Guild Wars: Boring Factions
Is it just me or does factions not offer much challenge and the same urge to play the game like Prophecies did? I was bored with factions already 1 week after release...I remember the good old phrophecies times where i played for 16+ hours a day. With Factions everything changed...i log on, see all friends offline and log off. Gameplay is horrible imho.
...i feel ripped off for paying 50 bucks for this game!

I can only presume you mean PVE. PVP is as good as ever, my guild is only scratching the surface of all the new builds we want to try...
And if you seriously played 16 hours per day of PVE in Prophecies, then your capacity for boredom is so great Factions should be a breeze...

I was really bored with Factions quick to, but the trick is to find something you want. Example - really wanted 15K Kurzick armor for my Warrior, but needed 80 Amber to do it. Now not being rich I had to earn that Faction through quests, Farming, and alliance battles. Actually started to have fun. And if you can get a Ferry in to the Elite Missions, that's fun too. I agree though, Prophecies was much better, and made you want to keep playing.

this just lacks the same excitement that prophecies did...i mean in proph. there was always that aura of OMG whats gonna happen next or Wow didnt see that coming...and with the addition of FoW and UW you always had something to do. And then I spent like a month working for my grotto armor (tear* trying to get 15k luxon armor) and I cant really badmouth factions either because I love the fact that the bosses are more challengeing and the larger diversity when it comes to henchmen. I havent even beaten it yet...Im to facinated with alliance battles to care much about the storyline (plus I cant get a good PUG in the hatchery mission for luxons) I think that both have alot to offer when you link them with your characters....I was really dissapointed when it came to the new professions though.....Assassins are really only ment for PvP just because they are sooooo fragile...I got one hitted every mish at least once before I deleted my sin then there is the rituilist that really isnt that bad its just very hybrid when it comes to pve and I got to lvl 10 and still didnt know my role in the groups....i mean when you want a healer dont get a flippen Rit/Mo go for the monk! I am likeing the challenge that it brings to the table though.....and I tell you all now dont even think of gaining control over a town....there is to many guilds that have bought the collectors addition that had it a day before for any joe like me to gain control of a town....but I can wish.....I do like the titles thing too it gives every aspect of how you play GW a meaning ya know...before it was like ohhhh Random Battle PvP what do I get from it? Ya know? But Its keeping me busy for the most part....=)

Factions boring? Nope, not for me.
I started new characters, professions that I've never played before (a Necro and an Ele, the new Factions professions didn't interest me) and having fun. I have money and stuff in storage but I didn't dip into it. I'm doing the things that I did when I first started out in GW Prophecies - exploring (scenery in Factions is fantastic), saving for armour/weapons, reading npc speech, watching cinematics, etc. - basically taking my time and enjoying myself.
New campaign, new characters and a lot of learning of skills/spells, their abilities, strength and weakness are keeping me excited, entertained and busy.
The only thing that I do find boring are some of the quests that require you to go here, there and everywhere - just to deliver a message or something. There was only a small handful of these type quests in Prophecies (e.g. Blood and Smoke) that I hated, whereas Factions has much more. Going back and forth and back again, across the city, to speak to npcs isn't fun. However, coming cross mobs to battle along the way does help take the boredom out off doing such quests.
Also, I've always been 100% PvE. My only exposure to PvP was the little bit where you leave Pre-Searing. I've never felt the urge to try PvP in Random/Team Arenas. Recently, I brought my Tyrian Mesmer over to Cantha, to see how she fare in the new land. Having reached Fort Aspenwood yesterday, I thought I have a go. It's like PvE and PvP all rolled into one, and I'm Loving it! Win or lose I was having a great time, and was entering battle after battle. I wasn't too happy with some of the AFKers and quitters who joined in a couple of battles, but they didn't ruin much for me. If it wasn't for work, then I would have still been there grieving the Kurzick team.
Overall, Factions is keeping me very entertained in many ways and I'm glad that I bought it.

Prophecies was a ~week challenge for me usually. I played one char through the campaign, quit for month or two, started a new chara, went through the campaign etc.
What alternatives was there for a PvE player after completing the Prophecies campaign? A player that despises all farming/grinding? Ummm.. Nothing much.
Factions on the other hand, I've really gotten into the game now, I do my random PvP in Fort Aspenwood or AvA with my new guildies, in general, doing a lot more things than I used to.
So I don't agree, I find Factions very much fun, and even more interesting than Prophecies.

I personally find Abaddons Mouth to be far more challanging then Urgoz's Warren, so yes I would have to say that Factions is far easier then Prophecies.

For me, Prophecies was more fun, but I like Factions. My first run through Factions I thought was more boring, but I did every little quest there was. My second time around, I stuck primarily to the Primary quests and got through the missions faster, skipping all the "non-essential" quests. To me, this was more fun. The secondary quests tended to be monotonous and boring. I think they were there just to rack up XP because I didn't see them adding much, if anything, to the story

personally i have enjoyed the most factions, i loved both games, but if i have to pick one, then i would go for factions.
i love the variety of the henchmen, the kurzick domination henchy is baddass, can even interrupt 1/4 casting spells .
all in all, factions really sparked my interest in gw

OF course prophecies had more initial 'impact'. GW was new back then, and factions uses the same concept.
Perhaps you are not bored of factions, but of "Guild Wars" as a whole?

you got to be kidding faction is way harder that profecies campain, i like the way they mixed the enemies groups and patrols its way more challenging. the only thing is that you level your character way to fast but considering the enemies in around the market place it is ok.
Profecies= Long adventure longer leveling rate
factions= fast level up hard enemies ( High level enemies from start) short story line
its like balanced

True, most people that are posting on this forums LIKE the slower pace of chapter 1 and getting levels and such, but sad to say....Arenanet wants to stick to their "no grind" policy, so once you bore off the pve, they expect you to go pvp.
Arenanet's "no grind' advertisement is a double edged sword, on the one side....people LIKE a GOOD grind, thats why people play things like WoW, the excitement of getting that next level, or farming that great peice of armor, etc. On the other hand, Arenanet had to compenate somehow for the lack of PvE content they knew they couldn't provide - and if they pushed it off as a MMO it'd have gotten alot less great comments in magazines and such. (by lack of pve content, I mean Guild Wars doesn't offer new Quests every week, or new skills coming out time to time, except for greens and special events, its pretty much "the content you get, you get right out of the box")

Factions was not worth $140 (2 CE's). The game is very boring and the new skills really only help PvP'ers.
Most PvE groups wont take you if you are not a Monk, Ele, or Necro. I think that .01% of the PvE population knows the power of a mesmer. sad sad sad. :'(

My biggest turn off in Factions has to be the Coop missions...Anet had good intentions, but they totally ruined them. Twice the number of players? Twice the difficultly! Its next to impossible to complete either of the 2 coop missions with henchies and there are hardly any people there...
But overall, I like Factions.

It's so far from impossible it's not funny. Just last night my guild did vizunah, 3 L20's and the rest were 13 through 18. The other side (foreign) was 100% henchmen. We finished it 1 second (GRRRRR) from master.

Ok...I can see how you would be able to beat Local if there are henchies on Foreign. However, it is next to impossible the other way around. The henchies (on Local) cannot keep Togo alive for more than about 30 seconds from the time we get within sight of them.

I have to disagree with the general mood of this thread. Factions keeps me rivetted and I have no problems finding things I want to do.
I have created a Prot monk I use to play in Alliance battles and another character slot is free to experiment with builds or let off steam with in the AB games.
I admitt that the lvling is alot faster and the learning curve is somewhat steep when just starting factions and not prophercies.
But in particular I find the henchman to be on the whole alot better than the prophercies ones. I got prophercies about 20 days after I started factions and to be honest Tae(healer hench) is my old best friend compared to Aliea( proph healer).
In prophercies the healer hench seems to always be alot lower level than any of the mobs, and travelling through some area's she lags behind and gets stuck in the environment.
Oh, factions missions are easier too, no standing around waiting for mission only to have many groups doing the bonus only, and the maps on factions missions are alot better imo. I'd say factions appears to me to be the upgraded component of the GW's experience.

Henchies
I did Viznu Square on the Foreign side and asked if the other team were henchies and noticed that i only saw our team log in there. Then when we finaly go to togo i found out that it was 100% henchies... not even a real person And they seamed to be scripted to do the mission by themselves. Did anyone else notice this?

In GWP, doing all the skill quest to get skills for my characters while exploring and mapping the new areas took me at least a few hours a day - Fun.
In GWF, Farming gold to buy skills since i have reach 1K per skill and i have less then 50% skills of a GWP born toon - Frustrating.
In short My PvE Toon born from Factions feels gimped and i pity those who only bought Factions w/o GWP, but at least they wont know what to complaint about.-Saddness.
