I say no, he's not worth it because you can only take 3 Heros. which could already at present result in party slots stocked with similar or better assets than the slot Razah would take up. If the devs let you use 7 Heroes, then Razah would be worth getting.

Personally, I think its more of just a bragging rights thing, Or just to have him and say that you have him. I mean I love love love my ritualist and I love playing on her, But I don't think its necessary to have one in your group.
You can make any character a Rt secondary and load them up with spirits, Granted you won't have spawning power so it won't be as effective. But I don't think he's an absolute need. With the cost it takes and the time it takes to get him, I think its just more of a "Hey I have Razah" thing. I doubt I would even use him all that often if I did have him.
I have to agree though with Navaros, If you could have 7 hero's then he would most definatly be worth it. But I always have my 3 main hero's with me at all times, so I'd have to drop one of them to make room.

Is he worth it? For the moment, not really. I admit I only got him for the sake of completeness, but with the limit to three hero slots, I'm finding it hard for him to replace anyone in my current Hero lineup. Perhaps after the final skill changes come around, I'll reconsider. But right now, his steep price(PvE-wise) would only be justified if his profession was variable.

I'm a Rit lover and if I get Razah, it will be in a month or two when gems are cheap or DoA groups are more efficient than they are now. Even then, it will only be on one character or two.
With the impending buffs to channeling and weapon spells I could see some use for a rit hero.
I'm annoyed at Anet for making Razah just 6k Balth faction for pvp, but a pain the keester for pve.
Maybe when I'm bored with the next chapter, I'll try to get Razah on all my chars.
The Effort =/= The Reward in this case. Unless there's not much left for you to do.

Well, he is this 'tought' because he was ment to be a variable primary proffesion hero - ANet dropped that idea for some reason (and why? :/ this idea was great >.>)
As I see it, hero Rt hench is not good Spirit Spammer (I think Ranger with Oath Shot does that 10x better), he might get more useful if channeling gets buffed - and only, if you have Factions. Restoration? I'd rather get hench monk with me.
So imho no, he's not worth it.

DoA groups will never be more efficient... pugs are awful down there. Only teams hand picked from a friendslist can go the distance.
I decided to get him (better than wasting it on 5 Elixers... aka a Coffer). I still haven't used him yet though, given him an Explosive Growth MM build for the moment, was hoping to try him out with Splinter Weapon.

I use N/Rt heroes for spirits, mostly. This is when I'm playing a ritualist as well! There's about 6 spirits that draw upon their life that make Spawning useful, but for most it's better to have Soul Reaping. The two necro heroes can be used for spirits and minions (1 for each) and they give eachother energy - making multiple 25e spirits a doddle to summon. Me, I'll stick to resto/chanelling. Having said that, Razah whould probably make a good resto/chaneller too if a necro summoned the spirits for him... more space on his bar for spells that utilise spirits that way!

For the record, it IS possible to just farm the Gems, you don't need to pay 100k for Razah. You can just do a number of runs in each area till you get a gem drop or complete the area. It's good PvE fun to begin with.

Like any other profession, his usefullness depends on how good you are at building the bar.
Personally, I love having him along. I run him with my Rit. 2 Rits dropping spirits (offense and defense) + an MM > most things in PvE. Those prot spirits help the minions too.

I think that Razah is worth it. I've always found Ritualists to be a lot of fun to work with, as well as being very good supporting characters that complement the party's monks (and spikers, to an extent) very well. I've also found them to be invaluable on the occasions when I've had to defend a specific location.
The question is, do the unique talents of a Ritualist suit your style of gameplay? Could you integrate Razah into your strategies? Or would you never use him?

Karlos (2 posts below yours) and company are working on getting their time down for the entire DoA run from 6+ hrs to about 4 hrs IIRC. And if I went I'd go with a group like his or some of the other ones who've posted about their successes down there.
@ Kid Divinity: Offensive spirits are awesome in pve but the time needed for setting them up is annoying. They're really only worth it when you're dealing with extremely tough mobs. Otherwise an SF ele, a barrager, and an MM will get the job done in less time.
Razah would be a good fit with another rit b/c you need time to set up your own spirits anyway.

A rit hero would certainly be nice to have, but I just can't see how paying over a million gold to get him for your pve toons is worth it.

Is Razah worth it? Not in the least. I have done DOA several times and gotten him and he stays at the back of the line all the time. I never use him, the time I wasted in DOA to get him could have been used better elsewhere.

OK... But this still does not come close to answering the question of if Razah is worth it. Let's say Razah was the only Necro hereo in the game. Still... is it worth 100k+ or hour upon hour of cookie cutter build running in Anguish to get him? The answer has a little to do with their value to their party, but more to do with the effort needed to attain this value. Ritualists? I dunno.. after the spirit nerfs... I haven't gotten Razah if that is an indication of whether it's worth it to me or not.

It does answer the question. If you value having a ritualist in the party, then you will do what it takes to get him. It is near impossible to assign value to time in a question like this. I personally never used rit henchies when going through factions even though I have a male and female rit that I have finished all the games with. I enjoy playing them, but don't necessarily feel the NEED to go and get him. He is no more worthy than any other hench.
For me he is worth getting because I am a completionist on at least one of my characters. I am just not rushing out to get him yet. He would do awesome with my channeling build though and would make a nice supplement to hero eles.

I've completed all 3 campaigns with 8 different characters and I can't remember a single scenario where a Rit would've made my gaming experience any easier, faster or better.
My answer to the OP is NO!
