I'm sorry if these suggestiongs have been said by someone before, but imo one solution for ANet could be just simply to increase the effect area of portals (the area where you get travelled to town), so that when a player shadowsteps to a town, he just cannot teleport past the portal.
Another possible way to prevent this exploit could be making shadow stepping kinda "instant run from place to another" (which I tought it were, before this exploit).
The latter of course could be better if the former would take more filespace as it should be added to most of current portals .
Nice notice anyway Juicey...

The other thing is, once Heroes become available, Return or whichever skill you use that you cancel to teleport can get you pretty much anywhere within the minimap. The only fix for that is to forbid henchmen from passing the borders.

If it became an instant run, then it could be body blocked by mobs, and that would suck.
As to the other guys saying that there is no reason to fix it. I say there is, as I worked damn hard to get my GM cartography title, and this exploit makes it a joke.

Actually that's not true. The area that the guild can access gives at most .2% though I imagine it to be somewhere around 1.3%. Using this exploit allows you to go through a barrier you normally can't get past even if you are in that guild, which leads you to the actual edge of the map. Meaning that you can see nothing but blue space and can look at the 3 dimensional corner of the land as well as under it. Similar to what it looks like in some games where you glitch through walls.
I managed to run a character through it and get around .6%, which is a huge amount of area cleared, roughly equal to 18 different spots that you would normally have to search for to get.
So yes it is an exploit and a major one concerning the title.

Here's my take on it....0.6% is roughly what one would expect to get from Jade Quarry, and that's a fairly simple area to map IF you can get into it. Livingston's put some effort toward helping people in that regard, but I checked out the exploit when it was first discovered and, through gaining that 0.6%, stopped having to worry about mapping the quarry
So basically, I don't really mind it being there...I just think of it as a Jade Quarry that you can get into whenever you want

This would be true, but I've never had problems getting into the Jade Quarry on the American servers, you just have to know the right times to go there. On the European servers though, of course I can rarely get in just by showing up. So it would be good for that. However, those in large guilds would have a distinct advantage in that they can easily organize to get into the Quarry.
Though I suppose when Nightfall comes out it will be near impossible to get into it period. So it may be a good thing after all, as I don't think people will be able to get into Aspenwood either, which then would create a need for the Necro travel exploit as well.

nope.
you can explore all the same area if you can get into the exclusive area by being in the alliance controlling the town. I did it months ago, when DF was holding the town.

So you could hit all these spots?
If so, that's just all kinds of wrong...

^ I found a spot like that in Tyria. I think it was in the Wall Mission. I ran past all the char and ended up in 'edge of the map limbo'.

I just discovered this thread yesterday and tried the method. It worked for me in Eredon Terrace and Breaker Hollow. So it is still valid. However I couldn't make it work elsewhere but I didn't try real hard.

I got 0.5% from Eredon using this; I tried to get into St. Anjekas and couldn't do it after 7 tries and I should be studying for an exam right now, so I'll try the other places later.
Thanks for the tip!

does the glitch still work (as of Oct 23)?
I have tried both return and recall, as described, and I get no success any where. Do you need the henchie control feature that was available in the preview?
Tried again, used recall to push the henchie in, then recall again, and did get in
