There's one huge incentive, IMHO: not having to go to a store. I live in a tiny little big-city apartment and I don't need more stuff I don't have space for. I do, however, always appreciate saving a half-hour here or there by avoiding a long walk or subway ride.

GAME, Play.com etc all mention nothing about a pre-order package/box.
People seem sure they're getting the pre-order box from sites that dont even mention its existence. You can pre-order anything these days, thats not automatically the same as getting a seperate pre-order box is it?
Amazon clearly counts the pre-order package and the main game as 2 seperate products. I have no idea if you get the main game with the expensive Amazon pre-order box, but it would be outrageous if you didnt at that high price *shrug*.
So which is it, order the pre-order box seperately, order the pre-order box and get the game too when its out, or order the game and get the pre-order box?
Bleh, wish these sites had proper details so I knew what to order.

I can't speak for the Factions release, but prior to Nightfall's release (3 weeks maybe) I just went to my local Gamestation and they had the pre-order packs on sale for £2. Game were doing a similar deal I think.
When I went in to the same shop with a week to go before launch to check on the release date, the chap in the shop was giving them away to anyone who asked.
All the while, Amazon were charging some silly figure for it, until right near or just after launch, when they started including them free with any order of the full game.
Moral of the story - pre-order your game from wherever's cheapest, and go to the shops nearer the time for the pre-order pack.
Cheers.

ahhh good old amazon.co.uk, who were selling nightfall collectors edition for about £18 when I bought it, which was cheaper than the standard version.
I think I remember seeing a nightfall pre-release pack on sale in HMV for about 5 or 6 pounds shortly before NF was released, I had always been under the impression that you had to pay for it completely separately from the actual game itself.
Personally I hope both the pre-release bonus pack and the actual expansion will be available from amazon or some other online store as I like boxes and manuals and all that jazz...

Any word of when the preorder will be available from the Online store? I would like to preorder without the fuss of leaving my house, even to check the mail.

Everyone is talking about a pre-release pack for GW:EN but I have yet to see an official date anywhere. So I called up Gamestop here and asked about the release just to see what they have to say. They tell me Sept 1 is the official date but yet we all know it is Aug 31st. So ofcourse I laugh but yet sigh knowing its so difficult to get any correct information out of anyone. I will seriously consider buying directly from the online store for less hassel next time around.

lets be honest here... this is honestly another good reason to use the games own ingame store... the release dates are reliable, you still get to preorder, you get it as soon as you pay for it and you get the bonus mission pack as a bonus
Oh and according to Gaile, the prerelease pack release date is July 20th
