LOLZ it's so easy how can you fail TEEHEE
*edit* I've always found it easier with full hench, as with the other team... you'll just have to try your luck until you got a full hench team or play during non-peak hours. oh and rit's helpful too

I just did the mission with my dervish, 2 SF ele's and an MM hero, the other side was 100% henchmen. Not a hard mission, just be careful not to run to far away from Togo and Mhenlo.

Get a half-decent MM and half-decent monks.
Last time I did it for masters was me + a friend + 6 heroes and on the other team we had 3 sub-20 assassins, a rit, and henchmen, including the illusion hench... the only thing assassins were good for were corpses (as if you don't have enough in that mission) and death nova triggers. (Yeah, I could just enchant minions, but death nova'ing assasins is funnier.)

Two decent MM's... a good 36 allied units (2x 9 minions, 2x 8-unit squads, 2 ally npcs). OVERWHELMED. The concept of overwhelming 36 allied units its simply silly.
Not to mention, stuff was dying (enemy stuff :P) faster than could be animated by us no minion shortage. Progress was easy until a certain spot (the "hard part" according to the canthan player). But we still got overwhelmed.
WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT. THIRTY SIX UNITS. WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT.
I'll give it another go or two, then I'm giving up. Not worth the frustration.

Hmmm. From your post I'm not sure what happened, or what particular part you had trouble with (although I guess that doesn't matter b/c it's pretty much all the same).
Were your MM's among the first to die in your party? If so, that creates a lot of problems right there, since the minions turn hostile toward your party. Also, once the MM is rez'ed it can take a little while for him to rebuild an army (depleted energy reserves, combined with the fact that afflicted are now concentrating fire power on a few minions as opposed to an army of 10).
Equip your MM's with Dark Bond and Taste of Death. At Death 15, Taste of Death will heal your MM for 400+ health, plus you don't have to worry about the minion you just killed b/c there is an endless supply of bodies.
Barrage is also a great skill for Vizunah (I LOVE taking my ranger through there ).
Good luck.

If you go with AoE-heavy team builds it's grossly easy, like almost all PvE content. A friend of mine and I did this mission with heroes the other week during the skill balance testing. My monk was smiting, his ranger barraged, with a barrager, three searing flamers, a minion master, and healer hero. The other team was all henchies (yay!) We finished in about 17 minutes with just me dying once (hehe, damn ele spikes!). Yay for cheese builds!
It was funny afterwards how we looked back and went, "Wow, if only it were that easy the first week of Factions."

It is easy to get Masters if the other team is nothing but henchies. Its tough if there is 1 human on the other team though. Heros are a bit overkill if the other team is pure henchies, but who cares.
Good luck and don't give up, I may need your help when I bring my elonians to this quest.

having some spirit spammer rits also work greatly. S'what my boyfriend and I did once for kicks and we had all hench on the other side. We had heroes though, and I had olias as the only MM. He had the two monk heroes, I had both SF heroes, and I think he had Koss as our tank.
My build consisted of 4 attack spirits (though they were like Dissonance and Shadowsong, to disrupt the rits and blind the sins and warriors) and 3 support spirits. Life kept the minions alive longer since it heals them too, and I had Recovery up to help with conditions.
I think my boyfriend had more pure damage spirits and some channeling.
With our spirits dying as well, it helped the nec hero and henchies in terms of energy.
if you have two mms, one suggestion i would make for the last part is to place one to focus on the top part and another to focus on the bottom. of course the minions will go willy nilly, but it'll block the afflicted from "flooding" into one spot and completely overwhelming the area.
we finished in 21 minutes btw

Meh.... necros all the way.
At least one Minion Master really helps... but add an SS Necro to that and the mission becomes a complete walkover. Heck... doesn't even need to be primary necro.
I made Chae Soon (Assassin) a Pseudo-SS Necro for the mission... and took (along with Tahlkora, Olias {MM} and Dunkoro) a really childish and thoroughly annoying PuG (another Assassin, as it happens) with me. She spent the whole time picking up dropped items and avoiding combat... and yet we still managed to get Masters with a fairly large time-margin (1.5 minutes).
So basically.... aside from the MM... what you need is a bit of Monk help... and SS (Mark of Pain goes well with the attacks of the hoarde too).... and it becomes a walk in the park.

I did it the first time with my paragon with heroes and henchies without problems. A good lod healer, mm, and nuker hero will make it very easy masters.
The 2nd time I got another char, was hoping to be nice so I let in a level 15 necro with non-maxed armor join and he kept dying and my heros keep rezing him costing me time. We only got experts

I know it's been talked to death, but for a Survivor title character, if I have MMs and ppl *aren't* skipping, what happens if I shut down the game?
Do I:
A) Fail mission + death
B) Fail mission, no death
C) Advance to Nahpui and no death (hoping for this)
Please help! I'm hoping to try tonight

I ran my (smiting) monk through that mission yesterday. It took 3 attempts in total, and I think I partly owe the success of the third attempt to a MM being on the other team. Just missed the master's reward by 2 minutes and 1 second.
Although having a smiting monk on the team can help a lot as well. I've noticed that a lot of mobs tend to hit the healers first, but if you're primarily smiting and casting the occasional healing spell the mobs tend to pass you by. So disguising your healing abilities somewhat can give a monk more survivability in the chaos.

MM's alone wont be any good, you'll need a more diverse team for an easier time. Get a warder and a nuker in there and it gets very easy indeed.

Skip survivor, it sucks.
Or, you'll simply close GW, and probably fail mission+no death.

Do it with heroes (especially with an mm). Just don't go close to mobs.

Dont use other people. It pisses them off if you go for survivor for some reason. Besides, they cannot be trusted with your safety. Go in with heroes (if you have them) and henchies. If there are people on the other team, rezone and try again. Once you have only henchies on the other side just call targets and it's easy as pie (calling targets is fairly important, otherwise the henchies will all go for their own private fight like wammo's in RA).
Btw, there is also a strong case that in some cases Shiro killing everyone at the end does count and not the minions. Will try to look it up.
Edit: nvm, can't find it so ignore last remark until someone can back it up.
