What are people doing with mountain troll tusks and where are all these cheap shiverpeak keys coming from?

Likely just making a completely random and irrelvant link, its just something that keeps nagging away at me whenever I see those adverts in Droks. After a scout on Guildwiki I didnt find any marketbale purpose for the trolltusk collector items (healing prayers focus +27 energy is the only one that can be sold really and its not from this collector) however I found this helpful tidbit:

maybe a acertain item has a higher resaleable value to a merchant than the cost of buying the tusks, but the shiverpeak keys thing has me totally stumped.

ppl buy the keys on mass and then run to the collector and get as many collectors items as poss and sell them to trader for a small profit.

only works if u have a empty inventory and lots of troll tusks

Any of the shiverpeak collector's items has a value of 125 gold. If you buy the collector materials cheaper than that, you've made money.

Regarding keys, the troll farmers get keys left and right. They sell them for slightly over what the merchant buys them for in order to clear inventory for the next run.

Thanks guys. Thought there was some exploit, if I remember right most collectable drops in factions at least sell for 25g to trader so guessing this doesnt work anywhere else. And damn, I used to do a few troll runs when it was all new and spanky and droprate for keys seems to be same as anywhere else. Guessing its bots or people who dont care about the repeat farm a map nerf.

Those Trolls just happen to be a popular spot to farm (VERY POPULAR) - so you see ALOT of Keys and Tusks.

Theres a market for Tusks because Tusks are about the only highend collectors item that you can easily buy in STACKS - because so many people farm there and get hundreds of them.

Even though the same "profit" could be made at any other high end town and collector, Tusks are the only you you can buy enough of where it really makes an impact.

Keys are because Theres a demand for Shiver keys (Because of the easy and fast Port Sledge run being good for getting the title) and these farmers can make a sure profit selling to this guy overt the merchant.

AS for your Factions comment - Yes, they made it where all the collectors items like Jade Bracelets can be merchanted for the same profit that getting the collectors item would net you. In Chapter 1 there are several items that only sell for like 8 gold to the merchant, but 5 can get your 125gp item.

Stone Summit Badges are another example, but you can get those in the low level areas as well.

there is one item that i know of that you can collect, turn into the collector, and sell for more to the merchant. the item is.... vermin hides.
