I read about the crusher traps that cause instant death. Are they much like the ones in Sorrow's Furnace in Tyria, and are they obvious when you first see them?

I read that they don't cause death penalty, much like the ones in SF. Do they also not count towards the /deaths count, or will they count as a character death?

Can a Tyrian character do this mission, or can my Tyrian ranger only start from the Consulate Docks mission?

They are identical to the ones at sorrow furnace and are quite visible and very easily avoidable.

I took my Canthan warrior to the NPC where you start the mission and it had the mission start sign over its head, but I didnt check to see whether I could start it or not.

Cool thanks. I took my Tyrian ranger there to scope it out and you're right, the crusher traps are the same. Looks like I can enter the Blacktide Den mission right after, with the quests leading up to it being only available to NF characters it seems.
