, allign w/ luxon then play the game through kurzick and you'll still be luxon, meaning you can get the armor you want still, and vice versa. If you really dislike pvp, there is a thing called alliance battles where its actually pvp and you get factions, its farming faction but as long as its pvp, its not "grind" You guys gotta realize that theres alot of resources out there and you can survive more than 1 way, just dont expect everything handed to you at the start. Also last time I check, you didn't have to spend millions on armor, heck faction armor could be gotten for their base price as you can get jade and amber for free and in quick time if you know how to.
Game could've had so much more potential, but I guess thats what happens when you separate a dev team so that you can churn out games every half year or so, hope the original devs from prophecies turn out for chp3, faction itself is a great game but it could've been so much better. Also, the story notions that you must choose a side and makes it sound that you'll be stuck there forever, that may be true for the pvp aspect of things but when you play the pve part, you can do everything in game from either sides w/o affecting your loyalties. That should've been clarified, as I know low level guilds split up due to conflicting ideals on where to go, mainly due to armor selections w/o realizing they can get both.

even if one population exceeds the other, battles will still go 12v12, so if there are 100 of A and 300 of B, the 100 of A will be figthing 100 of B while the other 200 of B sit at their outpost chatting about strategies or bragging about how B is better than A due to A being afraid of facing B.

yeah, I find it absolutely retarded hilarious how some of these people get so into the whole A vs B thing that they start talking shat to one another Making lame jokes and insulting the other sides. Honestly, if my guild wasn't all kurzikified(again due to armor) I'd rather prefer to be luxon situated as their scenery is much more pleasant. Don't get me wrong, kurzick is alright, but luxon got the whole jade sea going on. STill people take the game too seriously, which IMHO, is a big part of the problem, everyone wants to be in the winning side so they can talk crap.

Heh, I helped convince my guild to go Kurzick because I thought Luxon was going to be the more popular one. How wrong was I? :P

Luxon seemed cooler because they were pirates and had siege turtles. Doesn't matter, but I liked the idea.
