Last night I used the N/mo with dunkoro and Derv/War/Monks build to set up three groups, but unfortunately after I'm guessing ~ 4 hours aggro broke or my henchies were overwhelmed and the spears went on a rampage. I accumulated ~ 300 deaths before I woke up this morning! lol
Has anyone else had this issue where henches can't properly keep killing them indefinetely? I think I saw earlier on the thread that this can be the case by not having the henches close enough to the spear, but they were flagged right beside him...
Thanks for everyone contributing to the posts, there have been some really good innovative ideas!
(I only have like 22k LB points to go, lol)

I'm an idiot. I was using necros, but I forgot to take off the scythes they were using from the previous idea. I'm assuming the cast distance of a staff/wand would set your aggro just the way you want it.

This way each necro has its own group that only it can hit and the middle group can be hit by either necro. The henchies are off by themselves killing off 1 Spear at a time.

I was wondering it that was controllable. I've accidentally set up that exact formation (3 groups to two heros) a couple of times. It always crumbles due to the bonder not keeping up, but I wasn't bringing any of my own bonds at the time.
LOL. I think I've had more fun figuring out this stupid afk farm than anything else in months (green farming just isn't as exciting as it once was...).

nah, u can basically set them before u pull ur spears, just keep them to avoid fight.
pull ur spear to ur necro, when its close, make ur necro go GUARD, Not Fight

Question from me to anet:
Quote:
I recently had a chat with some of my guild members about this. Some of them think its ok, because the cloned monsters have been made to not give XP after people started doing the AFK farm. Others say its an exploit because thats not how the title was meant to be obtained. I was just wondering, though its more honest to earn the title the hard way, do you guys see this as an exploit that needs to be fixed? Or will you not bother with it? I honestly use it myself, and I think its a fair trade, I do it during the day(and at night), but during the day while i'm using this, I cant do anything else. So i'm trading time that I could be gaining money, or making progress through the game, for maxing out my Lightbringer title.
As I said, I would just like to know what your stand on this matter is, is AFK Lightbringer Farming fine, or is it an exploit that should not be used?
|
Anet's response:
Quote:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Guild Wars Support. We apologize for the miscommunication. This action is also considered an exploit just as the farming for experience points was. Please do not post any guides to point farming in this manner. If you have any more questions, please let us know and we will be more than happy to assist you.
Regards,
The Guild Wars Support Team

In other words, doing this afk LB farm IS an exploit. Therefore, keep using it if you want but dont be suprised if they nail your account.

Good to see that they are at least aware of this and might start taking some action. Sorry for those of you that want to max LB titles, but seeing people make progress in the game while AFK, be it making gold, getting items, or raising some rank, just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. That said, I also think it wasn't the brightest idea on Anet's part to put in titles that make a player more effective and valuable to a group, while require this much grinding to max it out. If people are trying to find ways of getting the title while AFK, the process of getting the title is too boring.

I'm assuming they meant how you used to get xp for killing clones, therefore getting XP and LB points while being afk.

Well, they fixed that 'exploit'. If they then start banning us players who afk farmed the Torments, its quite lame IMO. They should have fixed that exploit along with the xp, instead of trying to get us into a trap IF they decide to take action against afk farmers. I highly doubt that Anet will ban players for it. Fix the exploit and thats it.
Tbh, i think its safe to still afk farm

I agree.....just wanted to post here that anet does infact see it as an exploit. And seeing as they havnt fixed it yet, I dont think they would ban for it, because its been known about for some time.

Sorry, but I think calling this an exploit is a bunch of crap.
These torments are doing exactly what they have been programmed by ANet to do. They spawn additional copies of themselves. When we kill them, we get Lightbringer points if we have the blessing. That is working exactly as intended. We are using the flags to direct henches and heroes exactly as ANet intends.
The game mechanics are working exactly as they are supposed to. ANet is aware of it and they can very easily change the AI, change the skill, or do any of a number of things to make this not possible, if they wanted to.
This is no more of an exploit than the AFK festival games, which ANet obviously has no problem with.

Good thing I maxed out my rank already.
The easy fix is going to make clones not worth Lightbringer points. Then again, I bet the Domain of Anguish will have a much better rate of LB points than the current shrines. Maybe 5 or even 10 for the really hard areas? Anyways, if they nerf it's ok, they said they'd make the title easier to get later on anyways I believe.

If I had a more open space, I could probably handle 2 mobs per hero. Hero health isn't dropping that much. What skills do you have equipped with your bonder? Even without my bonds, the monk hero has been able to keep up. I'm pretty much just there to bond the henchies and to toss Mending on the two necro heroes.
I probably won't test it out anymore since I'm about to max the title anyways.

I'm going to check it right now, so we'll see if it's actually been nerfed.
EDIT: Nope, not nerfed. Just killed a guy who had been summoned from Call to the Torment and got my points. Will you people stop screaming nerf at the sight of a new update instead of actually testing it yourself.

It's been like this since I started last Friday... my character gets no xp's from call-to-torment summoned mobs killed only by heroes, which is perfectly fine since they still gave me my R8 LB title
EDIT: If the heroes kill the mob and your character isn't involved, then no xp's are gained. Otherwise xp's are gained normally.

No, it isn't nerfed. I still get lb points after the latest patch.
Do you forget to get something before farming? =P
