Captured Son Quest - Selling The Letters
I've seen a lot of level 20's hanging out at Seitung Harbor selling the quest item (a letter). It just so happens I unwittingly self-invited into a group led by one of these individuals - a level 20W.
His partner told us that we all have to "do something for them at the end of the quest." At the time I wasn't sure what it was he wanted us to do, nonetheless, I never agreed to anything other than to help with the quest. Soooo...we get to the end, I grab my letter (as does everyone else) and the level 20 tells everyone to drop them. Say what?
I watch as everyone does as he asks without question. Being the leery, distrustful person that I am, I mapped out to the Harbor and proceeded to get my 4000 XP. Minutes later, I see the level 20 I had grouped with, spamming the quest item for sale. Hmm.
Anyone know what the deal is? I asked around the Harbor and no one would speak up.
A. Did he just snatch up all the dropped letters and leave? Scam-O-Rama?
B. Is there a glitch that allows you to take more than one letter if you drop it and someone else picks it up?
C. Should I go into business myself?

Yeah... sounds like a scam. I did that quest for people when I was trying to raise iron, and I never got a second drop.

I'd guess they get another letter when they drop the one they have, making the quest go back one step, and get another letter.
Rinse and repeat, get new letter, drop the one you got, get another, drop, get, drop etc until you have inv full of them.

I don't mind, they all sell for 500 gold, and you get a 500 gold reward from the quest, yay.
so if they make a little profit and I make 4k xp, woopy.

I found cap son easy, provided you do not head straight in but loop around to the left and head up the beach.
I combine it with several other quests in the area, ideally if you can also include it with helping out Su as that give you 4 allies as well!

And? This is not what this topic is about...
______
A fair price for the letter is 500gold(assuming what Kaguya said is true) else 1k is fair.

My husband and his brother decided that the previous price of 1k for the quest item was far too high. They started selling the letters for 500g. They did the same thing with Naga pelts.

Couldn't get the letter, then quit the quest... Then just take the quest up? thus restarting the quest?

Is it not? And I thought that by doing the quest properly then you take away the demand for such items and people do the quest as it was designed to be done and not pay their way through the game, but then that may just be me?
BTW I have seen them sold for 350g

I've never bought the letter for more than 300g.
After you finish the quest, and have got the letter from the son, drop it, then talk to the son again, and he will give you another letter.
After a few rounds of this there are 20-30 letters on the ground. Make sure you have plenty of inventory space .
When I'm in the habour, I normally tell people how to get multiple letters. One the sellers actually whispered me saying, "You noob don't tell people otherwise A.Net will nerf it." And I thought, hey I'm not the one going "Captured Son letters for sale, 10 left".

This is really old. I was one of the first people to do this and used to sell them for 1k a piece. Now that the market is ruined, I've moved on to other ventures.
