Yeah same for me and everyone in our guild I've spoken to. While working through the game, we all bought keys each time we needed them so had keys for almost every chest we saw. Out of all the chest between start island and completing the game not a single person had anything decent. I'd say 97% of things were purple and the 3% of gold were utter crap.

I'm now working through the game with a second char and I refuse to buy keys now because I might as well just drop 10k on the floor each time I do, I'm only wasting the gold either way.

Why are you guys having such bad luck? I've gotten about 30 or so rares out of 120 or so chests. No that's not good, but considering 15/30 had good mods on them I'm not really complaining and I've stayed in the steady 40k..15k region on both characters.

I'm not far along in NF yet, but in my last chest run just outside of Nundu Bay, I got 2 golds out of 8 chests:

- 12^17 Req 7 Crippling Salient Sword of Enchanting w/Guided By Fate inscrip (+14% damage when enchanted)

- 12 Armor Req 6 Sharktooth Shield of Devotion +44 Health while enchanted w/Fear Cuts Deeper inscrip (20% bleeding reduction)

I have no clue what is max, and what isn't.. I just know that so far, Koss is making good use of both.

yes drops and golds are hard to come by. YAY for forced grind for sunspear points huh. farming codes kick in fast. i beat the game with my war from tyria litterally opened 100 chests and had 4 golds. im on my elonia necro and opend 50 chests and had 6 golds. now for the drops from monsters maybe 10 or 11 golds for both so far.

Well, I hadn't gotten any golds since the invention of the title tracks, so I can say that my drop rates for golds from the chests in Elona was somewhere around 40-45%. That's not too bad, if you ask me.

Did anyone else notice that any chest will give a completely random drop for 2 different people in NF? I and a guildie were out doing quests when he opened a chest and got a gold wand, I opened the same chest right after he did and got a purple armor. Now you NEVER will know if a chest is gold or purple, you have to open them all now...

1st day (Which is WHY people rush) Fantastic Chests... 2nd day, as long as you stayed ahead of the tide of farmers, was also excellent. Now that people are in the majority around Desolation, those chests are starting to drop in quality. there are a few exceptions. the Crystal Desert overlook still has quality chests... As does Lair of forgotten area... BUT... I'm betting the best chests are now in Torment because the majority of the players has not gotten in there YET. Maybe a little over 40% have made it to Torment, and that means better chests...

I know the formula now says its random for Every key but I can't believe that is 100% true... Cause It seems that the more its farmed the worse the chest becomes over time... And this is game wide IMO... as such within a week or two chests become worthless. as normal. This is why people rush to get access to those areas early. So their Key purchases are worth the time to get. After a month or so of Release most keys are not worth purchasing. in all reality its better to just sell them as they drop for you, cause you get more from the key then you do for what they unlock from chests...

Prime example. Obsidian Keys sell it for around 1000 gold and cost 1500 gold ;Anything you get from a Fissure chest... basically sells for 200 - 800 gold MAX at the vendor. What this means... Don't bother. opening chests are not worth wasting gold to open... Which is what Anet wanted. 90% of the time keys are a suckers gold sink...

from ancient elonian chests (or w/e the ones in desolation only opened roughly 12 now): 3 golds pics follow and 8 or 9 cant remember purples but I wrote down at home. I started keeping track of all chest drops starting with last nights capping trip.

54 chests opened, 37 were purple. I did get a max gold fiery axe (forgot name) ended up salvaging that as I didn't like the skin. And here I was thinking that the first few days chests drop would be just fantastic.
