I created my character in the Nightfall Campaign and need to get a skill trained in Ascalon City. I made it to Lion's Arch, but how do I get to Ascalon City?

Use Balthazar Faction to unlock it in a PvP outpost, then buy it at LA.

Whenever you unlock a skill for PvP, it becomes available at all skill trainers in its campaign. (IE, if it's a Factions skill, it'll be available at all the skill trainers in Cantha. Core skills will be available everywhere.) The same thing works with Mark of Rogdort.

Next problem... I purchased Greater Conflaguration in pvp, but I can't seem to learn it outside of PVP. Am I forced to capture it from the boss in the Prophecies campaign?

Yes, elite skills MUST be capped from the boss, even if it's unlocked in PVP.

Unlocking a skill on one character also unlocks it for pvp, I know.

I don't PVP. Can I unlock a skill with one character and then buy it from a skill trainer in LA on another character?

Yes. Any unlocked core or prophecies skill will be available there.

Ugh. Heh - ok - guess I gotta get cranking through Prophecies now. I have to do each mission in order to get to Hell's Precipice, correct?

Nope, just get a run from LA to THK, complete THK, complete enough of the missions after Ember Light Camp to cap Greater Conflag....simple as that.
