Help with Jennur's Horde
I've read all the posts I can find on this but I cannot get through this mission. I have failed this over 20 times atm. I'm new to guildwars as Nightfall is my first in the series so I am still learning the game and have few of the skills that people take for granted. I am a ranger/mesmer and I keep trying to hero/hench this but I am finding it near impossible. I've also tried to find player groups but as I am learning fast rangers are not that desirable to group with.
I understand about the static spawns and trying to kill a stationary group in between static spawns but I still seem to end up getting overran somewhere along the line. I usually can get up the first set of stairs and clear that main room but somewhere in trying to kill the next 2 harbingers I get owned. It seems my dps is too low. I have tried locking all my heroes onto the incoming cleric to kill first but half the time it seems our dps is not focused and we kill to slowly and then eventually get over ran. I've used Master of whispers, dunkoro, and koss the most as my heroes but with no luck. I've even used Acolyte Jin and tried using her to interrupt. What am I missing with this? It can't be this hard. It has to be something I don't know about the game.

I know this may sound patranysing so I apologise, but its actually very easy on both masters and non masters.
non-masters.
Obviously all you need do is slowly make your way up towards the harbringer of nightfall and kill it for the mission to end.
So you move forward to clear out the first two harbringers.
Kill the first mob.
Wait for the first approaching mob, kill them.
Move onto next harbringer.
And so on.
You kill a stationary group, kill an aproaching one, kill a stationary one, kill harbgringer, until you get close enough to the "...of nightfall" to kill it.
It will take about 3 vails of light to kill it.
Mission ends.
Masters
This is basically the same princible, but I would very much recomend using a human team with 1 or two MMs. Enough corpses for two.
As before, you make your way up, kill stationary groups, kill moving, kill harbringer, kill moving.
Basically do them one after another. Killing stationary, then moving, then stationary.
Do that until you have cleared all stationary groups on the first and second levels, but DONT kill the 'harbringer of nightfall'.
Then wait for the next moving group to apear. Kill those.
Then send a ranger up the left/right flight of stairs to lure that group down. Keeping the rest of your team at the bottom incase another moving group apears.
kill the group you lure down from stairs.
Then kill next moving group.
Then send ranger up with the vail of light to dive-bomb the harbringer at the top.
Then repeat that same action for left/right stairs. Which ever one i left.
You should then have the bonus, after kiling the 2 additional hardbringers.
But always do/take any actions between killing moving groups.
Only attack one stationary group between. Anymore and you'l get overwhlemed.
Then kill the "harbringer of nightfall". Again it will take 3 vails of light.
Plus always make sure you have a supply of light.
I hope that made sense.
It really is easy, aslong as take your time and you dont agro more then 1 group at a time and ALWAYS keep your people at the bottom of the stairs, other then the one who is luring them down.

Freekedoutfish hit the nail on the head. Just go slowly. It isn't timed, so go the pace that best fits the group you're carrying. Following the order or killing a static group, then the spawning, then static, repeat is the key to victory. Best of luck!

Failed again
Failed again 8 more times last night. Last try got down to the harbinger of nightfall and 2 groups close to him. Problem was by the time I got there my heroes had died so much at -60% our dps was squat and we couldn't keep up. Which are the most dps of the henchmen? The group I used last night was Koss, Acolyte Jin(interupter), Dunkoro, Healer, Fighter, Motivation, Archer
Any better dps by using different henchmen? After a week of this mission I've had it.

You do not need Jin as interrupter.......switch to barrage (ranger elite which you need to cap).
What you basically need is heroes who can kill quickly (Eles) and hold off waves (Minion Master).
I would go with Koss (mandatory for mission), Master of Whispers as MM and Zhed as Ele equipped with Searing Flames/Meteor Shower.
Its possible to get Master's by yourself but its a comparative breeze to get it done with one other person. The other person with their MM holds off the moving groups while you take your heroes and kill the bonus enemies.
Its too bad if you chose Magrid over Whispers as you wont have an MM since you dont have prophecies and cant unlock Olias. An MM really helps in this mission.
An alternate way is to go do nundu bay by following the other quest "Heart or Mind: Ronjok in danger". Its comparatively simpler. You dont need to do Jennur to finish game then but do need it if you want the protector title. I am not sure about this but I was able to get into Jennur and Nundu bay both. Ended up doing Nundu bay. Finished game, came back with all the heroes and lightbringer gaze and did Jennur's on Masters. So I suppose it should be possible for you to take the other fork?

If you really insist on going with Heroes instead of actually taking a human team.
Something which you NEED to do get masters, because you NEED a human to lure the other two mobs down the stairs as I MENTIONED.
Then atleast take 2 MMs if you have them. Olias and Master of whispers.
But again.... USE HUMANS.
Honestly it will make it easier.
1) because you need atleast two humans to be carrying the vials of light, to make sure you have enough.
2) more control over not agroing to many mobs at once.
3) as mentioned; to use a ranger to lure mobs down the stairs to the left and right, and then to dive bomb the harbringers.
Please go back to my explanation and try what I said!!! Please!!! I promise it will work with humans... otherwise im going to hunt you down in game, and find you and force you to do it properly :P.
Actually I just read your quote properly, your not trying for masters?
This should be easy then. You dont need humans when not-doing masters. But TAKE AN MM, or 2, and an ELE for dmg.
As I said before hand; Very slowly and casually move up towards the back of the garden, taking out stationary groups first, then moving ones, then stationary, then moving.
DONT agro too many groups.
Pick off the stationary groups one at a time, inbetween the mobs which move towards you.
DO NOT let any get passed you.
If you keep this up, doing it slowly, you'l be fine.
NOTE: it takes 3 vails to kill big bad harbringer boss guy.
You'l do it eventually, it took me about 3 goes to get the jist of it.
If your on tonight or tomorrow, speak to "freeked out fishh" ingame, if you see me and ill help.

(There's a thread about this mission just a few posts below yours... was it necessary to create a new one? )
A minion master definitely makes things a lot easier, you may want to try setting Whispers up as one (if you have him).
This mission really isn't challenging in a combat sense, it's more about being able to control your team effectively and knowing what to do when. Of course, it sounds like you ARE having trouble with the combat, so that should probably be the first problem you should solve.
The trickiest part IMO is the section with the two spirits on the bridge, since you have to guard both paths. Represented in crappy ASCII art:
D
/ \
| |
B C
| |
\ /
A
Where A is the spirit you cap at the top of the stairs, B and C are on the bridge, and D is the mobs in between B/C and the boss.
- Kill the Harbinger at A.
- Wait for a patrol group to come and wipe them out.
- Take out the stationary group at B. Do NOT aggro the Harbinger (if you do, just order your team to pull out after killing the Margonites).
- Wait on the LEFT side for the patrol. The patrols go on the side OPPOSITE the one you are on, so if you are over by B they will come through C. Wait for them to get past the stationary mob at C, and then attack them at A.
- Wipe out the stationary mob at C, kill the Harbinger there, and create a spirit.
- Wait on the RIGHT side for the patrol, which will come through B. Wipe them out before they get to A.
- Clear out the next few mobs at D, remembering to wait for patrols after each battle. Stick to the right, so if you don't catch a patrol in time they'll go through B and attack your spirit at A. (The spirits beyond B/C are expendable now, just don't let them kill the gardener.)
- If you're going for Masters, you should do that now. I haven't done it yet, so I can't offer any advice there.
- Right before you reach the boss mob, go back and kill the Harbinger at B with a light at C. You should now have enough maneuvering room to kill patrols long before they get to B/C.
- Grab a light from B, then use a flag to order your team to engage the mob guarding the Harbinger. Hit the Harbinger with the first light, then run to C to get another one (make sure your team stays and fights). Hit him with the second light, then go back to B for a third and final light. A speed boost such as Dodge or Storm Chaser helps a lot for this.

Part of my problem is I only have Nightfall and not the previous expansions. Everyone talks about barrage but it is from a previous expansion and I cannot get it I believe. So all in all I am limited to skills from the Nightfall expansion which I believe is causing half of my problem.

Actually, Raenny, you can do it with only NF skills (it's just sweet to have Barrage - which CAN be capped in NF, btw). My Elonian ranger doesn't use Barrage and she got through this mission with a PuG - the group was too impatient to go for Masters, but we at least completed it.
You NEED:
*At least two real people, preferably three, to carry the Lights. Make sure that if there's a light just lying around, one of your team mates has custody of it at all times (just drop for fighting). I found the best way to kill the Harbingers is (whoever has the Light) to target the Harbinger and run right up to drop the Light at its feet. BOOM! Dead baddie, kill its cronies, rinse and repeat.
*Patience. You're not on a timer, no reason to rush.
*Sense of strategy. I.e. the group stays and fights together, not scattered over the map fighting different groups (you'd think this was common sense, but trust me, it isn't). As always, kill healers then mages then fighters.
What is NICE to have:
*An MM, whether hero or real, if for no other reason than to provide extra fire power. I found that fiends work better, but it's up to the MM, of course.

Margonite Clerics doesn't heal much, compared to many other monk type monsters. You don't HAVE to kill them first, you can simply overpower the margonites.
Also, you don't NEED human players for this mission, although it does make it a hell of a lot faster. Positioned right, Heroes and Henchies are more than enough for the mission, and more than capable of tackling Margonites on their own.
As far as catching both sides of the bridge, I simply put a tank hero (Koss, in this case) further on the other side, to aggro incoming enemies, while I pulled or ran back for lights. He's more than capable of surviving until the rest of the group comes over. Of of course, minion master.
1 || 2
A <=========> B
1 is where the team is, 2 is where Koss or MM is, A and B are the spirits on the bridge. Have them close enough that 1 side aggro will make the other team come for help asap, but still far enough to aggro incoming enemies.
Now, if you're having problem with simply fighting a group of margonites one at a time.... your problem may be much more fundamental.
If your guys can't tackle margs on their own, then you may need to look into getting skills for them, getting better equipments, etc, etc.
If you're having problems with just plain margonites, you'll have a very hard time advancing from here on, as you will face countless numbers of margonites through the game.
Then comes the real nightmare, tourment creatures. If margs are giving you a hard time, these suckers will wipe your team in a blink.

Just wanted to add that contrary to what freekedoutfish said, it IS possible to get masters on this mission with Heroes+Henchies. I ran Koss, Master of Whispers (as an ss, not an mm) and Zhed (same Searing Flames + Meteor Shower as above). SS works really nicely on this mission because the groups running at you have a tendency to clump, especially if you let them argo the spirits before you. Of course, then you have to kill them quickly to make sure the spirit doesn't die.
Beating the bonus just took some really quick killing. Kill the group that he sends on the ground towards you, then run up the stairs BRINGING A LIGHT WITH YOU. When you argo, kill harbinger right off with the light, then the battle turns into what you had already been doing the whole mission, killing a stationary group and then killing a running group. However, this time you need to run like crazy back to the bottom to take out the next moving group. Kill the group on the stairs too slowly, and you have some serious problems. Other than that, gl on this mission.

I've just completed this mission for the first time. It's perfectly possible, as Arabian_Night said to get masters with heroes/henchies. I used Koss (obviously), Master of Whispers as a MM, Sousuke as a SF/MS nuker, 2x healer hench, Motivation hench and Fire hench. The damage output and survivability with this setup is enormous. I was playing as a W/D.
The main thing with this mission can be summed up in one word. Patience. Just take your time and do it in stages and you'll be fine.
When i got to the bonus i'd place an orb at the bottom of the stairs then back off and wait for a patrol to come through. Kill them then go straight up the stairs and kill the mobs (or as many as you can before the next patrol comes). Back off and kill the next patrol, then go back up the stairs with an orb to kill the harbinger, then back off and kill the next patrol. Repeat for the other side. Then what i did was to leave my heroes/henchies next to the spirit at the top of the first set of stairs (after the first 2 harbingers) because the patrols will always go for it. My heroes/henchies will run out to meet them, defending the spirit and killing the patrol. In the mean time i'd run 3 orbs up to near the final harbinger of nightfall and drop them ready for the fight. Pull my heroes up near the last harbinger, kill one final patrol then take out the harbinger with no bother. Takes a while but quite easy tbh. You just gotta watch out that the patrols don't get past you and take your time.
Incidentally the first time i tried this mission i did it with a human group who were absolutely hopeless. I like playing in human groups but honestly sometimes its better to go with the henchies.

The Fastest Method Ever....>
if u wanna do mission fast, get a real team of ppl. drop orb at first harbringer and wait for light. do same on 2nd and wait for light. if ur team now has 3 lights, just everyoen rush straight ahead and veer left and rush harbringer of nf and drop all 3 at him same time. doing this method, u can finsih non masters in less than 10 minutes.

I just got masters on this last night since I thankfully found a capable human team. Although certain other people on another thread say Hench is easy, and I would usually agree they are, I could not do this mission with hench. So...Now I'm Kind of a Big Deal

Well tried again
last night for 5 runs with no luck still. 2 with a bone head pu group and the rest with henchies. I just can't seem to kill fast enough no matter what I try so I am assuming I am lacking certain skills. If I am fighting a cleric that heals even once then I do not have enough time to kill a stationary group in between the patrols so this tells me my dps is way off. I'm taking half a day off from work today to try and farm a couple skills and then will be trying again. I appreciate everyone's help with trying to get me through this but it is very frustrating atm.

Hm....
....right! Tonight your messaging me in game ok! If not, im coming on, finding your name and hounding u with wisps.
Assuming your heros are all lvl20 and max geared up.
Aslong as you have...
2 warrior Heroes to tank.
2 Monk hench.
1 or 2 ele'a to Nuke.
1 or 2 MMs - (1 hero and 1 real if want 2).
And a profession to Interupt.
...you should be fine.
The same goes for a human team really. But MMs really are crucial for this.
And if your having this much of a time at it, I wouldnt attempt Masters with AI.
Plus if you take humans, ask if they have "Lightbringers Gaze" as it wil make a huge difference.
