Another tip after a frustrating run on the kurzick side. If you see EoE go up, KILL IT ASASP. Especially if you're some fire ele, assassin, or warrior; someone with a good DPS, for god's sake. I was on my poor mesmer who used a wand that didn't meet the reqs., and had to resort to smacking the spirit for 2-3 dmg. If that spirit stays up for more than a few seconds in the range of Gunther with a lot of people in its range - you'll be damn sure to lose. Why? Because lots of people = lots of deaths = lots of EoE triggers = EoE bombed your butt to a loss.

I've had a couple of games where I was bonding the Green gate and an Oath Shot ranger started spamming EoE just outside. Fortunately, I had a pretty good idea that he was the only character capable of hurting me or my Elementalist...

...So I asked the entire team to get back behind the gate. Zero fighting meant zero human deaths meant zero damage, and with Protective Spirit up at all times I didn't care about the only other possible gamebreaker (turtles). The attacking MM's minions didn't last too long with EoE up, though.

Yeah, yesterday I had enough. For 5 hours I earned 2-3k factions, that was ridoculous. I took some screens and wrote to PlayNC at 3am, today I woke up and got an answer (6 hours later)

I disagree with the elementalist guide. Wards don't work in aspenwood, the battle moves too quickly. That is, unless you're already screwed right back to the green gate, in which case the elementalist NPCs will drop the wards for you... in which case you are still useless.
