Lesson 3: Arborstone Survival
Hi, I'm Celestial Beaver! You may remember be from such scholarly articles as: Lesson 1: Meditation of the Reaper, and Lesson 2: Resurrection Orbs.
Now I bring you the third. This thread is mainly for Primary or Secondary Elementalists. Personally, I have never found aborstone that hard...however I often see people starting up threads on this forum complaining that it is impossible...I may have found the skill to, if nothing else, keep your sanity intact.
Are you an elementalist that curses wildly at the computer screen when cathedral collapse interrupts your Dragon Stomp? Are you a monk who has shrieked wildly every time your resurrection chant gets interrupted with a split-second to go? And necromancers....have you been banging your head off a block wall every time you have to wait while your interrupted minion spell recharges?
Your answer is this: Glyph of Concentration.
Let's look at that in more detail...the Wiki describes Glyph of Concentration as "For 15 seconds, your next Spell cannot be interrupted, and ignores the effects of being Dazed."
Yes. Cannot be Interrupted. Not even by cathedral collapse. This little skill has a recharge of 2 seconds, so if it gets interrupted, you only have to wait 2 seconds to cast it again...and if you cast it before all other spells you will never get interrupted. What sounds better? waiting 60 seconds for your interrupted meteor shower to recharge or 2 seconds for the glyph?
So, to my fellow Elementalists, while your team is being pummelled by falling rocks, if you cast Glyph of Concentration you can then merrily cast your beloved Meter Shower on those Onis at the bottom of the stairs without any issues. Any Monk-Elementalists out there? Resurection Chant is now no longer an issue.
Now, for those of you who are currently thinking "but I'm not a secondary elementalist...maybe I should make a new thread and ask...". No need. Go and visit Uncle Senji in Senji's corner...he'll see you right!
So thanks for reading...not sure if many people have figured this out but judging by the number of people who complain about the mission....evidently not many. I hope this helps y'all.
[EDIT: Please refer to post #3 for information regarding "knock-downs"]

Doesn't the collapse cause knockdown? And doesn't knockdown always interrupt?
Not sure about this, been a while since I did Arborstone, but I remember bringing ward of stability.

I have tried using Glyph of Concentration in Aborstone and tried to always cast during the cathedral collapse to ensure that the "knock down" does not cause an interruption also and it worked 100% of the time - my conclusion is it is not a proper "knock down" as Gale or Dragon Stomp is.
You are right, however, a proper "knock-down" will still cause your skill to be interrupted, even with Glyph of Concentration. So I would imagine it would not work with the Rockhyde Dragons when they use Gale.

Ok, you've tested it properly
Nice one, I would've probably brought ward of stability again if I had a reason to go there again and end up cursing at the interrupts anyway :P

I used Mantra of Resolve, since I was a necro and could handle the energy loss, but I can see the use for this

Against interruption GoC is ok but Mantra of Resolve + Inspiration emanagement is more reliable for me, and especially for a necro.

good good, this is good...I didn't realise what Mantra of Resolve could do...as my Mesmer uses mainly Domination.
Since a lot of monks seem to be Monk-Mesmers I feel then that Mantra of Resolve is very underused for this misison! Ressurrection could be made so much simpler! If only people realised these sort of skills were available.
Any more...?

(Slightly off topic) If the cathedral is collapsing, why don't the foe also feel the effects?

If you really want to play an E/Mo or Mo/E, you might want to use Glyph of Sacrifice + Resurrection Chant. Instant resurrection, and you'll outrace any Rebirth (typically from a newbie PuG monk) that would empty someone else's energy pool in mid-combat.

wouldn't mantra of concentration be a better way to go for mo/me in there ? or does it not work?

Well, it has a 20 second recharge and only stops one interrupt, so not really...
