ow, I feel your pain. They really shouldn't do that considering that the Coffer is so hard to get, it should be worth SOMETHING

It was already mentioned in several posts here that the coffer will work like a key-less chest, whereby you can get very bad or very good(~ala crystalline) items. Its a gamble you took, without fully realizing what you were doing.
Sorry for your misfortune, but thats how it is.

I've heard rumors that you can also get Tormented weapons from the chest, so I guess it's not always a bad deal. I'd prefer to wait and see exactly what kind of stuff you can get from it before buying one, to prevent stuff like this from happening to me ^_^
That "diamond armor" rumor intrigues me though, even if it's probably false.

I'm still having a hard time deciding, but I'm definitely laughing really hard right now..

D is correct answer i think.... might be B tho - its so funny that some ppl can pay 100k 80e for smth they're not sure what to do with...

You might want to try selling it to a rare scroll trader you might get at least some of your money back as its one of a kind you should get 80k for it. if your lucky that is.
On the one hand I kind of laugh with pity at your misfortune but on the other I'm kinda irritated that Anet did scam you like that.

Well, paying 800k for gemstones was a risk in itself. That is basically half FoW armor. It should be obvious that there can't be anything worth even remotely that much in coffer. Even if a 15^50 crytaline were in there, it wouldn't make it a decent investment.
Same goes for everyone trying to buy vambrace of truth. I simply fail to see the point. You know what you're getting, and that thing simply isn't worth it.
I suppose I better start farming titan gemstones. I have no use for them or the coffer, but 100k + ectos always come handy.

I think it's obvious what A-net was thinking here...
Once the zone gets easily farmable, which is already seems to be for some people, the ease of getting one of each gem will go up.
PvE'ers who aren't interested in the Elite mission will buy a set of gems for Razah, and that's it. Probably spend 10K a gem or something, maybe even less once the market develops. So Razah will become available to everyone who is willing to spend a little money.
Elite farmers who end up with a lot of the gems will buy Coffers with their gems as readily as people buy chest running keys, and hope to get a decent gold item, and probably there are unique items in the Coffers that we haven't seen yet. But most players won't touch these Coffers because of the work involved in the DoA to get gemstones, so the rewards should in theory be better than standard chests.
The most hardcore and insane people will save up for their Armbrace and get Torment weapons. That's the true Elite reward for the missions.
So there you have it. As a necro PvE'er who can't do seem get anywhere of value in the DoA, I'm going to have to wait a month for people to farm gems then blow my bank box in getting a set for my Razah. Until then I'll try to get in PUGs and farm a couple gems to bring my cost down.

Terrible just terrible... Infact I feel so bad for him i'm gonna donate him/her some money when they next come online. I've added the OP to my friends list
If nothing else the OP has saved alot of us from potentially begin scammed by the very devlopers of the game itself.

Err, wait, scammed?
The Coffer reward is random, he just got unlucky; there's no scam. This thread wouldn't be nearly as funny if he didn't tell us how much he overpaid for those gems.

That's a great idea. No chance I ever cash in on a coffer now. Thank you OP, I've added you to friends list and will make a small donation to rebuilding you bank next time I see you online.

To a certain degree, I agree.
But Titan Gemstones.... god.
All the other gemstones drop fairly easily.
I think once farming groups develop, they can probalby get to 1 or 2 every hour.
But Titan Gemstones......
They hardly EVER drop, and the Foundry quest is rather insane to complete.
Both in difficulty and time it takes. On top of that, it doesn't help that Titans don't seem to drop gemstones very much. Or at all.
1 Titan Gemstone is probably worth 2 of each other gemstones combined ><
