Does anyone have advice for beating the Shadow Nexus?
By "beating" of course I mean "surviving to get the armor pieces."
I have yet to defeat a single opponent in this challenge mission because the ele boss keeps destroying my entire team. Once I tried bring a lot of interrupt skills but then the warrior enemies took me out.
I need lots of damage to dispatch these enemies but ridiculous amounts of healing to survive them. Does anyone know a build concept that works?

What I used for that mission was my warrior character (no +armor skills but "Watch Yourself" maybe) with standard axe skills for spiking, 2 Searing Flames elementalists heroes, and 1 heal monk hero. It's definitely not the best set up, but I could average 100-150 points per round, and I got 4 out of 5 armor pieces I needed in a couple hours. Sometimes I would get out my longbow and pull 1 or 2 enemies at a time and other times I would just run in straight for the boss.
If you're using an assassin I'd definitely suggest to load up with defensive skills or maybe put Spell Breaker on your monks skill bar and have him cast that on you before a fight. 2 Searing Flames elementalists with a good tank and monk behind them will tear through just about anything in this game.

I have been running a team of myself as curse necro, Morgahn as They're on fire! / protection paragon, Zhed as basic SF spamming ele and Dunkoro as WoH monk. ALWAYS take out the portal mage first if the enemies are tightly packed, but if you can aggro a random enemy without the mage attacking you, go on and take it out.
I can survive pretty long with this kind of set-up, too bad the armor drop rate is pretty low.

I tried it on both my ranger and dervish.
Ranger team = Margrid (degen/interrupt), Tahikora , Master of Whispers (SS/interrupt)
Dervish team = Olias (mm), Tahikora, Margrid/Acolyte Jin (degen/interrupt)
In both cases I can easily kill about 7-10 Portal Mages before the time is up. However I have yet to get any drop at all. I did about 12-15 runs so far.

I didn't find this challenge mission that challenging really.
2 heal monks
koss on axe duty
and me on spear chucking duty
did 4 runs or so and had 4 pieces in total.

This was my easiest challenge the first time, got some armor, and now can't get through it enough to get any armor at all. lol.
Oh well. Better drop rate here than the one down in the Desolation though. Ouch!

Monk - Blight or Zealous Benediction
Zhed - SF with Power Drain/Leech Sig
Sousuke - Same as Zhed
Margrid - 3 Interrupts+degen
They did enough dmg to take out everything that spawned.

2 SF + 1 Koss + me (ZB Monk)
Got 2 armor parts on my first try, this is the easiest challenge mission if you'd ask me.

I've only done it with my Warrior so far. Took Talkora as a Healers boon monk , Margrid with poison arrow and interupts , and Meloni (Avitar of Balth).
All secondarys were changed to mesmer carrying manthra of frost and had margrid bring winter . Worked pretty good . Got all the armors in about 4 runs .

I have had some luck myself. It really is not that hard once you figure it out. Gotten a few high scores myself with over 300 kills with this build.
1 MM hero with flesh golem
1 Broad-head arrow, interupt ranger
1 Healer monk.
1 Tank (such as dervish or warrior)
The trick is to go striaght for the portal mages then go for everything around them, unless there is monk. The Broad head will daze him then it is GG.
