Default Disable Fire Flowers in The Deep?

I've a question: how can I turn of the Fire Flowers in the Deep? Wiki sais that clicking on them turns them of but I'm currently in the deep now and they won't turn of when I click on it. Any tips or help?

Select the Fire Flower (c), and then press space bar...works for me. Hope this helps.

Make sure that only ONE person uses the fire flower... they can be turned off and on a finite number of times before they become stuck in a perma on position. So click the flower once, you'll run to it and turn it off.. process complete.

I happens sometimes that they won't turn off at all. This goes for all the flowers in the deep. A slight bug you might say. It isn't a big problem tho, as they don't really do that much damage.
